I have to concur with my fellow gamers here. I'm ready to take out the werewolf, the bolos were thrown, and the game locked up. I logged out and came back today to finish. Nothing in my items-to-use list, just plenty of roaming around to places I had already been. I checked the guide in the collector's edition, and I was ready to deliver the final blow to the critter - just couldn't do a blessed thing. When I returned to the game, it let me "continue" the main game, but it wasn't a continuation - it was a futile effort to finish a game I had actually been enjoying (hence all the excellent marks in the categories). This game gets a single star because it is not playable all the way through. Didn't this problem show up in beta testing? If you only beta tested partway, then this problem should have been caught by the development team before release. Clearly, that was not the case considering how many players have not been able to get past this point. Thank goodness I only "spent" a freebie on this.
I don't recommend this game.

I haven't enjoyed a game this much in a long time. This review is based on playing the entire game. It doesn't have five stars because I really wanted a bonus chapter.
It's the storyline for me. It was a lot "fresher" if you will than many of the games lately. At time I wondered if our main character was going to be a Ripley from Alien, especially when Marcy showed up. The Egyptian angle though was very reminiscent of Stargate: SG1. I liked the combo and not knowing if I was going to have to scream at my screen "Get away from her you b****" or not. I also liked how the sequel has been set up. As I said, I would have appreciated a bonus chapter since it is a collector's edition. I also liked that the mini-games were challenging but solvable without having to skip. The other plus for me was that according to the strategy guide I did a lot of things "backwards" and yet still got the job done. That kind of freedom, being able to go back to a place and get something you missed without being penalized was gold to me. I do recommend you play the trial before buying, as with all games it's best to see if this one intrigues you or not. Otherwise I highly recommend this game.
I recommend this game!

Technical issues ruined it off to the tech side of things to see if they can fix it. I really wanted to play this game.

"Share your real opinion" Okay Spanky here we go...
1) The actor voicing Adam Wolfe is fantastic - could listen to him read the grocery list.
2) Just the right mix of humor and a dash of MIke Hammer
3) The story writers deserve an award.
Beyond the actual game play this story drew me in like all the best detective/drama/sci-fi stories do. Honestly, I would watch this show every week and then some. Adam is easy to care about. I found myself thinking of Adam not as a character but as a partner. To draw someone in that much takes true storytelling skill.
On top of the story - there are elements of "first person shooter" games and a chance to be far less static than many other HO or HOP games. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of the "usual" types that I really enjoy. But this one ...has me holding my breath for the next installment. Again, much like I'd be holding my breath after a cliffhanger at the end of a season finale on a TV series. I sincerely hope the developers keep this game series going and that Adam Wolfe doesn't go away any time soon.
I recommend this game!

Most folks have covered what are the true gems in this rather frustrating game. I didn't mind having to think. What I minded was discovering the tech issues (which I, as suggested by BigFish will not go into here) and the completely unhelpful hints. An example is one game where you need to turn torches to particular colors according to their elements. Simple enough - except unless you realize that the action gears go away when you're right (instead of trusting to logic for symbols that really have no clear meaning even WITH the key in your journal) you'll be there a while. I've done a lot of beta testing for BigFish and I have to believe that the beta testers on this one played a much better game than I did. My low rating folks is not because of the weird story line, or even the funky tasks and really hokey voice overs - it's that even as an experienced player there was NO help when I got stuck. Check out other forums on competitor sites - far too many people - good players all - need help that was just not in existence. Tiny items to find and all the rest aren't the problem. The problem lies in the lack of both intuitiveness and logic (for me anyway). Wish it were better. I really do. I think the artwork and the funkiness were awesome. The game just finally made me wave the white flag in surrender. It's one I won't be reloading any time soon if ever, and I'm glad it was a token game rather than one I spent serious money on.
I don't recommend this game.

Got this game as a "freebie" and I absolutely loved it. Whoever is voicing Dahlia is fantastic. I loved the script they wrote for her. As for actual game play - it's challenging but not so bad you always need a hint. The hints actually aren't that useful - there were a couple of times I had to resort to the walk-through because I got stuck. Other than that the feel, the ease of play, the ability to use the compass and jet from place to place - all make this one of my all time favorite games - in fact the only one I've felt compelled to review. More than worth the money if you don't have a free game to claim.
I recommend this game!
