I didn't expect to like this game so much. It has the right amount of puzzles to Hops for me. Also, the puzzles were unique. Even normal game play used unusual items like shells, etc as tools so it wasn't the same old knife to cut all of the time. It kept things interesting. Story wasn't the strength here but because of that coming back to the game was always enjoyable to just sit down and relax doing a few puzzles vs. memorizing characters and reengaging with a plot. I would definitely recommend to puzzle fans.
This is my favorite games series and I always look forward to a new game. However, it is sometimes disappointing (Rewind, Crossfade, looking at you). Pendle Tower though, had some of the old magic, the great layered puzzles and atmosphere you expect and love. I would call it "MCF Light", but it's still MCF which is more on par with other series now vs. way out in front, but still brings it. Pendle did NOT disappoint. It was a fun ride!
This game was a good example of how simpler graphics but still engaging puzzles and story line can be just as fun as one of the more well-known series. I liked it from the first scene to the last and searched out it's older game right after. Money well spent! Hope they bring out another in this series!
This game was so pleasant, it had me not wanting to leave this little world! I replayed all of the games in the bonus chapter. While it is a lot of Christmas, I started to be amazed at how they found a way to tie in each little item into the holiday. Story was woven in well and the artwork was beautiful.
This was an unexpectedly good game. I found myself being drawn in each time I opened it. Often, the luster wears off, but this kept me coming back with challenging games and a nice environment. Story line was noticeable throughout, could have been a little stronger in that area. Overall good quality game.
If you are looking to relax in a lovely setting with just enough challenge and story to keep you wanting to go back for more, this is it. It is beautifully produced and the art/theme/style is just what I look for in a game. I was sorry it ended. I could play this game every day.
It still has the same look that it's had in the past, but the voices were oddly done and the bonus chapter seemed like it was done by someone else. Though, I liked the bonus better. It just felt a little "phoned in". Not quite up to the usual but still an okay buy.
This was such a pretty game but as a casual gamer sometimes I want a hint. More than 90% of the time no hint was available. I've played hundreds of games and it's been a long, long time since I had to pull up a walk through (and more than once). When you play for relaxation the hint not being available is just annoying.
MCF has been my favorite game series since the beginning. And it's still good play, but it's just like so many other games now. Where are all of the striking story lines and environments from Ravenhurst to the Madam Fate, etc.? It's so vanilla now. I buy these without trial but wish I hadn't this time. Oh, it still has the many-part puzzles that are so iconic, but it is like the characters and story just are ABSENT. Takes away a lot of the fun factor for me.
