Mystery Case Files have always been my favorite. I always get excited when a new one comes out. I absolutely hated this one. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because I have seen worse games as far as quality goes. But compared to all other MCF games, I would give it less than half a star. There are so many negatives, I won't even bother to list. Save your money/coupons/credits!
I don't recommend this game.

I really enjoyed this game's story line and new twist. It was almost like watching a real movie and getting to play the game at the same time, and almost like playing 3 games in one. While it had dark undertones and moments, the actual game itself didn't take on that air. The game was challenging, yet not so hard that you couldn't use a hint and get past it. Hints: I love that you can collect them all and use them when you need them (I think I had 20 or 30 still at the end of the game). I didn't use many, but I could use 2 at once if I missed the first time or still had trouble and not worry about not having any later when the game got harder. If you can handle the crime shows on tv, you can handle this game. So if you are scared off by a lot of the macabre storylines...please CHECK THIS ONE OUT!
I recommend this game!

If you want to just click box after box of hidden object scenes, it would be easier and cheaper to just play a game online. You get told at the beginning, in an odd manor, that you are trying to figure out who killed Amy. In the hour trial, that is all of the story I got. I never actually clicked on the map because when you finished one scene, you are shown approx 8 boxes (scenes) to choose from and only one is unlocked. I figured with such a simple game, that would be all the map showed. I may be wrong, and from an earlier review it sounds like I couldn't have done it anyway. You will lose your progress if you leave any scene. So if you have one or 2 items that you can't find, and you go to the map or anything else, you will have to restart the scene. I often like to play straight HOS but this was the most boring game ever. There was no reasoning behind what you were looking for in the scenes, no connection to the 'crime' or the 'investigation' and the actual objects found. No going into a house then a room, just a box you click that tells you that you are in the shed. Scenes are very clear, but item names are not. And some items were so far off the screen you couldn't see them. Will not be buying this game!
I don't recommend this game.

This game may not be sophisticated, or have a storyline, but it is more realistic than any of the other ones I have played.
I recommend this game!

I LOVE HOG's, and I've played long enough and enough games to be considered an expert, but I consider myself intermediate because I don't play them daily and I rarely review them...but I'm really tired of the ghosts and vampires and historical mysteries.I use to love them, but they are getting old...Can't we get one that has a completely different story, maybe even a little color??!! I also can't stand going back and forth back and forth and remembering which direction I went and didn't go. Figuring out which way to go is part of the fun, but 2 hours after you have done that (more than once) and you STILL have no way of knowing which way to go...it's gets boring. back and forth once or twice and then that scene should be done...closed even. And the way this whole thing connected together, yet you still had to go all the way around the game to get there every time...even after you have unlocked numerous passages. I didn't like it...I bought the first one because of the reviews telling me to play it before this one....but I won't be buying this one since the demo is the same thing. Like I said...repetition...storyline...scenes and even entire games. Come on...give us a choice for a change!
I don't recommend this game.
