I stumbled upon this series, literally, and have really enjoyed them for the most part. Yes, 13 is very like twelve but even that isn't a huge discouragement. What IS a problem for me are the jigsaws...in ALL the editions. The pieces are too small, you have no picture to give you even a fighting chance of success and you have to ROTATE the pieces to use them. I dind myself watching the countdown clock so that I can SKIP them. Frustration in a game that is, otherwise, fun and relaxing.
I play games to relax, not to challenge others, play against a clock or cause myself frustration. This Jewel Match is simply not the one for me to do that. Like all the previous Jewel Matches, the buildings are beautiful, the play is smooth, the story line interesting. What I don't like (and what I didn't like in the previous Aqua one) is the fact that there are certain levels (the cage ones especially) that are near impossible to get through in a timely manner. Also, though I wanted to build the extra rooms, stars were needed and there was practically no way to earn those stars. I uninstalled this on level 17 because I found myself fuming and not smiling and enjoying myself and the frustrating challenges. Could we have some new "classic" Jewel Match games, please?
I have loved most of the JM games, but this one....not so sure.
I play these games on the relaxed mode for the very reason that I play them TO RELAX. But I found myself frustrated very early on with too many turtles, too many red lines, too many cages, a compass that didn't make ANY sense and it taking forever to get anywhere.
It's like the designers decided to amp the difficulties up on steroids, which may be fine which may be great on timed or moves mode but is just a PITB on relaxed.
I love the series, but this one is just OK. I have no problem with the music, the graphics, the general tech of the game but I enjoyed the "extra" room in the other versions where I could get stars for the extras. Having to do it in the in the race and other levels is frustration and not the relaxing time that I want when I play. Simply said, I like the simplicity of the other versions.
I must first say that I LOVE the series and was looking forward to the CH7 when I bought it. But I have to say that I finished it NOT because I loved it but because I hate to leave a game unfinished.
NO ONE should have to "win" a level out of pure dumb luck! But I found that that happened far too often. The bombs appeared at random or not at all, you would get stuck with coins that there was no way to get to except to replay the level again and again. Most of us play for relaxation, but I found myself so frustrated at times that I just excited the game to get my blood pressure down.
It almost feels like several designers put this game together either without looking at the other CH games or totally independent of one another.
SO if you are looking for a frustrating at times challenge, this is the CH for you.
I have not been this frustrated with a match 3 game in a LONG time. The directions were almost non-existent, you had to place the same type of game multiple times to get to the next level and then some of those games were incredibly frustrating because the possibility of "winning" them was slim to none. I play these games to relax, not to want to swear at the screen
I have played and enjoyed the first 2 and 4th "chapters" of this game, but S3 has tried my patience! There are levels that you can't finish without a small miracle (or multiple rockets) and no way to get those small miracles. That alone sucks the fun right out of playing.
2nd time playing and I give it. I have had it with getting to the last tile needed and being timed out and taking 9 tries to complete ONE game. too frustrating for me.
having read the other reviews, I was really looking forward to playing this. BUT, I found the bonus games impossible to play and all the levels the same as far as the challenge went. it took forever to get enough stars and amulets to be able to complete the scenes and I kept thinking that the higher up the levels, the more differences there would be. and what is up with the giant orange ball?
I love the Jewel Quest Mysteries and have most if not all in my game rotation....so when I say this new one, I thought "SCORE!"...but not so much after playing it...twice...there are parts of it that are down-right confusing and with no help available and then I got to the end and it just ended! WAY too short...and for that I was disappointed.
