I started this and was sure I was not going to buy this.
1. very little freedom: see something you know you will need but you can't take it yet because the game is telling you you must do something else first
2. I don't dust my house this much! The dust brush is WAY too small and so you do a frantic bit of rubbing around between each scene.
3. There is so much opportunity to make it more interesting... interactive HOs or at least a horse whinny or dog bark, etc. for the occasional HO.
The freedom thing though is the big no no, it is making me crazy... and yet... I'm still thinking about buying it.
Now here's the hard part of this review... I don't know why I'm still playing it . Perhaps it's the tightly encapsulated play mode where you move rather quickly from scene to scene, the ghosts that need your help are likeable, the mirror shard collecting is good...The overclick/cracked glass is a nice touch. I don't know whether to recommend or not, so, the 'recommend yes' below is to suggest that you try it first because I can't decide myself.
I recommend this game!

I played these a while ago and so can't be too specific but I miss these so much that I wanted to review it. This and the other 2 Awakenings were just delightful. Nothing too dark (though I enjoy dark 'scary' ones also, but this... The artwork was a joy to the eye, the characters... well, I miss them. I miss my fire Dragon and my Hint owl, and all those WONDERFUL goblin faces. There was a lot of back and forth, but since you were going from one colorful, enchanting place to another, I didn't mind a bit. Solving puzzles and finding levels were not too hard, but there were a few frustrating moments too, enough to make it feel like an challenge. The Nicest thing about playing these was that, like a good book, you could really get into the story and scenes, so it was like an adventurous vacation rather than just beating a game. I found myself smiling through the whole thing. I have never re-played any, but I may have to for these. As in most games, the third was the best, but they were all great fun. now... WHERE'S THE FOURTH!
I recommend this game!

Ok, so - I don't like find fragment games - but quickly got used to these because the game was so interesting AND objects you were putting together were pretty and interesting. Complaint colors were so far off between clues and found fragments that it was annoying.
In other games, the story line was stupid and/or irrelevant, in this one, I was interested and it helped make all the moving around make some sense.
I like HOGs that have more than one thing happening in each scene, this did well in that.
Did NOT like the puzzles, too few types, sometimes hard to tell what you were supposed to do and graphically dull.
But the story was interesting, I found myself talking out loud(I live alone with only dogs to be annoyed.#. Also found myself smiling alot, and generally being well entertained. Had to use a walkthrough in a couple of places, #the map could have been a teensy more helpful). Hmm, after reading this review, it sounds somewhat negative, but I LOVED it. [Snow Queen was a little better.] I'm anxious to try Briar Rose- somehow missed that, till I saw it mentioned in another review.
I recommend this game!

This is a VERY large program, almost 700mb. If I had seen that before, I might not have tried it, but, having tried it for that first tantalizing hour... I was hooked. Good sound, good graphics, enough help, but just frustrating enough to make you feel you earned the win.
I recommend this game!

Frustrated sometimes, but never for too long, just long enough to make you feel clever when you beat it. I've played hundreds and visually, emotionally and intellectually, this was the best. A good assortment of puzzles, enough moving around to make you feel like you're getting somewhere, enough backtracking to make you satisfied with yourself for remembering, but never too much of anything, except of course, pleasure. Bravo and when will there be another like this! I play the caual mode in all games, because I like struggling with a puzzle for a decent amount of time before, sometimes, skipping.
I recommend this game!
