I thoroughly enjoyed this game. You get to help 3 or 4 brothers and their sister imprison one of the brothers as he was very naughty. I don't really pay too much attention to the story details as I just enjoyed the game play. There are HO's, some are find the object, some are put items where they belong so there is a good mix. Puzzles were very good. One was too hard for me but the others really gave my brain a good workout.
You also have to go from past to present, depending on the amount of light, which is controlled with lamps, curtains, etc. If you need a cabinet opened, you can open it in the past & it will remain open in the present.
Graphics are very good; loved the music, it was wonderfully creepy & fit the game very well. There was a lot of back & forth in the middle. One of the nice things was that the items collected were usually used right away so you are not carrying around a lot of stuff to sort through when you need something.
I recommend this game!

I enjoyed this game very much. You are going to an old, run-down mansion that you have inherited. Problem is, it comes with a ghost, a rather nasty one with pyromania. I had a hard time getting started, not sure if it was me or if it was the game. In any case, once I got going it became very interesting and enjoyable. The puzzles are not very hard and I wish they had been. There are many pages of a diary and letters to be find, which fill in the background of the story very nicely. The hint button will tell you where you need to go next if you get stuck. The HO scenes were a little murky and I did use the hint button. Some things really melted into the background.
A big plus for me was the music. Decidedly creepy and very appropriate for this game. Also, I am not sure why, but rain adds to the creepiness wonderfully and there was rain in this game. There are lots of places to go, much to explore, many rooms to find and still no butler showing up to help you. The few times he did make an appearance, it was more of a hindrance.
The first Shiver game, Vanishing Hitchhiker, made me jump a few times; this one gave me the full-on willies now and then. It was wonderful!
I recommend this game!

I wanted to like this game more than I could. You are a priest looking into what may be a miracle: A statue that cries blood. No HOS but you collect throughout the game. Need blue marbles? Green marbles? Keep on the lookout for them because they are there, somewhere. There are angels to collect, not to unlock anything, just for the challenge of it. I did not find them all. I may replay this on a rainy day in a few years & will find them then. What I disliked the most was it tapped into the whole "Priests are not always Holy" idea. Hated the ending! Maybe it was a girl-thing but completing the final task made me hesitate. Visually OK, VO all right, music so-so. If you get it as a freebie then you will get your money's worth. Beginners may like it.
I recommend this game!

The asylum is from your nightmares. Well, no kidding, and when can I wake up? I love a game that makes me jump & sends a cold chill down the back of my neck. I also like rain with a creepy game, really adds to the atmosophere. You get to explore your nightmare while interacting with a couple of people. VO's were good, HOS were nice, a little dark & some objects hard to find, and, bonus, morphing objects. I did not realize until the very end that I could change the brightness, which would have made the HOS easier to see. No map, some back and forth but HOS were not always visiting the same scene over & over again, a definite plus. When you finally fix the elevator & get to the second floor & patient's rooms, prepare for your heart rate to jump. The second room contained my nightmare & made my skin crawl. I loved it! Minigames were good & a couple were hard but the built in strategy guide was a nice little bonus. I can't wait for their next game, "Frozen".
I recommend this game!

A psychic (you) is helping a young girl in a coma who was found by the side of the road with a bloody knife. Although the subject matter of the story was disquieting (an abused child with a split personality), the game play was very good. Excellent puzzles, some I have never seen before, and they were a good challenge. Nice map, whisking you to the location you want, always a plus. It also indicates locations where something needs to be done. The hint button will direct you if you get stuck. Graphics were very good, I only needed one or two hints during all the HOS's, & the voiceovers were excellent, not intrusive at all. There is a nurse who helps you, the psychic, unravel the girl's problem while you rummage around in her mind. The nurse speaks behind a surgical mask so the words not syncing up with mouth movement is not a problem, something that irritates me to no end, Game play was a good length and the ending was satisfying. I definitely recomment this game!

If you like visiting the same location again & again & again & looking through the same objects each time, this game is for you. The story could have been creepier since you have to wander through fog many times, I kept expecting someone or thing to jump out at me for a scare but no such luck, The story about the main character was confusing. The people who were there are missing for some reason, which was not made clear. And the ending left me hanging. Did she make it home? What happened to the BF after leaving the boat? Graphics were really good & most puzzles had a bit of challenge to them. I would recommend this game because I was not sure where it was going, which was intriguing but my questions were not answered. Still, it wasn't that bad & I think most people will enjoy the creepfest.

I really liked the stories. You can't beat gangsters, witch hunters with fake mustaches or a dead pirate. Graphics, VO & HOS were good. Some of the HOS's were "find what is this shape" & then you had to use it to find the next thing, My only negative criticism is that the puzzles were way, way too easy. So not challenging. Other than that, I liked this game & recommend it. It made me laugh in places, always a good thing.
I recommend this game!

I was very disappointed with this game. On the one hand, it was difficult to get started because the hints weren't very good & it was hard to understand what was needed. Once I got in the swing of things it went better, although it remained a challenge. The childish voices & piping fairie's voices made me feel like I was playing a child's game but no child would be able to play this game. The graphics were gorgeous, I have to give them that & some things were interesting. Story was good as was the level of challenge. Still, I found it a bit disconcerting.
I don't recommend this game.

This is the best game I've played in a while. I played the SE version and it was a lot of bang for the buck. The puzzles were ones I have never seen & one of them was very hard. Graphics were good but a couple of the HOS were a little murky, the voice overs were clear, not much music at all and lots & lots to do. Hint button will point you in the right direction, which was very helpful since I got stuck a couple of times. There is a map that takes you instantly to where you want to be & reminds you of what you need to do in that room. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I recommend this game!

I bought this game last year when it was Part 1 & 2. I could not, at first, figure out how to start so checked the Strategy Guide. Then I was off & running!
This is one of the most original games I have ever played. The storyline was fascinating, graphics were excellent and I became totally involved in the story and action. Because I have read the other reviews, I thought I'd put my 2 cents in.
Since reading other reviews I also decided to play it again as it has been more than a year since I finished it. This is a game/story that has "stuck with me" over time & I have thought about it many times since playing it. I highly recommend this game if one is looking for a thought-provoking game to challenge your intellect & puzzle-solving abilities.
I recommend this game!
