I'm not going to rehash plotlines here. This latest installment of Mystery Case Files just does not measure up to the previous installments. I think the change in developers some time ago was not a good one, as the series lost the quirky, cartoony luster that made it stand out and be so appealing even to advanced gamers like me. As a matter of fact, I've been replaying the very first two MCF games and they were a lot more absorbing and fun than this was. Chasing a revenant around the countryside and finding a reason why would have worked better had it not been part of the MCF series, which I feel is a higher standard. Even the *possible spoiler* extra chapter was like a put together afterthought that really didn't make much sense. I would feel better if the developers, which are great people, would go back and actually play at least the first four or five installments and ask themselves what stood this game apart from the others. What are the current games missing? I am sad to say I don't recommend this game unless you want to wait on the SE and have a free credit available. I can only hope next year will improve.
I first played the beta of this game and really enjoyed it. When the CE came out, I tried to play it but encountered errors so had to delete it. Since the SE became available today, I used a free credit to purchase. I have to admit I was disappointed. I did like the mini games and some of the HOG hunts, but I was overall not pleased with the entire game. I do not want to do a spoiler so I will not be specific. Suffice it to say, if you like the storyline of witch chasing evil, I advise using a game credit or a sale to purchase. I would not pay full price for this.
Reflections of Life: Equilibrium is the best game I have seen or played in a long time. This is truly a lovely, well executed, and relaxing game. As a Guardian, you are summoned to save the small princess from evil magical vines. However, more is at stake in this fantasy world than meets the eye! Everything in here, from the music, to the artwork, to the voice acting, is superb. I do not normally play with sound, but this begs to be left on and makes you very relaxed during play. There are colored shards of glass to find on each screen as well as some very unique mini games that are not redundant and keep your interest. For me, this five star game was an immediate buy. I would urge you guys to not turn off the sound this time and at least play them demo if not buy this one outright!!!! I am so pleased with it!!! probably going to be a keeper!!!
Beyond the Invisible: Evening is one of those games that beckoned me to play. After trying the demo, I determined it would be a buy for me. I will say though, that the game is definitely buggy in hard mode. I had to restart the game in casual mode to resolve the issue. There is a dark, old fashioned flavor here as you pursue the child through the streets of the old town, disbursing evil shadows as you go. It's a relatively long game, and pretty fun to play. I am not sure I will every play it again, but it's worth the time to take a look at.
After investigating a series of ritual murders on the foggy streets of London, detective James Voodoo discovers a supernatural conspiracy on a global scale.
Taken Souls is a great game for the money. It is very steam punk oriented in design and with lots of very unique gadgets. The only thing that really bothered me were the vague instructions for the mini games. At times, this game also relied a little too heavily on the minis. Other than that, for it to be a SE this is a good game that is worth the time and money.
I recommend this game!

Redemption Cemetery: The Island of the Lost
You crash-land on an island populated by ghosts. Like them, are you trapped here forever?
This latest Redemption Cemetery has me wondering if ERS was rushed in getting it out. I played the demo of the CE and made the decision to wait for the SE due to the easiness and content. I am not going to rehash the plot here since other reviewers have done that, but I have purchased all the RC games. This one is just far too short and not very creepy. I did like the fact that the mini games were a good mix of HOGS and FROGS. My point of view here is that the game is ok but is not up to the standard of the previous ones. I recommend a buy of it if you have a game credit or get the SE. I do not recommend wasting money on the CE.
The latest installment of the Mystery Trackers series is a middle of the road, ho-hum entry. I'm seeing too many similar framework games, (i.e. using eyes, mirrors, etc to see the past), then cutting to the puppet show like stage to further the story. I played on expert level and it was not terribly hard. I did not care too much for the storyline characters. I may buy this but not the collectors edition. Some may love this game but I do recommend trying the demo out first.
You've been asked to cover a highly anticipated competition in New York City when something goes terribly wrong. Can you escape the world of illusions?
Based on the demo, this is a great game. I really enjoyed playing it, but the demo was awfully short. I played on the hardest level and finished it in 39 minutes, which makes me really wonder if the game itself is not a short one. That being said I give it kudos for great art, and a storyline that while not new (A reporter whom a vanished magician has a grudge against) keeps you interested. Nice mini games mixed with hidden objects. I am going to wait to purchase though until I find out how long the game actually is.
I'm not into dissing games for the most part. Mystery of a Lost Planet could have been a great game. However, it comes across as being behind the newer releases--- spending too much time loading things, pop up dialogue, and just sort of sluggish in its performance. The spaceship on a planet storyline is not a new one, but this is an adventure game with decent graphics. I was bored though, due to the above reasons and did not make it through the entire demo. Unless you are a beginner, I strongly recommend you try the demo before buying or wasting a game credit on this one.
Death and Betrayal in Romania is the best installment yet in the Dana Knightstone series. Loved the setting, which is very wintry and romantic. The flashbacks that are given to Dana by the ghosts are wonderful and the mini games are not boring. This is a long game, and keeps the interest. The only question I had was why make it a CE? The extra game was short, and somewhat disjointed from the main story when there was enough fodder left at the end to make a better one. No matter, this game is great and worth the price.
