I liked the first one so it was a matter of minutes in the demo before I bought it to play it out! I've played it in the normal timed mode, which had a few challenging levels, and now in the second round in Expert mode I'm finding some of the levels rather hard, to find the right order to do everything to finish with 3 stars. Haven't been able to crack the developer's high score on a few levels but playing a level more than half a dozen times is my limit!!
It's a fun TM game that revolves around clearing paths, retrieving resources, building buildings, freeing the occasional caged worker, smiting ghosts and the like. Hercules only does the big stuff and stands around most've the time, the workers run around doing everything. The graphics are cute and I like the extra task of finding hidden tiles (some which don't seem to appear until well into the level). The robbers you have to outrun from stealing your resources make it interesting (tho' I would love even more to be able to beat them senseless with a few clicks!!). There are a few mini-games between levels (tho' I found a couple of them a bit more annoying than fun). The 3 timed game modes makes it good value, I rarely play the casual/untimed modes, so 2 timed modes is great.
The one thing that irritates me enormously - and I didn't notice it happening in the normal timed game - was that the workers sometimes ignore my pre-clicked & ticked resource to pick up, so while I think someone is running to get the food/wood/gold I need to do the next thing, they have in fact gone home and I have to re-click the resource to actually get it.
The other thing that disappoints me about a lot of these games is the lost opportunity for an educational dimension that would fit so well with the game - is it too hard to weave some of the actual myth of Hercules through the storyline?
Having said that, it really is a fun game to play! I'm up to level 3.4 in the timed mode so back I go... :) Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

I like this TM game, it's cute and fun to play.
I like the whole "rescue" theme and storyline, and that there are so many things to do. Along with the usual road clearing/building/collecting resources of these kinds of games, there are also fires to put out, pump stations to dredge hidden areas, people & animals to rescue. Yes it get's a bit repetitive sometimes while you're trying different approaches to get gold, but it's challenging without too much frustration or more than 1 or 2 repeat attempts. Which is the perfect pace for a wind down - the gameplay is relatively straightforward, not too easy, not that hard. If I was sitting down for a brain-melting marathon it would be a bit too simplistic and repetitive, but playing just a handful of levels at a time - it's good fun.
While I initially found the graphics underwhelming, once I started playing I really warmed to them. I don't play with the sound on so can't comment on the soundtrack. There are no bonus levels or extras, and just the one game mode, a bonus level would have be nice.
The only other things I found annoying were (a) when you hover over buildings, the popups impede your view of resources etc. and (b) when I exit the game, the "Yes" (to exit) button keeps moving around as I'm trying to click on it, the cute cub in the picture doesn't want you to go, which is very nice except I'd click and miss it the first 1, sometimes 2,3 times as it ran away from my cursor!
If you like the build-a-town type TM/strategy games, you'll like this one.
I recommend this game!

I eagerly await the next instalments in some of the TM games and have been looking forward to this one! Some of the levels seemed a bit familiar to levels/versions I've played before, but they are such fun! Very happy the instalments are continuing and the quality of the graphics and gameplay isn't diminished, tho' it is hard to beat the fun and great imagery of the earlier versions.
I particularly like the Royal Envoy games because they are good value with the different modes and bonus levels, there should be bonus levels in the other TM games too. It's not hard to get gold fairly easily on most levels with a bit of early strategy - which direction you go/what to build first. I rarely have to seek outside help in the forums etc., so there is little frustration there.
All in all good fun!
Keep them coming! :))
I recommend this game!

I like the Monument Builder games, I like the historical info you get along the way, and the town clearing & building game play is fun - it's one of the few games I bother noticing the storyline and enjoy readying the side bits. Most of the facts were great, I liked the history lessons between games. There was even a few pop quizzes while you played - more jewels for correct answers.
It gets hard to make gold time without enough jewels to spend on bonuses, tho! I didn't notice until halfway in that you lose the jewels you spent if you restart a level, so I wasted a lot and found myself replaying the first levels on more than one occasion, to collect enough jewels to play the subsequent levels with one bonus, automatic delivery. It was challenging but not in a head exploding way : ))
All in all, worth the play! There should be more of these games, with the fun gameplay and history lesson on the side.
I recommend this game!

I like this game : ))
The graphics are bright, the characters are cute - the way the little men run around, the background activity of rabbits hopping, birds flying past etc. I don't usually play sound beyond the barely audible but this soundtrack doesn't strike me as intrusive or annoying.
It's much like my other faves like the Royal Envoys, etc. where you run around building, clearing roads and collecting materials. Not as engaging and a lot easier to achieve gold time than those games, but nearly as fun.
In this game, you are enveloped in a fog that only clears as you clear the road, so the landscape (and where everything is) gradually opens up as you play. You have to clear the way to the buildings and produce enough materials to meet your goals. You also have a couple of hidden objects to find as you go on each level.
It's always good value getting two game modes - Casual and Arcade. I'm playing Arcade mode now and it has an added difficulty of pirates who wreck your constructions if you don't pay their ransom, that's all I can spot at this stage but it is still fun and a little harder this second time around.
Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Initially underwhelmed at the start of the demo: gameplay and graphics reminded me a lot of My Kingdom for the Princess, Royal Envoy and the like (some of my favourite TM games).
The graphics were nicely detailed but not as bright and cheery as the other TM favourites; not too mad on the colour shades, screen brightness is up to 11... It's quite straightforward to play and I thought it felt too much like the other TM build-a-town type games just "repackaged". Except there is more movement in the surrounding graphics all the way across the screen, with little people walking and horses & carriages constantly travelling the roads (virtually running over each other around corners if I look too closely).
Even so, I thought it was going to be boring, but then it started to get hard - you need to play quite strategically picking the right buildings/positions, especially if you are going for gold. (In fact I'm quite stumped on a couple of levels, can't get past silver, and have been waiting for someone to post tips; keen to get back now!). The grid showing you the spaces that can be built on helps.
Once I realised it wasn't going to be a walk in the park all the way through, my interest piqued :)) I should add tho', if you want an easy fun game to wind down with after a long day... don't pick this one!!
I recommend this game!

I don't know what it is about this installment of Fix-It-Up but I keep coming back to play it!!
The graphics are a little old fashioned now (tho' not unpleasingly so), there's not much to it beyond the Story challenge and Free play, and I don't know where I am on that map!, but I love the gameplay. I wish they'd do another one - a collectors edition type with extra games :)
