I was all into IHO games for some years, but of late am just getting so very tired of the same old, same old. As some other reviewers remarked for the CE of this game, it really offers absolutely nothing special or new. Ghosts, child hero, animal helper, simplistic mini games, boring HO scenes. Sure, the graphics are great and the VOs and music overall are good, but hey, if I want to have that I rather watch a decent movie. Good graphics and sound nowadays need to be part of a game and don't make it special anymore.
There is absolutely nothing innovative or different about this game. In fact it's rather easy and mindless I suppose folk new to the genre or not tired of it yet will enjoy it, but for me it is plain boring. I hardly lasted the demo hour and really, the repetitiveness of the tasks, bucket for water, slingshot for bird carrying something in it's beak, keys for locks ... hello, been there, done that, got the t-shirt 500 times over. And the story lines get really mega tired by now and the non sensicalness of "strategically" placed pieces of paper with info on them ... not even kids would fall for that and it really doesn't make for immersive or captivating game play. And in the end this is meant to be a game, not a movie, not a story book, not an audio track, it's meant to be a game that's fun and fresh and it fails on those counts completely.
This developer once upon a time was ahead of the pack, but now it's just crawling along with the crowd - pity.

I am not really into shot-em-up type of games, but love a good match3. This was such great fun and enough of a challenge to captivate me for hours without an overload of frustration.
It's not really a Match3 as such as it demands good power-up strategy. It's sort of weird how an rpg and match3 meet with this, but it really is great fun. Out of the box, which is great for a change.
This is one of the weakest games I have yet to lay eyes on. All this bounciness and dingling, really truly kindergarten material. I fail to understand why BFG is supporting this game so much, as there is nothing about it that makes it special or enjoyable. It's really a super weak mini match3 game and at that badly done. It takes a felt hour for it to finish all it's gedingle at the end of a level, the graphics are weak, challenge ... what challenge, story ... what story.
Sad affair all around. I only installed this because I was promised 60% off my next game, but don't know how that is meant to materialize either.
I just love building games and honestly am so tired of the ongoing IHO games on offer, so I was more than excited when I saw this one coming up the other day - finally!!
Even though there were already a number of bad reviews, I know that it takes a specific person to like and enjoy building games, so I gave it a try. Well, this is so bad, I can hardly believe it. I mean there were casual builders around already years and years ago like Zeus and all it's various sequels and variations, then there were official big ones like Settlers or the Anno series. The devs of this game obviously didn't look at a single builder game that made it big before they did this little effort, because there is nothing to redeem this game, not even the graphics are pretty. Haha, I've seen a lot of bad games, but most at least have something nice about them, say a lovely sound track or really cute graphics - well, it shouldn't be possible, but this has not a one nice aspect to it. It's slow, painfully so, like literally watching grass grow, then nothing is automatic, one has to "pick up" all goods. The whole concept it completely convoluted. For example in other good builder games, one creates houses of varying flavours which then are populate by people which are workers - makes sense, doesn't it. Not with this offering. No, first you have to recruit them and it's not very apparent where and how to do that. Then you build something .. ah, no, but wait, you haven't build anything, you just designated a spot for it, now you still have to trigger a worker to amble over first to actually do the building work. So you do that, now you think the building can actually start happening or producing, but wait, you now have to first designate a worker to it. Really, that's such a fun killer, perhaps they thought to make the time pass before anything happens make the players have to click around a lot ;(
What a disappointment. I wonder why BFG even offered this, perhaps because there are (hopefully) complaints about the permanent HOs on offer, as if there is no other casual gaming anymore.
Anyway, unless you or one of your friends have shares in the dev company I don't even recommend trying this. Believe me when I say "its bad".
This sounded so intriguing, except it's boring right from the start. I mean these type of games have been around a long time and mostly it's some science theme where one ends up building all sorts to make a ball fall through a hoop or the cat get the mouse or whatever. What they all have in common is for one a speed-up button - not this bridge building thingy, though. One has to sit and wait for all the riders and horses to get across the bridges - first 2 times that was cute, then it got boring quickly.
Also, already in the tutorial type levels the goals where not achieved when doing as told by the teacher -> duh??
Overall, the same thing over and over and over, that I was indeed over it after trying for 30 minutes ;(
The devs should try out the over 10 year old series TIM (The Incredible Machine) to see how something like this should be done.
This is clearly a cell phone or tablet game and at that not too intuitive. I remember other games before where one ended up with a tile in hand, so to speak, but at least it was anchored to the cursor so one would know without having to check somewhere else on the game board what type that piece is. So no, this could have been done better even for android or ios. Also, those build-a-garden levels in between are totally ridiculous in my book and I fail to see the fun in mirroring a boring colour display and at that timed.
I ended up playing to the end of the trial time so obviously something about it was enjoyable, but I think the devs have to go back and not try to create a "one fits all" because on a PC/laptop this is too small to be fun.
All in all this could be a freebe in an appstore somewhere perhaps with ads on the sides, seeing that the game field is so small anyway and whoever enjoys it can do so without much pain. It won't be me, though.

