What a fun game! The balance between HO scenes and figuring out what to do next/mini-games was perfect. The HO scenes weren't too difficult (I hate it when they're so hard they give me a headache from trying to see things that aren't really there), and the puzzles were great, too.
There IS a hint button for HO scenes, and while there is also a hint button for figuring out what to do next, I found it wasn't very useful at all.
At first, I thought I was in for a treat; but, then I started playing.
The singing...really? I wouldn't have minded if the song had something, ANYTHING going for it. There was no rhyme or rhythm to the songs...it was just thoughts to "music". Weird, and not enjoyable. I had to skip over them, which meant I lost a lot of the storyline...and I really enjoy a good story.
If you LOVE HO scenes...you will adore this game. For me, HO scenes are a means to an end. The end being....everything else. In this game...the HO scenes are the game. Almost the entire game. *yawn*
I also hated the fact that you get "graded" on your performance after each chapter. I guess that wouldn't bother me if I could actually see what I was hunting for in the HO scenes, but a lot of the time, you just can't. It's dark and small and they intentionally name things oddly so you have no idea what they're asking for. It's just frustrating.
So, to sum up. If you LOVE HO scenes and don't mind that being the entire game. You'll love this game.
I'm sure I'm late to this party. This game feels older, which has a few drawbacks, but all in all, it's fairly timeless.
On the upside, unlike other time management games, this one only has you seat the guests in the restaurant. The staff does the rest, and if you've trained them properly (ie: spent enough money on them), they do the job quite well.
I like it this way better...none of the ENDLESS point and click, point and click! Great!
On the downside, as I mentioned, this game feels older. The graphics aren't "all that", and I hate that I can't see the entire restaurant at once, I have to pan around, which drives me nuts.
But, I still played it all the way through, and enjoyed it a lot.
I really loved this game. It's a bit different from most time management games and I just spent a very enjoyable late morning/early afternoon playing it. While you do compete against your "old classmates from high school", there aren't any penalties for not beating them, other than you lose some points, but I'm not really sure those points MEAN anything in the end. You can still finish the quest in your own time.
It's not terribly long...maybe 4-5 hours? But, it was easy-going and fun.
Loved this game! Different from the others in that you had to think about what items you needed in the HO scenes!
The storyline was cute, and the voice acting was great. My ONLY problem with this game was that it was way too short. I finished it in under 3 hours. :o( So, that's why I took away a star.
But, I recommend this game and hope the creators will make more like it...only add more so that it's worth the $6.99 price tag.
Oh, this game. It coulda been something special. I had such high hopes when it first loaded. Colorful images! A cute magic wand that distracted me throughout the entire opening scene! Wonderful voice overs! Great story!
But then...you had to actually try to find the TEENY TINY objects that they ask you to find. You had to walk back and forth between rooms several times to find them. And you had to listen to (or skip over) lots and lots of dialogue. Don't get me wrong, the dialogue was great... and entertaining...and sometimes even funny. It's just that there was SO MUCH of it.
I did enjoy this game. I really did. And I'll even recommend it. But, it could have been so much more.
Every time you switch scenes, there's a "loading" page. Annoying! The game is clunky and boring. It pretty much tells you exactly what to do, so there is no thought or challenge to go along with this game.
It might be a decent time waster, but that's about it.
