I loved the original game; Lost in the City from Elephant Games South Studio, it was all about the story of a man finding love in a place of despair & lost hope & it was seriously weird.
The sequel continues the story as our hero & his love leave the city to which they became guardians; pretty soon Ann is kidnapped & the search is on. There is no frantic activity though as this is a slow game with lots of ambience & excellent background music. In order to move forward you have to make choices e.g. search the station, search outside the station although all will eventually lead you to make the right move in the game.
Instead of finding a happy bustling city as our hero searches he finds an apocalyptic empty place & the story, like the original, just gets weirder as you play. You will either love it or hate it; I found it hypnotic & couldn’t stop playing.
There are a lot more word list hidden objects in this game & they do seem endless but there is one fun little aspect, if you click on items you will get a translation of the Russian labels. The hint will recharge in 60 seconds & you can pick up ‘free no waiting’ hints by clicking on every purple butterfly you find.
If you need it there is a magnifying glass & I found it useful in some scenes & there are also mini puzzles which range from easy to hard, a skip button is available.
As you work your way around different areas you will find an Extras option in the main menu; this takes you to a room with gift packages scattered about. Click on these & you can see some of the original drawings for the artwork & some dialogue that adds to the story.
The load time between screens is a little slow, the graphics are not top of the line & the gameplay itself is very simple but this is about the story.
I recommend this game!

This is a good game (IMHO) from Daily Magic Productions although I found the storyline was pretty average & the use of live actors didn’t help. The voiceover dialogue did not match the mouth movements & that distracted me but you can click through if you wish.
You get a diary with lots of story & a few clues; there is no map which is a shame as there is a quite lot of going to & fro, however the world is not too large so it doesn’t become inordinately tiresome. The game tends to mostly finish an area before opening up elsewhere with only occasional visits back.
There are two game modes, casual with a 40 second hint recharge, sparkles & some glints or advanced with a 60 second hint & not a sparkle or glint in sight. The hint is useful outside the hidden object scenes but is rather annoying as it swirls around the screen before pointing where you should go.
The graphics are not as crisp as I would like but the artwork is good & I love some of the little touches put in by the artists; click on the red eyes in the tree & a bat flies out at you. The music does not intrude & the background sounds are quite creepy in places.
The H0 are good with some excellent interactive items that were fun to play, most are easy enough to find. The mini games are pretty easy to start & get more difficult as you progress, some I have not met before; quite a few of the explanations did not really help in giving me a clue as to how to solve so I ended up skipping more than I would like.
This is one of those games that gets better as you play; it is also of a good length, it took me just over 4 hours to finish; the gameplay is fun & this is well worth buying.
I recommend this game!

This is from a developer I do not know, Persha Studia & I am sorry to say I was underwhelmed. The voiceovers are endless & after 5 minutes I wanted to smack Tesla around the head & yell ‘will you shut up’.
There is no choice of gameplay so expect sparkles & glints, the hint recharges at around 45 seconds. The graphics are crisp & the artwork well drawn, rather bluish but that is because colour has been drained from the world.
You get a journal with the story & clues, a task list & you will pick up maps; these are not interactive but do give the layout of your current area. In addition the maps have pins & if you click on one it will show you where it relates to & any pertinent information from the journal.
There are not a lot of hidden object scenes; during my 40 minutes of play I encountered one, some were well hidden. There were more tasks & ranged from very easy, match pairs, match colours, put a picture together to ‘I have no idea what I am doing’ (trying to get the Tesla box started).
Anyway this is definitely not for me simply because of the interminable dialogue even though it is skippable.
I don't recommend this game.

My review is on the hour long demo as I found the gameplay quite simple; you don’t really need to use your brain to calculate what to do next, there is no map so you will have to go back & forth regularly but the world isn’t that big so is not a problem.
This is a decent looking game, crisp graphics & some very nice artwork although not very colourful; there are some reasonable voiceovers & the dialogues is clickable, the music is pretty awful though.
There are 3 modes of play, casual with flares to signify the H0s & glints with a 60 second hint recharge, advanced with no flares & a long 2 minute recharge or hard with no hints or sparkles. You find the hint a little way into the game, it is an ugly but cute lobster, in addition you will also find a journal that gives some good clues. The hint is useful outside the H0s as it will let you know the scene is complete for the moment.
The hidden object scenes are ok & have interactive items; there are quite a lot of them. There are fewer mini puzzles & these are the usual type & it really depends on which mode you select as to how hard they are. I found that on the easy for instance the simon says sequence of lights was far less complex than in the two harder modes.
I found the clicking a little dodgy, sometimes I had to click several times to pick up an item or shut a close up down using the in game cursor.
I don't recommend this game.

This is a hidden object from Gunnar Games & there are a lot of them. The graphics are clear & the artwork really well done but I would recommend playing in a darkish room though or it will be hard to see items in the H0 scenes as there was a lack of contrast & colour. The voiceovers aren’t that good & the characters were flat but there are very nice background sounds & the music is creepy for the most part but does get tiresome. I
There is no choice of play so expect sparkles & in the H0 scenes the hint recharges at 60 seconds. In the main scenes there is a ‘tip’ rather than hint button; it is ok when there is something still left to do in a scene but not so good at letting you know where to go next. I did spend time wandering around wondering what to do next several times.
There are mini puzzles &these are mostly logic, tiles, gears, maths, etc; there is a skip button. Most of the inventory items get used pretty quickly after you have found them, in addition you also collect books & these help in solving some of the puzzles.
There is a range of different areas, the heroine has ‘visions’ & you end up in another location so you won’t get bored going through the same scenes often. The final location is rather large & it takes a while to get used to where all the rooms are.
There isn’t really a story to speak of & this is not the most exciting game & the ending was silly. Took me around 3 hours to play.
I recommend this game!

