I'll start by saying I'm not a die hard fan of these MCF games and I haven't played the previous games in this series except for the game released about a month ago: Key To Ravenhearst but I have played other MCF games and enjoyed a few of them. I didn't like the first part of this Key To Ravenhearst and this recent release is even more dreadful.
The graphics once again very poor. Way too much purple, pink and blue color.
The characters are boring. I didn't find them interesting at all and the voices just dreadful.
The pace of this game is way too slow, the story line is beyond illogical and way too many interruptions with HOS and especially puzzles/mini games.
Psychological thriller??? I'm sorry but you will have to excuse me while I insert an eye roll here - Give me a break. I found nothing "psychological thriller" about this game. This is a downright boring snooze fest.
So once again I'm going to have a seat on the minority bench. This is yet another overhyped game by an overhyped developer. I can say "overhyped" with confidence because all of these 4 and especially 5 star reviews with exception to one is only based on the demo and not the complete game including the bonus.
I'm sorry but one star is the best I can do for this. There is nothing I liked about this game. Not one thing. As my title says this series needs to be retired. It's long overdue. Enough already! Please try to come up with some new games/story lines instead of rehashing games. Start concentrating more on quality instead of quantity. I can also say with confidence that it's been more about "quantity" instead of "quality" games because these MCF games usually get released once a year. There were two released this year as Key To Ravenhearst was released about a month ago.
This is definitely a no buy for me CE or SE. Truth be told I wouldn't finish this game for free.
As always, give it a whirl and decide for yourself.

VISUAL/SOUND QUALITY: The graphics very poor. Way too much blue, pink and purple for me. The voices a well done however I just didn't find the characters interesting at all. The music annoying. I had to turn that down. It seemed the same throughout the demo.
LEVEL OF CHALLENGE: I played the custom mode as usual and liked it for the most part especially the plus sign for the inventory could be shut off to where it won't show what objects need additional steps to complete them before you can use. Having said this... Here we go again though: There needs an option in the custom mode to shut off the "helpful" comments stating what needs to be done in the game.
STORY LINE: This story could of been creepy/eerie however the constant "shadows" all the time just looked so fake/silly to me and not very well done at all along with having to constantly "untangle the ropes" and use the lantern to get rid of the shadows. The story also didn't make any sense to me and had absolutely no flow to it. I did notice at end of the demo tried to leave a "cliff hanger" to see about the rest of the story and how it plays out however I have no interest in finding out.
While nothing new for the HOS I did enjoy the variety here. The puzzles while not my favorite in any game most of these I found easy. A couple just took a little time to complete them. I didn't like the "untangle the ropes." I found this downright annoying and thank goodness I could skip it very quick every time it came up which was way too often. I didn't like using the lantern at all.
FUN FACTOR: Overall I didn't find this game "fun" at all. I found it quite boring. This game just had way too many annoyances for me. I'm sorry Daily Magic but I haven't liked any of your games since Sable Maze Sullivan River and Norwich Caves. These two games are 5 star winners for me. Every game after these two have been just dreadful and this one is no exception. The best I can do for this is one star.

Well I must say I got my review title from a post I read outside of Big Fish forum. I agree with it 100%. I'm going to have a seat on the minority bench.
The graphics very poor for me. There is way too much pink and purple color.
The characters just dreadful/boring. What happened to the live actors like in the 13th Skull game? I loved those characters.
I played the custom mode and must say that this developer is usually great at shutting off the black bar helpful tip comments but there were some in this game. It also states the ability to shut off the objects that need additional steps in the inventory however that is not so as they are highlighted a "green" color.
This game was also overloaded with way too many puzzles/mini games for me. I usually enjoy the HOS but as I said way too much of this for me. I prefer more challenge the "adventure" side (back/forth) in the game figuring out where to use the inventory which the challenge here was a big zero for me.
The story couldn't get into this at all. This got ran over by the puzzles/mini games. As mentioned by a few others I also missed not having the journal/diary to read.
As for the ravens and finding the morphing objects I wasn't even really looking for those and found them all quite easy to locate.
The constant pop up of objectives, achievements and finding the ravens was a huge annoying distraction for me.
I'm sorry but I just didn't find this game "fun" at all. Actually a downright boring snooze fest. This is just another "cookie cutter" game in my opinion. If I've played one game from this developer I've played them all. The same ole "cookie cutter" format. I hate to be the one to break the news to the Eipix here but not everyone enjoys games overloaded with puzzles. Yes I understand there have to be some to try and cater to as many game players as possible but must every game you release be "puzzle/mini game" overload?? Oh and not because they are too hard. Most I found easy. A couple required some thought and time to complete them.
The best I can do for this is one star. There is nothing I liked about this game. It far from "wowed" me. This is definitely a "no buy" CE or SE.
As always give it a whirl and decide for yourself.

