I had such high hopes for this game and I've been playing these games for over a decade, so I'm not a newbie to these. Very rarely have I not finished a game but this one was awful!! The graphics were terrible and while I loved that the collector items were a challenge to find, some were impossible. I still don't know what some were because I just finally clicked every inch of the picture until i "found" it. The storyline wasn't very fluid (maybe because I didn't play very long each time I tried because it was so tedious and unenjoyable). There was nothing to make this game fresh or enjoyable.....an evil entity captures my friends/family and I have to rescue them....blah, blah, blah. I am usually really good at the puzzles (my favorite part) but I found myself using my Hint and Skip buttons, which I almost NEVER do, and I decided to just quit. This game became more of a task than enjoyable experience. Very disappointing but play the trial and decide for yourself.
I didn't like the controls. I thought the instructions to some of the puzzles were very vague (even though I was able to figure them out on my own). I didn't like the storyline and thought it went very slowly (I played 81 minutes of the 90 minute trial). There were some things that were different about the tasks and hidden object scenes but I was so board and uninterested that I couldn't even finish the trial. I'm with one other reviewer that said why not try another setting. Rather than Norse god history, try Greek or Ancient Egypt. I've even likes some games that took place underwater or in outer space. If it's going to be a game, then be creative. You can play the trial and make up your own mind, but it's not for me.
I'm usually into adventure/puzzle games but I like the occasional time management game to keep things interesting. I just played an "Emily" game where she and Patrick got married. This doesn't hold a candle to that game. I thought this would be great as I love planning things like weddings, baby showers, parties, etc.. but it was not even interesting nor enjoyable. I didn't like that I had to pick the customers up and place them where they needed to be rather than just multiple clicks to stage my future moves. Also, selecting earrings and unique gifts were just process of elimination. The grooming chair was just clicking on it...there were no choices. I did like the fact that you could use your earnings to not only upgrade the salon but also to do home improvements (best part). I only played this for 25 minutes before uninstalling it, so it may have gotten better as the game went on but there was no storyline as there are in the Emily games and it was just plain boring. Make your own decision but definitely play the demo first.
This apparently is an original Big Fish Games developed game as there was no other developer name on it. The graphics and scenes are very amateur and cartoonlike (even by kids standards). The first scene was interactive and even after clicking on everything and getting to the first arcade game, I couldn't figure out how to get to the main game and even after scoring over 600,000 (with no instructions on how to play, even in the strategy guide), it still wouldn't let me go farther. It just kept saying I had failed. Strategy guide was no help. I finally just uninstalled the trial. Maybe you'll have better luck than me.

I thought this game may have a little different storyline since it was from a developer that I had never played before.....but I was Wrong! Still...someone's been taken over by evil and we have an amulet that we have to charge to help them I liked the amulet idea the first 100 times developers used it but it's getting a little old now. Pros: I like that you can investigate the same scene in today's world and also in the shadow realm I like that there's a transportable map that shows where you have current activites that need to be completed. I liked most of the puzzles (they were not too hard & not too easy) I liked that you may need to use items in your inventory to interact with the ho scene to find something (this is fairly unique)
Cons: Graphics are cartoonish and mouth doesn't move when characters are speaking. There were times when I wasn't sure what item to use where and some things just didn't make sense. For a collector's edition....there were no collectibles or morphing objects that I found. There really needs to be something additional for the game to warrant twice the price! As I said before.....it's the same story line. PLEASE developers come up with something new!! Throw some twist in there....anything to change it up a bit.
I was so uninterested with this one that I almost didn't finish the demo. This is a No for me.