This is a good solid hidden object game from MariaGlorum; the artwork is really lovely, bright & colourful & the graphics are very clear although a little pixelated compared to more modern games. There are no voiceovers & you will want to play your own music.
There is no choice in mode of play so expect sparkles & glints for useful items, the hint recharges at 60 seconds & will tell you if an area has been cleared. You also get a task list.
Hidden object scenes abound & you will visit most at least twice; many items are well hidden or blended & so not too easy to find; some of the objects are very small. There are some mini puzzles along the line of pipes, lights on in the right order, logic, make a picture, etc. & they range from easy to average in difficulty. There is a skip button.
All in all this is about finding objects to perform a task, there isn’t an enormous number of scenes so not a lot of going back & forth, it took me just over two hours to finish.
I recommend this game!

Well another game in which I am on the fence; the graphics are rather dreary & some areas are very dark & only by playing on Casual mode could I find some important items as there was a little glint to mark them out. In addition on casual the hint has a 30 second recharge whereas on advanced it is 60 seconds, both modes have a mass of sparkles for the hidden object scenes.
The H0 scenes are well drawn, there are both objects ‘hidden’ within the scene & interactive objects although some at first sight are rather crowded with items. There were not many puzzles during the demo & they were the usual types, tiles, turn lights on in sequence, reassemble papers, etc & there is a skip button if needed.
You will find a map a little way into the game but it isn’t a lot of use apart from giving a general layout of the town, it is not interactive nor shows where an open task may be. However if you get stuck the hint is very good as it will show a small picture of the scene you need to visit & has a ‘go’ button which will take you right there. This is a good thing as otherwise you will do a lot of walking back & forth trying to work out where to go next.
There are voiceovers & these vary between excellent & really bad; the cut scenes have live actors whose mouth movements do not always synch with the speech. I am sad that so many games are using real people as I prefer to see good artwork. The music is good but the background sounds do repeat rather too often, I keep hearing the same set of footfalls & a police siren regularly.
I rather lost the plot on the story as there was a lot of dialogue which could not be clicked through & I sort of stopped listening halfway through as in some cut scenes which seemed to go on forever.
Having just read back through what I have written I think I have talked myself out of buying this game, nothing excited my interest. My review is on the hour long demo as I will not be purchasing.
I don't recommend this game.

If you love a game full of hidden object scenes then this might be for you as this is full of them; the graphics are very clear & the artwork well drawn so the objects are not difficult to find. As well as dedicated H0 scenes some of the main scenes are also full of items to locate; you might find some of these harder to find; for instance a lipstick was miniscule. The hint recharges in 30 seconds if you need it.
There are also some mini puzzles, the usual sliders, put together a photograph, move coloured balls into a specific circle, etc; nothing too difficult if you are used to them although I confess I am useless at putting a specific set of colours into different rings so had to use the skip button.
You make your way through the ship via a map & as you jump to a scene there is a lot of dialogue (no voiceover but clickable) with various members of the crew & passengers. You have a journal which gives you clues & details of what you have learned.
In the menu there is a bonus option & you can set wallpaper as you play, new wallpapers open up as you solve different areas of the ship. There is no choice of gameplay so expect sparkles & either too much hand holding by way of pop ups that tell you what to do or a complete lack of information e.g. when you pick up a box where should you put it? I found the gameplay rather disjointed & the cursor would not always drop items where I wanted them until I had tried a few times.
I recommend this game!

This is a bright colourful hidden object game set on a tropical island, the music suited the location but there were no voiceovers. At each location you will be given a task list & once there is no need to go back it will be marked as completed. There is a map & it is interactive so you can ‘jump’ between scenes.
There were 2 modes of play, easy with sparkles & glints or hard with no sparkles at all. You collect blue crystals to stock up on your hints, I found more than enough but if you do run out the hint will recharge at 40 seconds on easy or a whopping 4 minutes on hard.
The H0 scenes were very easy & there was at least one in each location; the mini puzzles ranged from easy to average in difficulty, they were a little harder in the hard mode. They consisted of the usual move balls to a specific square, tiles, maze, etc.
The story was the usual one of doomed lovers but didn’t really add to the gameplay.
This wasn’t a hugely challenging game & took me less than two hours to complete but it does make a nice change from dark, dreary visuals.
I recommend this game!

This was an easy game using fragmented objects rather than hidden object word lists. The mini puzzles were logical & easy to solve. You have 20 morphing objects to find, there is no prize for completing the set.
There is no choice of mode to play so expect sparkles for the FR0G scenes & glints for objects of interest.
I was having fun until I reached the very final puzzle; you have to click on matching icons that are falling into a cauldron, the more you match the more icons appear & the harder it becomes. If like me you have painful wrists/hands this is almost impossible & there is no skip button.
As I could not complete the final puzzle I did not see the ultimate cut scene nor, sad to say, could I play the bonus chapter. This is really frustrating & made me angry as I had wasted money on a game I could never hope to complete.
So I will recommend but only if you are able to use your mouse freely.
I recommend this game!
