I've played many of these nancy drew games. I really like the interaction with the other characters and the graphics, it makes the game immersive. Plus, it's whodunit/detective oriented and I love mysteries.
I recommend this game!

This was just so tedious. I guess it is okay as these games go.
It looked good. But, I would rather have a good story than good graphics. It's like the mystery case files. The first few games had good stories. Then it devolved into a tedious series of puzzles. It's like it was designed by an algorithm or a 3 year old who just does the same thing over and over ad nauseum. I think a game needs a good story teller above all else, and this was abysmally bad in that way.
I don't recommend this game.

I usually play a similar game on a popular social website. This game has a sense of humor and great graphics. LIke most of these type of games, you have to balance energy-type points with experience and so forth. It's not like a hidden object games that you buy -- it's one of those hidden object game you play for free. You have to get used to only being able to play for so long before you must either wait a while or else spend money to continue. A fair trade-off.
I recommend this game!

I'm surprised to read so many negative reviews of this game. I absolutely loved this one. Loved the comic performances by Lea Thompson and the reality show team. I was completely engrossed in the story. It could have been longer, but I think that's because I enjoyed the game so much I wanted it to go on longer. This is in contrast to Escape from Ravenhurst, which I finished but only because I had spent the money for it and so felt obliged. I was tired by EFR's overly serious atmosphere and the puzzles seemed tedious.
Anyway, for Shadow Lake:
I loved the variety of characters -- check out the credits, there were a lot of characters in this one.
I loved the puzzles -- having the psychic ask you to find various objects for their psychic energy helped integrate the puzzles into the story.
Graphics were beautiful.
I loved the fog and the atmosphere.
As others have said, this wasn't the most difficult game but it wasn't embarrassingly easy either.
This was right up there with Dire Grove for me, if only it had gone on for a bit longer.
I recommend this game!
