Deep in the heart of an enchanted forest, a forbidden love blooms. Guide the human Eveline as she sets out to rescue her beloved from the clutches of a tyrant.
So I got a pet dragon in the first five minutes, and I have a pot to make potions in, apparently for the entire game,There are portals and bad guys, and a helpful witch with a secret door, as well as the common side lines of finding odd bits of papers for the achievement category, yet somehow this game feels like it just nipped a bit of the better parts of games we have all loved and kind of cloned the story. And even that would be ok, if the level of animation was as advanced and as technologically awesome.as the other games it feels to me like it copied. The art work was imaginative, it a bit blurry, and the map was helpful. Puzzles were kind of new, and some more challenging than others. It is an adventure game which I usually like but I felt it was somehow juvenile. If I was absolutely out of games, I might buy it when it comes out in the regular edition with a free game club pass, but for now I will pass on this one.

Ok, lets have some instructions. This is a complicated game, with some odd bits of quotes of wisdom thrown in every time you pass a level. We are running around is this lady's dream, and apparently there are outfits you can buy, but was never sure how you got the points to buy them. I spent five minutes in the trolley car trying to figure out just how to get a ticket to get to the introduction of the game. Did I mention no instructions except to tell you to use head phones for a better experience. Not sure a better experience is possible if we had downloaded an entire orchestra to go with it..... Oh and it offered to turn off the subtitles and that would make for an even better experience too. So I took it one step further and just turned off the game.
I think this game shows a lot of imagination. There are all kinds of secret doors and hideaways that open with new codes or keys. It is not too heavy on HO scenes ( that is a plus for me)but has some fun puzzles in every room.It is amusing to me too see what opens next so for that reason I will buy this game. Would it be nice if it had as many bells and whistles as some of the more advanced games we have seen recently.? Sure. However nothing beats the element of surprise, and I feel this game is loaded with surprises. I don't care about the story as much as the fun of following clues that lead you to the next thing., Talking pets and award trophies are fine, but with out imagination, its just more stuff. This is a good game and I liked the artwork also.

What I love about this series of games is the imagination and element of surprise that go into them. Great voice overs, beautiful graphics, fun HO scenes that require parts of the picture to be found, and interesting puzzles. Of course having it on sale today was super also. I played with my grand daughter who is eight. She is completely focused on the story which seems like a interactive fairy tale come to life. She loved the all the creatures who lived in the enchanted forest, and hogs the mouse as we complete all the tasks' in the game. This has improved her reading for school, and she can do all the puzzles as well as any adult now. I have been playing Blue Tea games with her since she was five and we love doing them together.
This game is just old fashioned, and a little boring. The graphics were outdated, and I was not blown away or surprised by anything. Played the full hour of the demo and will not look for it when it comes out on the SE either. What I did like was when a scene was finished you did not go back there. It had a mahjong feature if you did not want to look for hidden objects. The game had a lot of puzzles even if some of them were passé
I like the steam punk artwork in this game. I bought it because it was fun to play and I had a credit from buying six games last month. It is a relief not to have the same old HO every five minutes. Instead you have pictures of things that must be fond to unlock other stuff. The sound effects when doing that are wonderful. These were challenging to do also. It did seem to me that the artwork was done by two different groups. On the one hand we get these great steam punk fantastic renditions of old trains and imaginative worlds and then there is a talking owl or a spinning vortex that looks like they came out of the pages of a coloring book. It is very incongruent for there to be this much discrepancy with the artwork and it takes away from what could have been a really beautiful game. I am still going to have fun playing it, but I fear this will put off a lot of gamers. I am spoiled by the industry standard of new games being published that have a much more polished look to them.
I thought this game was fun to play. It had a nice feature of animated sketches that went with the story. You unlocked them as you played along. There was a logical sequence to the clues for each scene. The hint button told you what to do next so am not sure one would need a strategy guide. There were small items to collect that could be missed if not paying attention, but you could not get too far before you had to go back and get them. I did not see a map but there were achievement awards. The puzzles I had seen before but perhaps not in this context, There was a nice mixture of HO scenes and ones that were interactive silhouettes where each thing related to another thing which I am very fond of. Sound effects and music was nice. If I was out of another Big Fish game to play I would buy this now, but will wait till it come out as a SE, as I do want to own this game. Very nice.
Ok, I just played for an hour, but I liked the animated characters, the cute dog that becomes part of the hint process, and the logical series of steps between scenes. I am going to wait for the non collectors edition, but not because I don't really like this game. It was fun to play, had good art work, seemed very professional. Great Job!
I might get this later, but not as a collectors edition. My grand daughter liked it who is 8, but it did not seem to be up to the level of other games from Elephant. It lacked the ahhhh factor that some of the newer games seem to have. I would have liked some cute animated friends to play with and have some achievement awards for getting stuff correct. The puzzles were good, and I liked that some have a few different parts to them. When I think of a 'Grim type story' I think of more fairly tale overtones than this game had, . Art work was excellent in some places and not it others. The voice over art work was not animated, which would not have been much of a deal, if the general feeling of the game was not so gloomy. In comparison to Nut Cracker, which was so amazing and captivating, this game left me feeling a little flat.
When your daughter, Emily, is taken over by a mysterious force, you must travel to the Nightmare Realm to search for a cure. But nothing could have prepared you for what you find there…
I have savored playing this game, and drug out the entire collectors edition for several days as I just did not want it to end. It has a unique story line, amazing sound effects, beautiful art and was really cleaver. I am writing this review, even though there have been many reviews written now, to just say bravo to the makers of this game. It was one of the best games of 2012 though it came out on the last day of the year, and was not in the running for an award. Adventure fans, this is one to buy.
