In this challenging game from Play Favourite Games you are a descendent of the Guardians & you have to find 9 amulets to stop a poisonous mist spreading & destroying the world. The story is detailed & revealed by meeting spirits of the 9 as you move through the game; the dialogue in the cut scenes is rather long but you can skip if you wish.
The graphics are crystal clear & the artwork excellent. The music suits the theme but does get rather repetitive although it does change in different areas & the background sounds are also suitable.
You get a journal that gives you the story & throughout the game you find scrolls which add to the story or give you clues, there is also an objective list. In addition you can earn 32 achievements during the game. You will find a red gem & this lights up when you reach areas of significance to the 9; the gem reveals symbols that can be used to show areas of interest.
Widescreen is available & there are 3 modes of play, casual with hints & a skip button, advanced that also has a misclick penalty & if you dare a hardcore mode with no hints & a very long wait for the skip button. The hints are very useful as they do tell you what needs to be done next rather than just pointing you in a general direction.
There are not a lot of hidden objects scenes in this game, the emphasis is on solving the mini games & these are not easy. The game is a long one, I spent a lot of time trying to work out how to solve the puzzles, & is well worth playing.

As ever ERS have produced a game with stunning graphics & artwork; their work is never less than beautiful. This is the usual tale of kidnapped children & ghosts who cannot rest until they are rescued, this time from an evil warlock.
There are voiceovers which were ok but rather slowwwwww for me; however I would hate to see the game without. The music & the background noises were perfect, very spooky.
The hidden object scenes have interactive items; always a plus & the mini puzzles just need some thought although there is a skip button if you get impatient. The hint button recharges in one minute for both easy & hard mode. There are sparkles for H0 scenes & objects of interest for the casual mode but only the H0 scenes are indicated in the other; developers please note that it would be really good to have NO sparkles at all in the harder mode.
You get a notebook which covers the story so far & has the usual clues that you find during play for use in later scenes. There is no map so you will need to move back & forth to find items required to open doors, locks, etc.
Given the subject matter some people might find some of the scenes disturbing.
I recommend this game!

This game is a mix of Hidden Object & Fragmented Object from GameMill & Gunnar Games; it is set in China & has a local heroine which is a pleasant change. Her father has passed away & she is looking for clues to hidden treasure.
No dark & eerie here; there are lovely clear & bright graphics & very nice, well drawn artwork. There is only one mode of play & sparkles abound; the music is pleasant enough, there are no voiceovers but you can click through the character dialogue & there are no ambient background sounds.
There is no misclick penalty but every time you click incorrectly there is a loud clunk which soon becomes tiresome. The hint recharges at one minute & sometimes that feels like forever as some of the FR0Gs are well hidden
The mini games are Chinese themed & some are a bit of a challenge.
All in all a nice solid game that is not too difficult (depress the right click button & all areas of interest/action are shown).
I recommend this game!

This is a straight Hidden Object from Xitex is the sort of game I cut my teeth on when I discovered the genre; each scene is a H0. The graphics & artwork are clear & very well drawn although the scenes are pretty much junk piles. However interest is added as some items are hidden or you have to find one item to interact with another.
The music & background noises are not very good but there is an option to mute all. I found that leaving the option fullscreen filled my monitor whereas if I selected widescreen it made the scenes smaller.
There is no voiceover & there is a lot of subtitle dialogue which can be skipped; however if you do this you will miss the story. That is no hardship as the story gets more bizarre as the game goes on & it lost all cohesion for me.
The hint button takes about 1 min 20 seconds to recharge which is a long time on a straight H0 & there is a loop de loop misclick penalty. There are some pretty easy mini-games & a warning for those of you who find it difficult' sometimes you need to ‘draw’ your mouse on a symbol.
I had no technical problems during the demo but some had them with the ‘clock’ scene so I recommend you try out the game before buying. If you enjoy a straightforward hidden object this is a game to try.
I recommend this game!

Starlaxis has the crispest graphics & some great cartoon artwork.
During the prologue you get the story of how the sun has died & a bunch of starships are sent out to gather energy to save the earth hence you become a Light Hunter. The voiceovers are really good, as is the music.
This is a new developer & I wanted to see what they had produced even though I don’t play arcade style games (the game was advertised as a Match 3 but this seems to be a mislabelling as it isn't really#
Things moved rather too fast for me: I was ok on the first level where you have to gather scrap but in the next level where you have to play against an enemy spaceship I failed abysmally & ended up being destroyed several times . It is not the fault of the game; it just took me too long to figure out what icon squares I had to put together in order to manouevre & by the time I did too many cubes had fallen into the play area so my options were limited.
At the top of the screen is a square into which the cubes fall & you are able to right click them to define the icon, for instance a cube with A falls but click & it turns into a B or C or D. There are other icons & by combining two together you can make your spacecraft #in the oblong at the bottom of the screen) move forward, up, etc & arm your guns & the like.
If you like arcade games & are faster & quicker witted than I you really should give this a try as it seems like fun. If I could slow things down for an oldster like me I would definitely buy.
I recommend this game!

