I have been playing this game a few hours every day and it is fascinating. You have an interesting story to follow along as you select locations on a large map. There are "quests" to fulfill that give you rewards and treasure maps to find that give you another location to search. Once you finish the main game, there is an extensive collectors game, with a new map but similar goals to the first. You can play this game for weeks of fun! Try it and you'll be hooked!

How did this game get released? The mouse doesn't work, it wants to you "press button" to continue? Space bar sometimes works, ESC key works sometime. No progress can be made, It looks like it could be fun, but it is too slow and impossible to navigate. And of course, no tutorial or help.
The Dark Parables stories are such a treat. I think this is the tenth one I've played and each is about a unique fairy tale character. If you haven't played the others, you should give them a spin as well. This Goldilocks is Princess Leda of Barsia, who has the Midas touch and turns things - and people - into gold.
You are again the detective, trying to solve the mystery of an uncovered artifact that seemed to let mechanical beasts and their evil leader into Barsia. You need to see Queen Valla, but it seems she is gearing up for war with her arch enemy, the Olesians, and has a few mechanical bears of her own!
This is a game to be savored and enjoyed. The HOPs are all FROGs - fragmented items to be found and automatically assembled into something you need. All the parts are not that easy to find and I had to use the hint button a few times for that one last piece! The mini-games are fun but a bit easy. My favorite is the multi-part interactive Goldilocks story. There are lots of puzzles.
The CE Bling includes Pictures, Music, Video, Puzzles, HOPs, and Bonus Video. There is also my favorite of Parables, which you can view after finding a few pieces of the Parable puzzle. They add and explain the story line. There are also 40 collectible Snowflakes -- I only found one. They are quite hidden in each scene and I tried pretty hard to look for them. There is even an icon on the screen to let you know if you've missed one.
There are 4 modes of difficulty, including custom. The voice-overs are excellent. Even Jack - from Jack and the Beanstalk, I think - makes an appearance.
Try this one, I think you'll enjoy it.
I recommend this game!

Ghosts, ghosts, and more ghosts!

fromstumbling around a deserted railway trying to find my way home
This is the creepiest of the Redemption Cemetery series! The opening is a bit gruesome, and the sense of doom hovers throughout the game. I love it!
You board a train and wind up back in the 1940's trying to help lost souls get to salvation and get you back to the present. There were a lot a scenes that made me "jump" and I don't frighten easily. Anyway you meet poor Rupert Lee's ghost, who let his only daughter Ivy die in order to save the train and its passengers. He sends you back in time to help Ivy, save the train, and free him from his doom. He is only the first of several lost souls you will meet on this journey, which is standard for Redemption Cemetery scenarios.
The mini-games are not too hard, one being matching runes to climb out of a pit. The HOS are either find x items, or identify items in a story that moves the tale along. A new twist is, instead of clicking on an item like a drawer to open it, you must slide it open instead.
As is typical with this developer, there is plenty of CE bling. There is music, screensavers, wallpaper, art, HOS, movies, mini-games, skull collection, achievements and the bonus game. The skulls you collect allow you to build several cemetery scenes. The achievement awards are quite cool - strange looking creatures with awards for Balance and Pay.
This is a creepy, wonderful game that I can't wait to buy!
This would be a great SE game, but doesn't really have any of the bling or clever puzzles for a CE game. The story is a bit confusing. You are Natalie Leighton, partner of Jason who was wounded by the Shadows when he tried to attend a meeting about the Blue Veil. The Shadows also kidnap the reporter Albert, but the proprietor of the Inn doesn't believe you or even want you in his hotel! It seems the Shadows also want the Blue Veil, that seems to be sacred to the Knights Templar.
You can play the HOS games or Mahjongg. The HOS are lists with an item or two requiring extra steps. One of the mini-games lets you reprogram your key to enter Albert's hotel room.
There is no CE Bling except a bonus scenario. No morphing objects, no hidden items to find. No extra jigsaw or stained glass puzzles.
Nevertales games are always intriguing and this one has a "gem" of a story. It seems the kingdoms of Gellum and Igni are at war until Ashbringer of Igni spots the beautiful princess of Gellum and falls head over heels in love and gives up the battle! The five kingdoms all live in peace until one day the handsome Ash begins to crystallize. So you don your helmet and gloves and belt and rush off to visit your Aunt, the Wind Baroness, who owns the Healing Sceptre in order to heal your husband Ash. You are accompanied by his brother Hark, who can turn into a raven at will and helps you with your quest. You also receive the Ring of Fire from Ash, which makes you impervious to heat and lets you control flames. Which also happens to save your life!
The art work is gorgeous, the voice overs fantastic. I really became immersed in this game, and have got to have it NOW! Ash is too handsome to remain a crystal!
There are lots of extras with this developer. There are three levels of achievement - gold, silver, and bronze - for a total of 27 both hint/skip related and game activity related. The CE Bling includes Music, HOS, Art, a Legends Puzzle, the Bonus Game, a Color-Connect puzzle, plus morphing objects in the HOS, and 40 collectible clouds that convert to puzzle pieces. If you miss a cloud, when you do the puzzle, you can click on the ones missed and be transported to that scene to find the one you missed. I like having a second chance! There are four modes of play including custom which lets you set your hint and skip timer way down if you are impatient like I am.
There were only two HOS in the demo, but both were unique. In one, you put together a cannon before searching for the items. In the other, you find items that advance the story of the 5 kingdoms and their artifacts.
The Falcon airship is quite cool, and you work fairly hard to raise the sails to fly to the Wind Kingdom. Figuring out your course is a mini-game to avoid clouds and arrive within 7 moves. Piloting the ship feels quite realistic - not that I've ever piloted an airship. Just as you recover the Healing Sceptre and return to Ash.........the demo ends!
This is the third in this series and it doesn't disappoint. You are an agent of the League of Light - you can pick male or female - and are sent to Stoneville to track down another agent, Louise Gray. Louise is the daughter of the head of the League, whose husband disappeared near Stoneville. Louise stole the Black Stone gauntlet, and her father wants her and the artifact returned.
Your hot air balloon crashes near Stoneville, and you spot Louise, who is being chased by two "strangers" with the ability to turn people into stone, and raise up jagged stones to block your movement. The theme and the graphics and the animation of the stones is very cool. And the gameplay is interesting and just when you think you can save Louise, you are turned into a stone yourself! And the demo ends!
This game is quality throughout. There is a Brightness Option, so you can see all the corners of your large monitor easily. There are 7 game figurines to collect, 20 puzzle pieces, 26 hidden owls, and the achievements are reasonable. You can select from four modes of play, including custom.
The HOS are also interesting. Interactive silhouettes, or find an item to open a cabinet to find items on a list. One of the mini-games tells the story of the mountain stones. The poor villagers - they fish, they turn to stone. They mine coal, they turn to stone. They cut lumber, they turn to stone. You have to solve this mystery, help Louise, and help Stoneville!
The Myths of the World series is one of my favorites. The stories are always interesting, with lots of cool extras. This story seems to be set in Germany. You are the County Bounder sent to solve the mystery of the disappearing villagers into the Kaltdorf Marshes. It seems an old children's tale about a scary Lantern Man is being blamed for the disappearances. So you fix your trusty lantern, add some oil, and set off into the marsh to rescue Hilda's mother Clara and her Professor father Johan.
Your lantern is actually part of a mini-game that prevents you from disappearing - connecting opposing symbols lets you collect the lights into your lantern. Each HOS is different - a list, interactive silhouettes, and finding items to advance the story.
The CE bling includes 42 acorns, some well hidden. There is a Lorebook, a Souvenir Room - my favorite - Mah Jongg to play instead of a HOS, plus 16 morphing items inside the HOS.
Try this and see -- you will not be disappointed!
I recommend this game!