This will be short and right to the point. I have enjoyed a few of this developer's games and even from this "Fear Of Sale" series however this definitely isn't one of them.
VISUAL/SOUND QUALITY: The graphics very poor. Way too much blue, pink and purple for me. The voice overs nothing special. I didn't find these characters convincing. Actually I found them quite boring.
LEVEL OF CHALLENGE: What challenge? Just like the majority of the other developers I don't understand why the offer of more than one play mode especially a custom mode if there are going to be black bar tip comments stating what needs to be done. Also no way to shut off the plus sign indicating which inventory objects need additional steps before using. Um, if I wanted my hand held telling me what to do just about every step of the way I would of played casual/easy mode.
STORY LINE: Statues coming to life and attacking. I'm sorry but you will have to excuse me while I do a huge "eye roll" here. Just too silly for me. I couldn't get into this story at all.
FUN FACTOR: Once again I'm sorry but I just found this game downright boring. While I no longer purchase the CE for achievements/collectibles I usually do enjoy finding them in this developer's game however I need more than that to purchase a game. Oh and I also usually enjoy the HOS as well but way too much "hand holding" for me.
The best I can do for this is 1 star. It's a no buy for me CE or SE.

Well this will be a very short right to the point. I will also say that I usually don't do this and that is play very little of the demo time however I knew once I saw the developer's name come up and got into the game I knew it was a no go for me and unfortunately my review will be harsh because this developer has been around for a long time and should know better.
As my review title says: Sigh! Here we go again. What could of been a great game is absolutely ruined by:
No game options: Sound/music is either on/off. No choice of play modes: Way too much hand holding with the icons appearing on the screen showing where to go, black bar tip overload, and sparkles showing active areas. No voice overs: Yes I can read just fine but some really well done voice overs would of added so much to this game. No way to lock the inventory. It stays down until you click on it. I'm one who likes to see what's in the inventory at all times. Also have to click and drag it.
The only two good things I have to say about this game is the graphics and music.
Sorry but this is definitely a no buy for me. Truth be told I wouldn't finish this for free.
As always give it a whirl and decide for yourself.
I don't recommend this game.

Sorry But This Should Of Stayed "Off The Record" - Based On Demo
VISUAL/SOUND QUALITY: The graphics OK for the most part except for the flashback memory mode scenes. They are very blurry with wiggly lines and bright flashing lights. Oh my eyes. Gave me a migraine. The character's voices just dreadful especially the daughter.
LEVEL OF CHALLENGE: The only reason I rated this OK (otherwise I would of rated this poor) is because it was a breath of fresh air not seeing any black bar tip comments stating what needed to be done however I still found the game to be way too easy. As mentioned by some others "take this here and put that there." There's not much thought that needs to be put into it as most things are used right away or don't have to travel too far to use them. While nothing new for the HOS that I haven't seen before I did enjoy the variety in the ways of finding them: list, fragmented pieces and riddles with morphing objects. The puzzles my least favorite part of any game however I found all these to be easy. A couple just took a little time to complete them. I did skip the "dodging rocks" one since I have arthritis. Too much taking the mouse moving back/forth for me.
STORY LINE: As mentioned by a few others and I agree. This story makes absolutely no sense. I know this is just a game but I play the role of Ms. Dunn and I'm the prime suspect in a murder but yet I'm left alone in the detective's office to snoop/poke around and mess with things on the desk such as the tape recorder.
FUN FACTOR: Overall just not a very fun game. Actually I found it quite boring. The characters not interesting at all and as I said the story makes no sense. I was ready for a nap 15 minutes into the game but I did play to the end of the demo thinking it just might get better but it didn't.
Sorry but the best I can do for this is one star. This is a no buy for me CE or SE.