I, like another reviewer, sooo wanted to like this game. It's a different storyline and I like the out in space theme as there are so many more possibilities because it's exploring the unknown and the developers can make the world look like anything they could imagine......islands floating on clouds, cool underwater cities or huges insects and colorful flowers. The problem was that everything moved sooo slowly and became really uninteresting. HO scenes were not only challenging but items were too vague and virtually hidden from view. Ex: I had to find a coin that was in a petri dish of burgundy liquid and the coin was submerged in the liquid and was a slightly darker circle than the rest of the liquid. Another had me find a bandage and there were 2 in the scene but you had to pick the right one. There was only one puzzle that I encountered in the trial and it was turning boxes to restore a picture. There were about 35 boxes and it was monochromatic. It was challenging but not too hard. I did start out in expert mode but tried casual mode after a while because I was having to use hints to even find out what to do. I wanted to explore this planet and love this game because I've been waiting for a different storyline, but I really struggled just to get thru the trial. Sorry, not a buy for me....even on sale!

I was rather disappointed in the slow and shallow storyline of this game. I am usually more interested in gameplay but I felt the story wasn't focused on as much as it could've been because I think greek mythology is interesting and is a refreshing storyline that doesn't involve a "vengeful ghost". GAMEPLAY: - There is a transportable map that shows where actions are available - 4 modes of play including custom (I love this option) - Hint highlights an item and points you to where you should use it. - No journal that I found - No morphing objects that I found - 21 collectible statues of gods and when you go to your collection, it will tell you the name and history of that god. PUZZLES: ......the first 2 were ultra easy and virtually laid out the answer for you so you were basically just following the steps. ......fortunately, the next few got more challenging and I had to spend a few minutes figuring them out but they weren't too hard. HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES: --- These were mildly interactive list. Ex:You had to put a teddy bears head on and then find the needle and thread to sew it on to "find" the teddy bear. Others just had to have things moved. -- One was silhouette and you had to find multiples. -- You could play a match 3 game instead of the HO scene....yea!! I LOVE this option. I don't always use it but I like to have something like this if I get tired of HO scenes or to finish the HO scene after I find the interactive items.
I think this game's story could've been interesting and was different from the norm. It was a bit too disjointed and cartoonish for me. I think alot of people will like this game but I'd recommend this game only if it's on a good sale.
I recommend this game!

I can find the good in most games but this one was awful! I played 43 minutes of the demo then uninstalled it. Negatives: -I began playing in casual mode (there's casual, advanced & hard but it doesn't tell you what makes each mode different such as "sparkles on ho scenes"# but quickly changed to advanced in the 1st scene as everything you need to pick up sparkles immediately in casual mode....no adventure what so ever! -Even in advanced mode...you're shown a picture of what to pick up in each scene #not HO scenes but just the scene in general. -There is a transportable map but it doesn't tell you what scenes there are active searches in. -One of the puzzles was a poster that you had to put the pieces back together that had been ripped up. Once you found the pieces, you reassembled the puzzle. In hard mode #you got a choice in the scene# you had to turn pieces and put the puzzle together but in casual mode #which I thought would maybe be to put the puzzle together without having to rotate the pieces# you just click on each puzzle piece and it rotates and goes where it should be placed. So again, not easier....just no challenge at all! -Characters are almost silly. Captain Froissart, whom you meet in the 1st scene, falls over the side of his flying ship and you find him hanging from a rope with one hand and continuing to smoke his cigar with the other. -The accents are not Parisian. I don't know what they are but the music and scenes are very parisian but accent is very muddled #I usually don't care about this but it bothered me because it just didn't match the game#. -After 43 minutes all I knew about the story was lightening kept kidnapping girls and apparently turned them into puppets.
Positive: -The one HO scene I encountered was the captain telling a story and you had to find the words in the story written in bold letters or you could switch to a list. This was a little different although not interactive. -There are piggy banks in each scene to find with coins in them that you can use to restore different wonders of the world #1st one is the Eiffel tower#. This is the only reason I played the demo as long as I did and made my review 2 stars.
I would not recommend this game as I felt like there was no adventure, really no interesting puzzles and no challenge at all. All I was doing was going from scene to scene picking up things that sparkled and the story didn't engage me at all. Save your time on this one....it was a big disappointment for me!!