fromSitting here in 90 degrees thinking about visiting Alaska!
Another snow and ice story, but this time the setting is Alaska, and it really feels like you are there! You can even make it snow harder, if you want to! The Alaskan Wild is a big part of the story, almost a character by itself. The voice overs are unique to Alaska - you feel like you are right there, talking to the Eskimo shaman. What a great game!
Your sister Ellie invites you to visit her in Alaska, and meet her fiancé Daniel, and Daniel's mother Abigal. It seems Abigal plays "mommy dearest" with all of Daniel's fiancés, plus she's a witch with power over the ice and other natural resources in Alaska. She's taken Ellie away, froze Daniel up in his house, and removed the bridge over the river so you can't follow!
Aha -- but you are a clever sister and manage to free Daniel, collect an amulet that turns you into various creatures temporarily, and off you go to rescue Ellie. It seems Daniel's previous fiancé Claire is also missing............
As part of the CE Bling, you can take a Personality test #I am Inupik, the shaman#. You can find 11 figurines of people in the story. If you take 11 wildlife photos with your camera, you open up a Bubble mini-game.
The voice overs are excellent, as are the graphics - and the snow! The HOS are interesting - find objects in the snow, or find morphing items then find scarves and hats and snowflakes. All very on point in Alaska. The mini-games are not hard, but fun. To cross the river, you have to find jellyfish, and fish, and a third sea critter, then match the colors on each before your boat can cross.
This game is a lot of fun, with a unique setting that is carried through all facets of the game. Cannot wait to buy!
This is the ninth Mystery Trackers game, and except for the always trusty dog ELF, doesn't quite fit the mode of the previous ones. It is still a pretty good game, however.
You and ELF parachute into cold and snowy Winterpoint, Alaska, after you receive an SOS from one of the scientists there. It seems Professor Lloyd has discovered an ancient species called the "Cold Stalker", who are technologically advanced, can hibernate under the ice, and have an artifact that lets them control the human mind! Oh, and they can take on any human form as well.
Besides ELF, who can of course climb and jump and fit into places you cannot - and you don't even have to feed him or buy him nice outfits - you also receive the handy dandy Mystery Tracker data scanner. The scanner helps you solve major system problems, like turning the power back on, reconnecting the oxygen system, and averting a total system shutdown. The scanner is a a simplified HOS, requiring you to find a few specific characters. It then pinpoints the breakage areas you must solve, mainly via mini-games.
The HOS are simple lists, and the mini-games variations of those we have seen before. There is one multi-stepped mini-game, complete with puzzle hits, so you don't have to skip if you don't know what to tackle next.
There are four modes of play - Elf, scientist, cold stalker, and detective, which is custom. You also can customize screen brightness, which I need because my wide screen is dark around the edges. The special CE bling includes a secret room, collectible statuettes representing a photographer, a boss, and others, plus morphing items in each scene. Plus a new one - starry sky - that has you finding stars to complete constellations like The Hunting Dog. The Great Bear constellation looks an awful lot like The Big Dipper to me! The achievements are all skip/time/hint related, with trophies awarded.
As I write this review, I realize I really like this game more than I thought I did. Try it yourself and see!
