Sherrylee1: the sulfur is sold by the Alchemist at Hidden Island. (Don't ask me how long it took me to find out, ok? :P)
Except for the issue with the sulfur, this game is pretty easy. If you ever get stuck, walk about the map until you find someone with a question mark above them, and help them with whatever problem they have, either to progress the story or to gain enough stars to open up more parts of the map (the more people trust you, the more secrets you learn).
The combination of hidden object game and adventure game makes this series one of my all-time favourites. I found the previous "Lost Tales" game to be somewhat lacking, but with this game we're back to the good old "click on everything, talk to everyone and gather every bit of flower, fur and food that's available" that I know and love. The story is good, the gameplay relaxing and the visuals remind me of the good old 90s games I played and loved. No bugs as far as I have experienced, and loads of fun.
Give the demo a try, the rest of the game is more of the same. You'll probably either love it or hate it, so buying sight unseen might be risky with this one. (But I do hope you fall in love with it, like I did.)

This is an excellent game ruined by bugs. During the three comic books the subtiles and lines did not match up. Not a problem, I simply disabled subtitles. For those dependant on subs, though, it would make it impossible to understand what's going on.
The real problems started when I got to the end. Want to replay a comic book? Too bad, clicking sent me directly to the end puzzle.
[spoilers]
I had earned two red and one blue marker. But I had to choose as if I had one red, one blue and one black marker, which made every effort of the game wasted time.
Bonus game? Wouldn't even play.
Go back to pick up collectibles I didn't find? Not allowed.
Tried to restart the game, and got an overlay of the bartender's end scene (before the choose-your-own-story-via-coloured-markers bit) and the beginning scene.
I'm throwing in the towel. Without some serious bug fixes, this game is unplayable.
This is a shame, since the game itself is an interesting concept and I like the idea a lot.

This is one of the best adventure games I've played this deckade, and with the excellent games on this site, that's saying something.
The gameplay is both challenging and interesting, and there are no cheap solutions. Every action is something you could have done in real life, like using a butterknife as a screwdriver.
The game is challenging. You have to think about what you do, and how to solve the problems you are faced with. That being said, the hint button is like a personal walkthrough, which means that you can always move forward in the game even if you've missed a clue (or more). (Or just play the game for the story, if that is what you prefer.)
Speaking of the story, this one is *good*. It's dark, interesting at every move, and you can choose whether to read everything you stumble over from emails about dart tournaments to love letters, or skip them and still understand the main storyline. But you will miss out on some interesting character interactions and greatly written mood.
I genuinely cannot reccommend this game enough. Not playing it would mean you miss out on one of the best games of the year.
I was surprised at how much I loved this game. Click to fill in areas of a picture, in classic paint-by-numbers without the mess.
But it's not without its problems. There's three of them that might make the game unplayable for you:
1) The areas to colour in can be ridiculously small. This is not at all helped by the fact that the clickboxes are only where the black lines are not. If there are black dots in an area and you click it, even if it's within the frame, it does not respond. It's annoying to have to be so precise.
2) There is no difficulty curve. The images are all jumbled together, and you can go from a truly intricate piece with 60+ colours to one with 12 colours.
3) Colour choices are sometimes spot on, and sometimes truly odd or eye searing. Grey skin or skin coloured lips, or the same colour next to itself several times (ugly as well as boring).
That said, I find this game truly relaxing. If I knew of another game with the same concept, I would probably recommend that one instead, but if you like zen-like games, this might be for you. But I recommend that you try before you buy.
First of all, this is new. The gameplay is way too easy, but at least it isn't something I've seen a million times before. I like the mini-battles, although they too are too easy.
Now for the negative. The loading screens show up every time my character takes a single step, and they last for ages. It breaks gameplay, and although I don't have the best computer, this is just ridiculous!
Second: I'm female. This game is very clearly not meant for me. Although you have a female main character, her only mission is to be sexy for the menfolk out there. (Don't believe me? If you spend enough games, you can make her walk around in nothing but a g-sting.) When the first client, who incidentally is also female, ends up naked within the first five minutes, I understand that I'm not this game's intended player. If there had been clothes options besides kinky, kinkier and naked, I wouldn't mind one or two kinky options, but when sexy dresses is all that's allowed, I'm out.
So that's money lost from me, not only for this game, but from later releases from this company.
