I've played all of the Nevertales games and I have to admit, this one comes close, but doesn't top the first one, and it just might be better than the second. Regardless, all three are deserving of five stars, but that's just my opinion.
Anyways, some more info about the game: You play as Alice, the daughter of Belle and Pierre from the previous games. You've got your little helper Gears with you, but first you have to repair him after you reach your hometown in Taleworld. The graphics are what we've come to expect from Mad Head Games - beautiful hand drawn artworks. The sound effects are nice and the music is, once again, one of the high points of the game. The story has a little twist at the end, as usual in the Nevertales series - it's not all as it seems.
I've read some reviews complaining about there being no lip-syncs in the game, and I have to say that's just not true. You can even see them in the demo, close to the end when you meet the Mal character. Once again they are top-notch! The animations in the game are also very smooth. The Gameplay overall is of Mad Head's quality, so there's no complaints there.
The only bad side to the game might be the bonus chapter, which is again not as long as I had hoped. It's looks gorgeous though, and was fun to get through.
After the bonus chapter you have the option to go through all the scenes and collect the cards you might have missed (the cards are collectables). When you've finished that, there's the treasure hunt waiting (another set of collectables) and when you're done with that, you unlock the Red Heart Casino section of the game where you can play some of the puzzles you've seen in the main game, and also some new ones. Then, as a final reward for playing through the casino games, when you reach 500 points at them, you unlock a final jigsaw puzzle to play through. I had a lot of fun unlocking all the things!
Overall, this game was a blast and I can't wait to see what the people at Mad Head Games put out next. If you;re on the fence about the game, try the demo and see if you like it. I sure did!
I haven't played the game in full so I don't know what to expect later on, but from what I have experienced so far I think this is one of the better Eipix games. They have had some hits and misses but lately everything they release is a winner in my book. I liked the first Danse Macabre game and this one seems just a tad bit better in every aspect. Other reviewers said everything already so I'll keep this short. Bottom line - I love the game and fully recommend it!
I recommend this game!

League of Light: Wicked Harvest Collector's Edition
Someone – or something – is stealing the children of Blake’s Mountain!
This game was such a visual treat. The cutscene animations are top notch, and there were quite a lot of them. The HO scenes were also interesting, with lots of interactions. I also liked the art style, and the little scarecrow helper is as cute as a button! There were a few humorous moments with him as well. All in all, the game is very worth playing... but I couldn't give it 5 stars for a number of reasons.
First and foremost, I thought it didn't play out as smoothly as other top tier games. I felt a small delay every time I picked up or used an item. It's a very small delay and not really a big deal, but it made me feel like my laptop was struggling with the game (which might be the case, i admit). Also, sometimes the text at the top would appear rapidly and randomly. In the first scene with the bridge some text appeared and before I could read it, it changed to something else. Other times when I did something wrong, or when I was frantically clicking something I didn't have an item for, it was telling me "that won't work" or something to that extent over and over, even when I went to a different scene. I'm pretty tech savvy so these little technical glitches easily disrupt my immersion, but they shouldn't be a big deal to the average gamer. It's just my little pet peeve.
Alas, there's one thing every gamer notices, and that's the story. Missing children... been there - done that, right? But even that is OK in my book. I understand how difficult it is to bring about an original story so I can go over that, but I'm baffled at the extent the people who make these games expect us to suspend our disbelief. For instance, in the first scene here, you are riding a coach over a fragile bridge and the bridge breaks, of course, and then you are just hanging there on the verge of falling down, but not before you do all sorts of item interactions, and even a hidden object scene. All that would have been fine, but the thing is... after you do all that (spoiler ahead!), the whole coach thing just falls in the water anyway. You did all that stuff you did, and you still fell down! It made me feel kinda bummed out, but just for a second 'cause I remembered there was still the rest of the game to play through (which I'm still in the progress of doing). Nothing else in the game so far had me feel like this again, BUT, this is the biggest reason that made me give out 4 stars instead of 5.
All in all, the game is beautiful, even if a little naive at times. It is better than most of what is available so I do recommend it.
I recommend this game!

Dark Realm: Queen of Flames Collector's Edition
Without warning, a group of mysterious figures arrives and reduces your village to flames and rubble. What do they want... and who is controlling them?
I've played most games by this developer but never left a review before. This game made me break the ice. Everything about is just, for the lack of a better word, epic! From the beautiful artwork to the phenomenal music. You can really see that the developers made the game with love for what they are doing. At least I like seeing it that way.
I'll cut this short since other people were more detailed in their reviews. I still haven't gotten to the end, but I expect it to be filled with lots of extras to unlock, like every other Mad Head Games release. All in all, I'm loving the game so far and I heartily recommend it to everyone.
