I've loved every Dark Parables game and have them all. BUT! This is the first time I had a problem with getting stuck in a loop (so to speak).
I missed an item in chapter 4 but the game let me proceed to chapter 5. I then got stuck in chapter 5 because I didn't have the item from chapter 4, but it also would not let me go back to get it.
I could not finish the game and was only halfway through. I have to start all over with a new profile.
This is extremely disappointing and shows a degradation in quality control.
Downside first: 1. Sloppy, amateurish graphics. I could have drawn better ones, and my art level is about on a par with a second-grader. 2. Extremely annoying "sound effects". More like pseudo-creepy noise effects. Fortunately you can turn them off, which I did. 3. The puzzles are a little more difficult than they should be due to what I would have to consider a design flaw - the tile in the "pending" spot is significantly larger than the one about to be fired, drawing the eye away from what you're about to shoot, leading to misfires. This is not a measure of puzzle-solving (which should be the focus of the game) and makes the game less pleasant. Tricking someone into making mistakes is not a true puzzle, it's a cheap shot.
All that being said, the Upside: 1. A nicely designed puzzle that combines elements of Match-3, Marble-popper and tetris, making for something new and different. It's always refreshing to see a game that challenges the artificial categories we see games put into. 2. There is no time factor, so each move can be thought out without penalty. No "shoot faster!!!! faster!!!" element. This is a good game for someone who likes to plan strategies. (On the other hand, if the adrenaline is a plus for you, this is not the game for you.)
A cute little game, but it is absolutely a TIME MANAGEMENT game, NOT Strategy, which is how it's listed. TM means with a TIMER (and one that cannot be turned off) which is what this one is.
Strategy means a game where you have to think and solve problems, not run around in a muck sweat trying to get X number of things done before the timer goes off.
If TM is your thing, a great little game, but if you're looking for an actual Strategy game, this ain't it.
Just not a good game. Artwork hokey, Storyline lame. Play very limited in terms of match-3 strategies (swap only). Sound and "music" (such as it was) repetitive, limited, and irritating. In short, I found nothing special or unique in this game to justify wasting time or money on it.
