I had only recently replayed the previous games in this series, so to see a new one made me very happy :) It was even better to see that there were 3 Bonus Chapters as well as the 3 main chapters. Sadly, far too many games are not just stopping at 3, they are getting shorter, scenes from prior games are re-used, and the CE 'perks' are almost non existent. I really enjoyed the 'background' stories of some of our favourite characters, and the artwork, the voices, even the music, were excellent. Please, Five-BN Games, may we have some more? :)))
I have most of Suricate's games, and like to replay the solitaires quite often. When I saw this one, I thought 'Beauty! This will be fun!" Sadly for me, it wasn't. I barely lasted five minutes into the demo, even after choosing a different card face. Yes the game plays great, the graphics are great, the music is the usual, but I just couldn't get past the rapid drop / turn of the cards - it was too fast for my eyes, and they started hurting. Without any way to slow the card drop down (I always live in hope, lol), I had to give up and delete the demo. So, it's a "No" from me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Set in India, it's all about the sins of your (forgotten) past demanding vengeance, and what will you do (this time) to make things better?
Voices, graphics, and music are excellent, and the story is well told. This is a game that will tug at your heart strings, and make you want to get on with the rescue, pronto :)
I really liked the interaction between the mortals and immortals, and also that it isn't just us 'mere mortals' who can make mistakes, lol.
I found the game to be quite a long one (at least it was for me), and the bonus chapter was a good length too.Set after the main game, it has no affect on the original story, but it does finish it off nicely.
As always with these games, try the demo first, before deciding if it is a game you want to buy.
I first played this as a beta (which was the same as the demo), and quite liked the story. So, when it was released, I tried it again, and decided to buy it, assuming it would continue to be a really good game. I was wrong.
Too much was left unexplained, even in the back story, and as someone else pointed out, some of the translations into English left a lot to be desired. Which is very unusual for AMAX/ERS.
I did NOT mind not having to listen to yet another "tale" from the Nanny - yay! I find her very boring, after all these years.
The graphics, sounds, music, special effects, were all good, but the story was just, blah, really.
I was disappointed that we couldn't go back and find missing collectibles. Nor did there seem to be anything extra to do with them after the game. No hidden jigsaw, nothing.
And then there was the game length. The SG says 5 chapters, plus Bonus chapter, so to be finishing the main game in a bit over two hours was definitely a shock - I don't remember the earlier games being so short.
I'll be thinking more than twice, before I buy another Spirits of Mystery game!
