I am a almost daily player of big fish games it has become my hobby for the past 4 or 5 years and this game was a very pleasant surprise. As I'm sure every regular player here knows these games can get a bit cookie cutter although honestly that doesn't bother me because I sometimes find the repetitiveness and vibrant imagery relaxing it was a treat to play a game that required me to do more than go through the motions. The seek and use objects were creative and didn't fit together like the normal status quo and you had to use more of the little grey cells to get objects put together especially skipping back and forth between scenes. The mini games were also a nice change of pace and a bit different. I also thought the storyline was really interesting and definitely kept my attention. Bravo Madhead games they are not usually my go to but after this I will pay more attention to new releases from this developer.
I love this game i think its fun engaging and hearkens back to the HOPS of yore but with much better graphics and mini games. The problem is not everyone wants this format to return and I sympathize with them because this is a fantastic series and I know when I love a series and it is dramatically changed and I am not onboard with those changes it really really sucks. So what I would suggest is to make a different series for the HOP purists and keep the Bonfire series the same so nobody is alienated. But give it a chance the bad reviews are looking like they are about opinions on game format.
As always the Christmas Stories series looks vivid and amazing to the point where you can almost smell the gingerbread and Christmas cookies baking. The story is as wonderful enchanting and heartfelt as it is year after year and the mini games are very fun especially the ones that are set up like the game board clocks like in the Mystery Case Files series. The most important reason I fully endorse this game with 5 stars is the tradition it brings to my daughter and I. We know that we are most certainly in the thick of the holiday season when an addition to this series comes out every year. We sit and play it together get into the story and ooohhhh and ahhh at the festive graphics together. Playing all of the games in this series starting with the Nutcracker and ending with whatever the newest game has turned into a lovely holiday tradition for us and created many wonderful memories. For those reasons I say thank you to Elephant Games and to please keep em comin!
I played this game the whole way through. The story was awesome and the puzzles were fun. Also the HOPS were a little more interactive which I really liked. It looks like this game simply wasnt everyones cup of tea but it certainly was not bad at all. My suggestion is to try the demo to see if its yours before dismissing it because of negative reviews. After that if its not your style its not a loss. I personally thought it was very engaging.
This is by far my favorite of 2019 and bear in mind this is september! The puzzles were truly captured in the Ravenhearst fasion that we all love. The developers were also able to recapture the fun of the previous MCF cases without it being tired and the new story line blended beautifully. Even the HOPs were just the right degree of challenge. After this I have to say once again that I am very much looking foward to the next game.
I played this game completely in one sitting I absolutely could not leave any of it for later! I would say this game was a delightful change. It was so simple no HOPs really but a lot of old school point and click and put things together game play with very fun puzzles thrown in. The story was very touching and the game over all was very bright cheery and feel good.If you enjoyed the Rewind game from the Mystery Case Files series you will enjoy this game. It is very back to basics but not in a lazy boring way just in a very satisfying way. I will go as far to say that this might be my favorite game of 2019 so far it was a bit of a dark horse but this horse certainly won first prize for me.
I have been so impressed with all of this developers games that I made a serious miscalculation of judgement and bought this game without a test drive beforehand. It is important to make clear that this error in judgement was made BECAUSE I have never been let down by a GrandMa game and not just from this particular series but all of them have been fun for me and worth the money so dont let this loser detour you from checking those out. This game was a huge let down and pure tedium! The puzzles, game play, and HOPS were easy to the point where i felt insulted. On top of that the story line was tired and held absolutely no interest for me and this tales twist was a total obvious flop. I really really look forward to new additions to unseen fears so I will most certainly be checking out the next one because everyone is entitled to a flop but because of this flop unseen fears has been removed from my short list of series that i have enough faith in to buy blind.
In my review for the last 5BN Lost Lands game I expressed my keen interest for another installment to New York Mysteries and was certainly not let down. First of all this addition like the rest is excellent! The story line holds your interest the graphics are great the puzzles are wonderful and the HOPs are not tedious. 5BN is a very special developer that creates games that even "serious" gamers find enjoyable and this one was well worth the wait after the long period between this and Lost Souls. Again I wait with bated breath for the next addition to this series but I will wait patiently because the time and care put into this series shows and will pay off. These games are so great I can happily replay the previous ones quite a few times while I wait for the next. If you do not own this entire series I strongly suggest you rectify that sad sad situation.
This game was on point with everything the mini games graphics story line and HOPs were a absolute treat . This addition to whispered secrets also took a break from the surreal scenes from inside the characters minds which though enjoyable in previous installments had kind of gone stale for me by the enfant terrible game. This is a classic who dunnit and I found the classic telling of that story line refreshing. As always the grandma games graphics were beautiful and engaging. I enjoyed this game as much as I enjoyed everburning candle which I thought to be the best in this series.
There is a reason for all these five star reviews. I also think this could be the best game of 2019 and we are only in March! I usually think of HOP scenes as something i have to get through in order to get to the adventure part of the game which is where my true enjoyment comes from but this game made HOP interesting again. The mini games were also just the right amount of challenge not frustrating but also not just something I could run through just entertaining. You put HOPs and puzzles I actually enjoy doing mixed with good story and game play you got a five star game. I always judge how good a game is by how fast i jumped to the bonus chapter after the main game and this time I played it right after because I just didnt want it to end.