Sorry, I really tried to like this game and again played the demo just now after a gap of a few month, but alas, there is not much to redeem it in my opinion.
There is basically only one thing wrong with it, but that throws the whole game into the realm of "useless", which is that the board is way too small. 10+ fields across and 10+ up in a crocked shape and then 3 blocked areas in the middle somewhere how is that meant to be fun? It's just luck to see that some pieces fall the way one needs them without much skill required. So it's endless useless moves to wait for the correct piece to eventually come down - sorry, that's really boring and not enjoyable.
What others seem to like is for me annoying which is some other game types thrown in between levels, like hidden objects. I don't really think those 2 type of game modes merge well and I've only ever seen that done successfully a couple of times. Also the storyline (I happily play match3 without one) is of the annoying variety with the one guy having to "talk" after every level ;(
So yes, it's cute and pleasing to the eye and ear, but as far as match3 is concerned it's a looser in my book.
When I saw the pictures and description I thought, oh cool, a Zenerchi type match3 game, what a nice change. But alas, the implementation is bad and the rotation of the ball/disk is very poorly executed. I tried it with all different settings, even with the keyboard cursors, but no go, it never rotated to where I wanted it or how I wanted it to.
Great idea, but near unplayable and I am quite quick and accurate with a mouse or keyboard. Zenerchi is a good example of a game where this was executed beautifully, so it's possible even with a turning disk.
Sigh, and here I thought for once something other than the ongoing IHO games. For years getting the daily BFG newsletter was something to look forward to, but at the moment it's depressing because there seems to be nothing else but IHOs. I suppose somebody is buying them and loving it ;) I for one am a bit tired of those and the ever same story lines and mechanics. Where is a decent time management or match3 game??
A last word on "Hungry for Gems", it's also not visually pleasing and rather boring, again, good idea, mediocre execution and let me not even mention the senseless bore of having to find some fragment of something in the scene - superfluous bells that don't add anything in my opinion and increase the tedious factor.

Dragon Keeper is a bit a different time management game and it's great fun. I only stumbled across it a couple of months back and see that the latest installment has been around since 2012 .... so .... where is the next version! I've had such fun and have re-played it already a couple of times and bought the first one also, which wasn't as fun as the second, but alas, I replayed that one already too ;) I cannot even say what makes this such fun, it just is and it's great!

Wow, just when I was moping about because I had no fun game to play right then, up came the new installment of Chicken Invaders.
These guys are really outdoing themselves and it's such a good example of how to do sequels without killing what made the franchise so great in the first place.
All the game mechanics are as they were and the overall approach and premise is identical. Some might think so now it would get boring, but it just doesn't.
Firstly there are new scenes so to speak, for example underwater, which is really wonderfully executed, down into a crater and on an icy planet with related wind, storms and all.
Also, there's a lot of play from the side or top instead of the repetitive from the bottom, which makes for a super non-boring flow with new excitement around each corner.
Then there are new unlockables, like score handicaps and certain deals for more points, say only have one life to start with for an added 10% score bonus, or get 20% more keys.
Also some new guns have been added when I thought they must have exhausted what's possible for a shooter and here they come with something throwing chicken nuggets and another gun that sort of spreads laser beams - real fun to explore, try out, experiment with and get annoyed with if one accidentally exchanged one's forks for nuggets ;)
I don't know how often I have already played (and finished) this and I don't think I am even close to having exhausted my ability to come up with new goals for myself, trying out the handicaps, different backgrounds, etc.
In general I don't enjoy shooters at all, besides not being good at them, but this is just such outrageous fun that I feel sorry for anybody that doesn't at least try it out, as they might be missing real cool excitement.
Please, can we have greatness like this more regular!