In Twisted Lands: Shadow Town a girl, Angel, was trapped on an island & had to be rescued by her boyfriend, this time, in Insomniac she has to escape a hospital & Mark is trying to save her yet again. It is pretty confusing as she keeps escaping only to be caught, drugged & ending up back in the hospital & you cannot always be sure which are real scenes & which are part of her dreams.
This game can be played in easy mode with sparkles everywhere or expert where the only sparkles mark the H0 scenes. The graphics are excellently suited to the setting of the game & the artwork is gritty. I found that having the Full Screen option ticked & at the same time, un-ticking the Aspect Ratio gave me widescreen views.
There are voiceovers & you can skip through the dialogue if you prefer, I liked them. In addition the music was splendid & the background sounds suited the story. You are given a diary which gives clues as to what to do next & a task list slightly hidden behind it – just click on the white piece of paper sticking out of the top of the diary.
The hint recharges in 40 seconds & if you get stuck it will point you to where to go next. There is no map but I didn’t find it too hard to work out the layout of the scenes.
The hidden object scenes were well drawn & the mini games not too difficult, there is a skip button.
I love it as I have always been a fan of films where people don’t know what is happening or where they are & this is in the same vein.
I recommend this game!

I found this straightforward Hidden Object game from Meridian 93 to be quite feminine so doubt this would appeal to a male audience.
The music is light & upbeat but there are no voiceovers & when the music is not playing there are some very good background noises which I liked very much. You can skip each characters dialogue if you read fast.
The graphics are good & the scenes are nicely drawn however they are rather cluttered & some of the objects are pretty small. There are some interactive parts in each scene which makes them more interesting. I did find it annoying that the H0 list only contained 4 or 5 items at a time & you had to wait to clear one before another appears on the list.
The hint button is a battery & you can search for extra batteries in each scene; it recharges in 30 seconds.
I recommend this game!

This is a Fragmented Hidden Object, initially set in China where the graphics are very grainy & are too colourful. However once the game moved into other areas the graphics improved & the artwork was the usual beautiful drawing I associate with the developers who made this game.
You are accompanied to each scene by an origami crane that swiftly becomes annoying as you cannot turn off this ‘helper’ who appears each time you encounter something new; once you get past China this disappears thankfully.
The screens load very slowly initially but they are connected to each other by special coins that are collected & by clicking these you can move between scenes with ease. The cursor is beautifully elegant & changes to hand, eye, etc. depending upon what you can do in an area. The hint recharges in 30 seconds & there are no misclick penalties, the mini games are easy at first but soon become harder, there is a skip button.
Some item pieces are extremely well blended into the background & difficult to find & some you cannot assemble until you have completed another object. You also collect jewels along the way to charge an amulet.
There are 32 levels & I had just completed four of them & was about to start on 5 & 6 (they opened together) when the trial ended.
Unfortunately due to the difficulty of seeing many of the objects I will not be purchasing but if you have good eyesight this game should last you quite a while & is well worth playing.
I recommend this game!

The prologue is funny; watch the subtitles underneath the newcaster . There are voiceovers & I thought they suited the characters; some of the dialogue can be clicked through if you wish.
The graphics are clean & bright; the artwork is really nice, the music could be better but I liked the background noises. The screens are a little slow to load but not really a problem. There was a black band down each side of my widescreen.
This is a straight Hidden Object but not just lists; you have to find objects from both a list & from silhouettes & keep an eye out for arrows to go to another scene as you have to move around to find them. Some of the objects can be very small so I had to do a bit of squinting.
The mini games are fun & weren't too difficult to solve.
There are sparkles for objects of interest & rather a lot of hand holding in regard to objectives. The hint button recharges in around 1 minute.
As you go through the game you unlock Top Secret pages which give you the usual information about Bigfoot; later you can also unlock some of the Art Concepts which were an added bonus.
I recommend this game!

This is a Fragmented Hidden Object game, the graphics are bright & colourful, the artwork more on the cartoon side but nice enough.
The music is very odd as a lot of the time it sound like it belongs to a game set in China; there were no voiceovers & those who read fast can click through the subtitled dialogue.
The mini games were pretty easy & fun to play.
You have to find the objects in two places; initially you begin in a scene & one of the first objects you collect can change the ‘illusion’ of that scene. Using this item subtly changes the view & more of the FR0Gs become visible, luckily the hint charges in 30 seconds for those like me simply cannot see all the objects. They really were very well hidden & difficult to find so will give you a workout.
However the hint is not very useful once you have found all the items in a scene & have one fragment left to find; it simply says ‘I need to look somewhere else’ but doesn’t give any clues where. I went into every scene I had opened using both normal & illusion view but could not find the fragment of the object I was trying to piece together.
At this point, 40 minutes into the demo, I lost patience & gave up but I hope others have better luck than I.
Am recommending because although it did not suit me others may find it enjoyable & interesting to play.
I recommend this game!
