I'm only at the beginning of playing this great match 3 saga. The original was very good. Runefall 2 fixed the weaknesses of the original version. It is not more of the same. Map is greatly improved. You can stop mid-level and save were you were (an option not available in the original). The characters are a little snarky in a tongue-in-cheek way (I liked it but you can skip the dialog). Every level seems to have additional map quests which look a lot like the original Runefall. You don't need to have played the original to enjoy the new and improved Runefall 2. I love HO's but this is a good game to use to recover from the brain drain of HO's.
I delayed playing this game because I felt confident that it would be good. I play many HO's and after a few duds, I like to be sure I have a good game to play. So after a few disappointments I finally played this game.
Amazingly good. Only flaw was the voice acting of the characters sounded like Americans trying to affect a French accent.
Still a 5 star game. Collectables are not always easy to spot, Morphs in HO's not so easy to detect, mini-games fit well into the story.
I bought this game right when it was released. I delayed playing it because the 2 games before this were sacrilegious to the MCF legacy. What an excellent game! Challenging and shocking to the sensibilities just like the "older" MCF games. Graphics were top notch. Story was compelling. Mini-games were fun and melded well with the story. Morphs didn't stick out like a sore thumb. Lots of thought and care went into producing this game. A worthy addition to your MCF collection (and I have them all).
I have a large screen and even on a large wide screen, graphics were not crisp and sharp. Story was inconsistent and at times didn't comport with common sense. A hooked man apparition is on the loose and you take the slow course such that the heroine that alerted you, the paranormal detective, is placed in greater danger! This was an emergency situation, but many cliche tasks to do before you use your skills to help those in desperate need. I waited until the SE came out and used a coupon on it. Good choice for those coupons, not so much for the club price.
I bought this game right after it came out. Played it and didn't think much of it. I decided to reinstall it in honor of Halloween this year. Second time was a charm. Realistic and logical play. Makes you feel like you are a participant in the story.Very good SG. Collectibles and morphs.
I didn't hate it but I didn't enjoy playing this game. Bought it because same developer as Silver Tale. Nowhere near the quality of Silver Tale. Repetitious. Your goal is to collect enough coins to build another castle. Timed or untimed (relaxed) modes. The leprechaun/dwarf had an annoying voice and he repeated the same 5 pat comments. 3 different mini-games: trace the icon, put gears in place, spot the difference. Time wasters.
I was looking for something different and this is it. Older game but it has a map and a real journal! Morphing objects in each scene. Story is logical and tasks are intuitive. Totally immresive experience.
I beta tested this game and I loved it. So happy to see it finally released. It is a HO to the extent you have to find things to help you progress through the story. But the goal is to use your deductive reasoning skills. So it isn't meant to be a quick game. Nothing about it is "cookie cutter," and it will make you think. This is a great game for those not as experienced with adventure gaming.
So disappointed in this game. It's a fractured fairy tale type of game. (Not clear from the description.) There are many high reviews of this game, that is why I took a chance on it. I got it on a daily deal, which makes me feel better since I didn't pay full price. Mechanics are good enough. No custom mode. Choices are easy, normal and hard. I chose normal. The good: No annoying sparkles and no dumbed down "tutorial." Graphics are clear, but it is old school in design. The movie quality of newer HO's are not in this game. That's okay since I have been buying older games despite the lack of visual effects because the quality of the older games are higher IMHO, I frequently had to use the map to change scenes because the cursor would not show down to go back. Map is good & teleports. The bad: Nothing to make you care about the characters or what happens or doesn't happen to them. The alligator helper was just plain creepy. I just couldn't force myself to finish the game.
Excellent map and hint. Interesting story. Computer graphics clear and true. Reminiscent of the quality of the original House of 1000 Doors games, but this one is not a copy of that series. Original in premise and application. Only 2 modes of play: casual and expert. I played casual. No hand holding. Game where you have to think for yourself!
