Finally a game with beautiful colorful scenes and a storyline that doesn't involve ghosts, murder or blood.
This game was so much fun to play. The storyline kept me engaged, the HO scenes were not the typical junk piles and they were mixed in with an equal amount of puzzles. There's a helpful jump map too. Difficulty of the puzzles ranged from easy to wanting to scream (very few of those, one was a light up all the boxes puzzle that I just could not get right).
I think I could replay this game and enjoy it just as much as the first time. A good game for adventure players who enjoy puzzles.
I recommend this game!

I bought the game after playing about 15 to 20 minutes of the trial. I liked how the story began and looked forward to meeting new characters and further story development. That never happened. I liked the puzzles and the graphics and colors were beautiful.
There were a handful of portals to pass through to get to different lands and that kept the game interesting, however, the further I got into the game, the more difficult it was to decide what to do or where to go next. There just seemed to be an almost total lack of logical progression. There was alot of back and forth between the portals to find items in one place and use them in another. The jump map was a necessity and even with it I occasionally had to use a hint to figure out what to do next.
Overall I liked the beginning and the end but this will not be a game I ever replay. I finished it only because I paid for it, not because I enjoyed it. It's an okay game if you're just looking for something to keep you busy for a couple hours.
I recommend this game!

The storyline was fun and kept my attention. The game was creepy with a couple jump scares that successfully startled me. The graphics were bloody and dark but expected given the game story and theme. The puzzles were mostly simple and not very challenging. I did have the in-game help phrases turned on because it wasn't always clear what needed to be done with the objects in each scene (need a button for this, need a rope for that, need to break the glass, etc). Overall, the game kept me entertained for a few hours. This is the second Haunted Hotel game I've played and I'm going to try the others to see if they're just as good.
I recommend this game!

I've played, and enjoyed, all the other Final Cut games except for this one. I've tried at least 3 or 4 times to get through the demo. The storyline just doesn't draw me in and hold my attention, and the gameplay is not interesting or challenging enough for me to continue playing.
I especially disliked using the slide viewer to compare and find the differences in two similar scenes. It was just too simplistic and boring.
I did like the interactive map.
Unfortunately, this is one Final Cut game I just can't recommend playing.
I don't recommend this game.

I've played all the Final Cut games with the exception of True Escapade which I just did not care for. To me, this is a much better game than True Escapade. I enjoyed the storyline and felt it flowed very well. The graphics and animation were well done and the colors were vibrant and not dreary like so many other games.
The HO scenes were not junk piles and there's also the option to play Match 3. I really prefer games with many puzzles and a few of the ones in this game were quite challenging.
The map was very helpful for seeing locations with available tasks and quickly transporting between locations.
Overall I think it's a very enjoyable game and kept me entertained for hours.
I recommend this game!

I was hesitant to even play this after Surface: Game of Gods which had a great beginning and then went flat. I'm glad I gave the demo a try. The twists and turns of the storyline kept me interested throughout the game and the map was very helpful. Although the game tends to view mental struggles as simple to diagnose and treat, it is a game designed to entertain and so I don't expect it to be medically accurate and hopefully neither will you. If you're unable to overlook the medical simplicity, then you probably won't enjoy this game.
Overall I really liked the game and think it even has some replay value. It's convinced me to give another Surface game a try.
I recommend this game!

This is the first game I've wanted to review because it was so awful. I bought the game after playing only 15 mins of the demo because there was a sale and I wanted one more punch to earn a free game. The first 15 mins showed promise of a very interesting game but the longer I played the less fun I had. I played through to the end only because it was paid for and I wanted to finish it. The end of the game glitched and the last item I was to receive to end the game was not added to my inventory so I didn't even get to truly finish the game! But I'm not going to replay, I just watched a video of how it ends.
The map was only useful to jump around locations. It did not provide any assistance as to where actions were available. Although I prefer adventure games where you really have to think about what to do next, the storyline of this game did not flow well and numerous times I was left without a clue and only through backtracking was I able to find an HO scene that needed to be replayed to advance the story/game. Very frustrating.
There were many HO scenes and items were not difficult to find. Most were just find the list of items though there were a few silhouette scenes and scenes where you need to find and use an item to be able to find the next item. The variety was welcome.
I prefer a game loaded with puzzles but these were not challenging and a few were just plain tedious and could only be solved by trial and error clicking. I enjoy puzzles that actually need to be solved, not ones that solve themselves if you just click enough times.
Throughout the game you need to collect rune rings to use an amulet to open locked doors. There were about two dozen rings in all and a few of them are difficult to see within the scene where they're located. This part of the game was just not necessary and was just a nuisance after the first few times.
Overall, it was just drudgery to complete and the game glitch at the end just sealed the deal to not recommend this game. It just wasn't fun to play.
I don't recommend this game.

The storyline of the game had a strong, exciting beginning that was also eerie in a fun way. The eerie didn't last very long and although the rest of the game was interesting, it wasn't captivating like the beginning.
I prefer games with many puzzles and few HO scenes. The puzzles weren't very challenging and the number of HO scenes was close to my tolerable limit. I didn't have a problem with objects being too tiny to see or the scene being too dark.
I got stuck briefly a few times because I overlooked some object that I needed to pick up. Overall the game was something to do for a few hours but does not have replay value to me. The ending was very abrupt and I'm guessing the CE bonus chapter better explains the ending.
I recommend this game!

This was a good thinking game that kept me entertained for probably 4 to 5 hours. There was a fair amount of reading and dialogue but it flowed well within the game. I thought the story was interesting and well done but it was predictable.
Plenty of puzzles, a few were even challenging. Many HO scenes (I'm not a fan of them) and I would have preferred less, but the lists were only about a dozen items. Some of the items were difficult to find because they were tiny or blended too well with the background and I needed to use hints.
I got stuck a few times and really had to think about what I still needed to do or go revisit but eventually it occurred to me. Also it was not always apparent where some of the inventory items needed to be used and this occurred mostly when the item was part of a puzzle. The shape of the item helped me figure out where it belonged.
Overall I liked the game enough that I would consider replaying it in the future. I'm looking forward to trying out the demo of its sequel.
I recommend this game!

If you enjoy an adventure game where you actually have to think, this may be the game for you. It's not as good as a Nancy Drew game but I enjoyed it more than many other adventure games I've played. The puzzles are not too difficult and the objects in HO scenes are mostly relevant to the time period, although some objects are small and difficult to see at times.
The hints are not true hints so there's no in-game help other than the book/journal that writes down conversations and game progress. I did need to refer to the BFG walkthrough once to figure out how to move the barrel in the kitchen (click on it a few times and it rolls).
You will have to go back and forth between rooms within the castle, but this mostly flows within the game and I didn't find it irritating. Inventory items are used fairly soon and I never had more than a handful to deal with.
Overall, I enjoyed the story and found the game an enjoyable way to entertain myself for a few hours.
I recommend this game!