Alice is now 12 years old and she can open portals in mirrors (while her parents can open portals from books). After her mother warns her of the evil that can exist in other worlds....Alice is found in a coma by a shattered mirror. Surprise! Her parents must find a way to save her.
--There are 4 levels of play including custom which I love. --You begin playing as Maria. --It took me 75 out of the 90 minutes available to complete the trial. --There are 48 collectibles that looks like circles with an open book in them. When you click on the collectible icon in the inventory, you are taken to a puzzle and each collectible provides you with a piece of the puzzle. If you've been to a location and you didn't get the collectible, it will show you the location. However, I didn't get one in the volcano and then I couldn't return so be sure you find them while you are in each scene. --You have a journal with notes, a transportable map, objectives and achievements. --You have a dollhouse with missing rooms. As you find the rooms, Alice leaves clues in the rooms and helpful items for you. (this was a bonus for me as there are no morphing objects which I love but were sadly missing from this game#. --Some items that you find need to be combined or fixed in your inventory before you can use them. I love games being so interactive. This game is very interactive so you're not just watching everything happen. --HO scenes are interactive and different. I think there were maybe 4 in the trial. Find multiples of things and interactive list so far. One was looking down in a well and as you found items, they were put on a board that slowly raised the bucket out of the well so you could get what you were really there to find. Note.....I am NOT a huge HOG fan #I like puzzles and adventure better b/c I find the HO scenes slow the game down# but I really liked these and felt they were spaced out well. --Mini games were spread out and occured through out the scenes. They became so much a part of the scene a couple of times that I didn't see the "?" on the screen to tell me the instructions to the games. --Hint is directional. I did have trouble one time....it pointed me to a scene then kept telling me there was nothing left to do there. Thankfully, I had the strategy guide to refer to. --You and Pierre #Alice's dad# get help from other worlds thru portals you have created #in previous Nevertales story# thru books and you visit characters and places from 1st installment. --There were extras such as replayable HOG's, wallpaper, concept art and replayable music. --Also, achievements and other categories that I couldn't open in the trial....Gallery, Tower Defense, Travelers and Treasures. There is even a review of original Nevertales story that can be played.
I am so excited about the amount of interaction in this game. I love it when we have to find pieces and assemble things to be able to use them rather than just pick them up and click on the scene to use them.
I would like to have seen more vibrant colors and scenes but I'm not one that gets too hung up on that type of thing. Music wasn't annoying and I only noticed it in the HO scenes.
I hope my review has helped and I highly, highly recommend this game. I have to wrap this up because I'm anxious to buy it and continue playing!!
Just when you think it was a happy ending....Lynn has been kidnapped and you have the help of a evil looking Elizabeth doll and a creepy but cute Imp with green glowing eyes. I've only been through the trial but I can't wait to purchase this and keep playing.
Graphics and music aren't a huge deal for me but sometimes I mute the music b/c it gets annoying after a while but I didn't even notice the background music. The graphics I thought were crisp and clear. The characters mouth's do move when they're talking as I know this bothers alot of gamers if they talk without the mouth moving.
4 modes....Easy, Normal, Hard and Custom (I love this option!#. Inventory is lockable and there is a strategy guide #I'm not sure if it follows your progress as I haven't had to use it yet) There is a diary, a transportable map that indicates areas with available tasks, the imp is also on the inventory bar and gives you your objectives. The imp also assists you when you can't reach something.
There are 29 puzzles which are very fun...not too hard and relatively unique. I've played 5 HO games in the trial so far that are interactive list. Very clear, not junked up. If you prefer, you can play a matching game instead. I love this option as I'm not a big HO fan but I found myself torn because I found these HO scenes fun to play.
Collectibles: There are 40 puzzle pieces to find and as you find 8 pieces, it will open a story in your diary. There are also 35 morphing objects which are very fun to find but actually pretty hard to spot.
I didn't play the 1st two witches legacy games so I'm not sure how they compare but this one is a winner in my book. I love the customizable game play and option to play a different game instead of HO scenes. I hope this helps you decide if you want to try this but this is one of the best Big Fish games I've played in a while. Definite buy for me!
