I've been playing this and have no problem with it not working. It's simple and relaxing. It's like Fishdom, getting $ to buy fish and decorations. I've only played it for 33 min (answering the door for trick and treaters) so I don't know if it gets more complicated.
I enjoyed playing the game. I agree with the reviewer who complained about the constant repetition of instructions at each level. I don't listen to the sound, and don't care much about stories - all though this story was interesting. But how can you just stop the game in the middle of the story??? To be continued? That's nuts. This isn't a new game so where the heck is the next one? Run out of ideas? I'll recommend the game, but realize there's no end.
It begins with a story line, but never goes anywhere with it. So don't get it if you want a story. As match 3's go it's pretty good. There are plenty of power-ups to assist you, but I rarely used them, otherwise it'd be way too easy and there's be no point. So I enjoyed making my own matches and working around tight spots with only an occasional assist. The end is abrupt. You complete the last altar and it's done. No "Good job" or "You saved us". I played a bit more to see if there was another level, but no, that was it. Strange.
You have a number of options for backgrounds, tiles, layout, etc. I've played mahjong for a long time but in 40 min. of playing every game I play ended in a stalemate. I used the different tiles (each tile set has a different level of difficulty), but the same result - stalemate. There are no shuffle options. At the end of the game you are sent back to the set up options page. Since I never completed a game I have no idea if they always send you to the beginning, or if you are given a new layout.
I like Mahjong games, but this is not a real Mahjong game. In Mahjong you have a specific number and variety of matching tiles. This game uses the same set of only a few tiles - over and over in every game. 6 pairs of 2 Wind tiles in one game? No way!
