First things first, this is a part one of three game and the other two parts have already been made, but BGFs does not have them. You have to buy them on the creator's website. I hope one day they will be on BFG. Now, getting past that...
This game was not what I was expecting it to be. It started out dark, then pretty funny, which had me laughing out loud in some parts, but I wasn't too intrigued. However, I thought I'd give it a try, so I went ahead and bought it. Two hours into the game, you can't wait to see what happens next, and now you want to finish it just to find out.
This is not a short game. I think off and on between work and daily life, I spent about two weeks on it. I think the longest part about it are the many puzzles you have to figure out to continue, and some of them are pretty darn hard.
My biggest problem with this game is that there is no actual love story or romance between characters. I've heard that the other two games change that, which I haven't played yet, but in this one, there's nothing. The story itself is very, very good with lots of LOL moments in the dialogue, so even if it's just for that, it's worth it. And the puzzles, despite some being hard, are very fun. Worth every penny.
I'm a sucker for love stories, and even though this game isn't heavily focused on a love story, there is definitely a need to finish the game to see the outcome. The best part about it, is that this is one of those games that has multiple endings, which means everything you do within the game will change the outcome at the end. The love story I mentioned before? That's part of it. The game play is simple, you have three options to play, story, regular or hard (I never played hard) but story mode lets you breeze past the baddies and focus on how you want your game to end. I think there are 6 possible endings, I have only gotten 3, so good luck finding them all.
Story, sound and creativity in this game are excellent, there are puzzles but not as many as I would have liked. And for those that want there to be a sequel after you finish it, don't worry, there is more coming.
This game, for a 2D type of RPG, is amazing, fun, and really gets your attention. The two people that created this one-part-of-three game have a fairly big background in helping create games, even if it's just for the art; some of which have been released on the Nintendo DS gaming systems. The best thing about them is that they make their own avatars for the game instead of using pre-rendered characters, which is what initially caught my attention; it didn't /look/ like the other games.
It's heavily focused on the Japanese genre of role-playing games, featuring music with real words, which adds to the feeling of the game. This particular chapter was a little on the short side, but I've heard they're making the next ones much longer.
The story and characters are all very well detailed and have a lot of thought put into them.
Overall, if you enjoy stories, then you should check this game out. It's like playing a book.
