Just a few things to add...
Act I ends when the dog returns in the balloon.
I haven't played all that many RPG's yet, but this is the first I've seen that allows the player to customise characters. He gets to choose names for all the major animals if he doesn't want to go with the default names, and he gets to choose [male or female] and appearance of the two main characters.
There's much that can be easily missed without a walkthrough or help from forums, but I suppose that's normal for an RPG.
So, when is Act II going to be available?
I recommend this game!

Mystery Case Files®: Escape from Ravenhearst™ Collector's Edition
Mystery Case Files®: Escape from Ravenhearst™ Collector's Edition
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.

The storyline fit well with the rest of the Ravenhearst saga, but it didn't really resolve anything. I would have preferred actual hidden objects to the morphing used here. Certain challenges seemed pointless or unnecessarily repulsive, specifically Momma's chores and the purpose of the red and blue pills. I didn't mind the simulated violence and evidence of past cruelties. The strategy guide was quite helpful: I only had to use your walkthrough once, for the "V" puzzle, since the guide wasn't clear about what to do. As someone else pointed out earlier, it is a bit upsetting that none of the kidnapped residents was rescued, but that may be a misperception to be cleared up in another sequel. I do like happy endings. Overall, I have to give EFR four out of five stars. It is challenging, like its predecessors, and it's technically marvelous in my layman's opinion. Undoubtedly, I will be playing it again, but maybe not until I've replayed the first two so I can experience the story over from the beginning.
I recommend this game!
