I don't know if it's just me, but this game seemed much longer than most HO games. You will get your money's worth with this one. Nice visuals with the hand-painted look. Scenes reminiscent of old France with dilapidated buildings of the 1800s. I like these pictures.
I say this in a lot of my reviews, but again... there is a charm to these older HO games. Back in the time this game was made, there wasn't all the inventory, point-and-click stuff (which I think is fine, but just not too much of it). I prefer the balance to be in favour of mostly HO scenes and games from this era have it pretty much right on. However this one is ALL HO scenes.
It definitely makes me want to play the other early Hidden Expedition games - Everest and Amazon.
Before this, I had never played a nonogram game. It was highly addictive. I keep going back to it. It starts with smaller, easier grids, but then goes up to 20X20. I haven't finished the whole game yet, but they do get progressively harder.... otherwise why would you keep playing the game?
If you're new to nonograms (like I was) the first few levels offer an in-game tutorial (that isn't obtrusive), as well as tips on how to solve puzzles effectively. The only negative?... the music was too repetitive, so I turned it down in the options settings, OTHERWISE, GREAT GAME!!!
This game has brilliant visuals and music. Also great puzzles. I have one issue with it....being a HO game, I thought it would have more HO lists to find. It had comparatively few.
Sure, there are 1 or 2 objects on each background that you must find for inventory purposes, but hardly any HO scenes with lists. This is more of a point-and-click adventure/mystery, but a very fine one at that. You get 2 cases to solve in this game. There is a great atmosphere in this one.
I love HO games with disgusting, dilapidated and dirty scenes to sift through. This is one of the filthiest!!!
This game is from around 2011 and sometimes I prefer games from that era. The Art is first class and very cool music. Lots of HO scenes sprinkled with other puzzles. Up there with the best!
This game is from around 2010, but I really like HO games from that era. They have a charm to them. The cut scenes have a motion comic look about them. The music was very appropriate and the graphics were very slick. I like the art style in this. It reminds me of a couple of my other faves (strange cases: the lighthouse mystery for example).
There are a few puzzles during the game, but it's mostly HO scenes, and I prefer things that way. Some objects were quite small, but I liked the challenge. I'm so glad I found this game...
This has all the usual traits that help me like a game.
*Beautiful painted backgrounds *nice music and soundtrack add to the atmosphere * lots of HO scenes The bonus stuff includes sheet music .Being a musician, I was really impressed with that!! I was able to follow along while listening to the music tracks. I wish more games would include the basic sheet music.... The one thing that can be improved about it would be the voice overs. I thought the voices could have been more appropriate for the characters.
I recommend this game!

Becky Brogan: The Mystery of Meane Manor
The suspense is building in Becky Brogan`s first mystery. Visit chilling scenes as you uncover the eerie secrets of the past in Meane Manor!
This was worth playing once, but I probably wouldn't play it again. It had some interesting art on the diary pages that you have to find. There is no inventory or brain teaser puzzles in this, which is ok. I like games with lots of HO scenes. It is challenging to find some objects, because they are sometimes well-hidden. That's OK since you get plenty of hints by finding the cats in each scene.... and there are 3 in every scene.
There are multiple repeats of scenes and sometimes you must find the some of the same objects in the same place. This isn't a bad thing either... I found that I got faster in finding things as the game went on.
Beautiful pictures, a well designed fantasy world, great music. I am a composer, so I appreciate when developers go to some trouble to have good music in their games.
I persevered and didn't skip any puzzles in this one. I wish there were more games like this from this era. I notice that HO games have gone through a long evolution to get to where we are now. I think I really prefer the ones that come from around 2009-2012. This one is a great example.... just make sure to play 'Hidden Expedition: Devil's Triangle' before you try this one.
This game has beautiful atmospheric graphics and music. That's what attracts me to HO games. Nice pictures always suck me in. I like the 'old world' London look in each scene here.
I also like a lot of HO scenes and this one doesn't disappoint. There are also many inventory tasks and jumbled (jigsaw like) pictures to put together at the end of each chapter.
The cut scenes seem like theatre performances from the Sweeny Todd musical.
