I have all of this series and have enjoyed them over the years. This one left something to be desired. I felt the story line was weak and I , like some of the others, am getting a little tired of the cute little helpers. Also at one point in the story the detective is trying to rescue Ann , who has been abducted by the bad guys, but she has her cell phone and keeps telling him where they are going and how to find her. Really? Over all I just felt that there are much better games in this series. The dialog was pretty amateurish and the puzzles were not all that challenging and I'm not the brightest star in the sky when it comes to puzzles. I consider this one a weak 3 star and hope the newest one just out will be much better.
I'm a fan of this series and was not disappointed with this one. I felt the storyline was very good and kept you wanting to move on to the next challenge. This seems like a small issue but it was so refreshing to carry a tool for a long time. In the beginning Alice finds a knife and it stays with her through most of the game and what a concept to not have to search for a cutting tool umpteen times. There are some surprizing developments at the last part of the game which will leave you saying "I didn't see that coming'" I feel any fan of this series will love this one too and look forward to the next adventure.
This was a strange game for me. I usually can follow along with the story and anticipate my next move but I got lost many times during game play. I would end up with a pile of things in my tool box and nothing seemed to work for the task at hand. I leaned on the guide more than usual as I generally need it only to explain a particular puzzle. I won't say it's a bad game but for me it was very difficult. I haven't started the second game in this series yet so I hope it's a little more straight forward. I will say this as far as a review. I believe many will find this a very challenging game and I will recommend it to the hardcore puzzler.
I just finished this game (CE + Bonus) and absolutely loved it. This is my 4th in this series starting with Wrath of the Beast and this one in MHO is the best so far. Some puzzles were tricky but not impossible. I liked the fact that there were no arcacde style puzzles. As an older person my reflexes are not up to that anymore and I hate skipping. I never use hints and always try to get all the achievements. Others have done a great job of reviewing the actual game play so I'll just add that if you have enjoyed this series you will absolutely like this one.
Hi all. This game will fool you. From the beginning as the family arrives at their new home the dialog is kind of childish and hokey. My initial reaction was "I hope this improves." It did shortly after the plot was set and the challenges revealed. It is a long game with the task of finding 11 keys to open various past happenings. And believe me each key is a chore. The puzzles were doable and for an intermediate like myself many were a challenge. The expert puzzle players might find them too easy.
Beware. Some scenes have more than one morphing object. I didn't find all of them as I was into the game when I realized this.Overall I thought this was an excellent game and I would recommend this to all HO fans.
I just finished this game and the bonus round and was totally satisfied. I have this whole series and I'm a big fan of Emma. I won't go into a lot of game details as others already have. I was pleased that the storyline made sense and kept my interest up. Also the bonus chapter was relevant to the main story. Music was good, not overpowering, and fit the mood at whatever point you were at in the story. Finally I will say that if you like this series you will not be disappointed in this one.
I was slow buying this one based on previous reviews. However I have all the Witches Legacies series and I eventually bought it. I rarely download the free trials. I am pleased to say that I feel I made a good choice. I was a big fan of Lynn and I'm so so with Jack and Bertha. I felt the storyline was good and as others have remarked it followed a repetitive course in some cases. Overall my recommendation is if you are a fan of this series buy it.
I just recently found this series and just completed Beasts of Bremen yesterday. This plus the "Bound by Wishes" having 4 1/2 stars convinced me to buy Bound. The storyline for "Beasts" is great, the puzzles are fun and HOS are entertaining. The puzzles to recharge the Amulet are basically Match 3 which is my second favorite genre so is was a lot of fun. Voiceovers are realistic, graphics are great and for me I found no faults. As others have said "What's not to like." I am looking forward to getting into "Bound" I see no reason not to buy this one. Oh yes, and the Bonus Chapter gives you the explanation as to how the storylne develops.
I have played this series from the beginning with Lockwood Manor and I have throughly enjoyed each and every one. This one, The Sealed and Forgotten, is challenging for the intermediate player but very doable. I loved the storyline as it kept you guessing as to the good guys and bad guys. I won't take the time or space to go into detail as others already have. I will say that the bonus chapter actually made sense as it explained what had happened prior to Donovan showing up.
Great game and I'm looking forward to a 7th edition. Dave C
I recommend this game!

I nearly always read the ratings before buying but have learned "you can't please all the people all the time". This is a good example. I hesitated for awhile due to the review but bought it since I have all the previous issues.
I was pleasantly suprised to find that fit my level of compentancy very well. The mini games were challenging but no difficult and the HOS were also not difficult. I like a few others have stated the the arcade style games that require quick reactions are beyond me and I usually end up skipping.
For those who have purchased the other games in this series I would recommend that you get this one also. I think you will like it.