GAME FEATURES: Very shortly into the game you get a "Communicator" which looks like a beeper/pager to me. There are a few areas in the game where you can't move forward until you've completed everything. Once you've completed what needs to be done your "Communicator" here goes off and you are instructed to meet elsewhere in the game such as the Town Square for example. From there you get in the car and off to the next area. Other than the few areas there is quite a bit of back/forth (back tracking). I didn't mind. I love wandering around in the game.
4 play modes: Casual/Advanced/Hardcore/Custom. In the custom mode you can choose (or not) the tutorial, sparkles for HOS and/or active scenes, hint/skip charge up anywhere between 15 and 100 seconds. The hint is directional outside of HOPS. There is no way to shut off the black bar tip comments stating what needs to be done in the game.
Journal: This holds some story, clues for the mini games/puzzles, and a transporter map. The locations are named however have to hover your mouse to see them. I no longer use maps. I check it out for my review writing during the demo.
HOPS: These are all found by standard word list with some interaction. A bit on the Sanford & Son junkyard pile side. Some are very small. If you don't feel like doing the HOPS you can play Mahjong.
MINI GAMES/PUZZLES: With exception to a couple these are just run of the mill in my opinion as I've seen them in other games on the Big Fish site however some have a bit of a different twist/take on them.
CE EXTRAS: Bonus Chapter Strategy Guide 9 movies (replay of cut scenes) Wallpapers, custom art, music Achievements: NO Collectibles: NO Morphing Objects: NO
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
VISUAL/SOUND QUALITY: I thought the graphics just great. I really welcomed this compared to most of the games that have been released and that is way too much blue, pink and purple color. They displayed just fine on my computer screen. I really liked cut scenes. I also had no problem with the character animation and thought the voice overs a well done however sometimes the characters had lip sync, sometimes not. The only time the lip sync bothers me is if the characters mouths are moving but no voice. That wasn't the case for me. My characters had a voice to them. The music was just fine. I have nothing bad to say about that.
LEVEL OF CHALLENGE: Overall I found this game to be pretty easy and that is fine as every game doesn't have to be hard. With this said, while I don't mind an easy game but I still don't like the black bar comments stating what needs to be done in the game. I find this so annoying. If I need help I will use the hint. To the developer here: Please work on to have an option in the custom mode in your future game releases to shut this off.
STORY LINE: While the story line is definitely nothing new having to find/save the lost treasure however the opening cut scene had my attention and held my interest to the very end. This also had a couple twist/turns to it especially in the bonus chapter. I thought it was well told. The main game came to a conclusion for me however the way it ended also had me wanting a bit more. Sorry I can't go into any more detail. I would definitely spoil it. The bonus chapter definitely continues the story. It takes place 3 months later. All new locations. There are none from the main game.
GAME LENGTH: This is 5 chapters plus the bonus chapter. Main game for me was 3 1/2 hrs. and bonus chapter was another 1 hr. however I skipped most of the mini games/puzzles and not because they were too hard, I just found most of them boring/tedious/repeated a bit too much. I prefer HOPS over mini games/puzzles. I'm not a fan of these though. If you like/love enjoy mini games/puzzles then you may like them.
FUN FACTOR: Overall I give this 4 stars. The story and using the communicator I really enjoyed that and made me rate this game higher More important than that I rated this game higher because while this (Indie) developer was founded back in 2007 I've only seen 5 games from them released to the Big Fish site and I really want to encourage this developer to keep making games. What kept this from being a 5 star winner for me was a bit too many mini games/puzzles and the black bar tip overload comments stating what needed to be done in the game. As for achievements, collectibles, morphs these things are no longer a part of my buying decision. Having said this: I still see and understand why they are expected from some game players as they've become an extra in most of the games especially since the CE cost twice as much as the SE unless of course you can get it on sale which I did. It was worth the $7.99 I paid.
As always give it a whirl and decide for yourself.
GAME OPTIONS: I didn't need to mess with any of this. The game filled my screen and didn't appear stretched. I also didn't need to adjust the volume on the sound/music. Music Sound Effects Full Screen Wide Screen System Cursor
GAME FEATURES: No choice of play modes. There is black bar tip overload stating what needs to be done in the game. There is a constant flickering of arrow(s) showing which direction(s) you can go. Sparkles for the HOS. Hint is directional outside of HOS. Hint and Skip - A snail or turtle moves much faster. Choose your dialog Voice overs Diary: This has your goal(s) and crosses them off as you complete them. The goals also pop up on the screen. This also holds notes. I no longer use maps but know some people are interested in this info so I try to remember to check this out during the demo: There is also a transporter map. The locations are not named. Shows where you are, areas where there is something to do, completed areas, and locked areas. Inventory locks Achievements: NO Collectibles: NO Morphing Objects: NO
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
I'll start by saying I usually enjoy this developer's work as they usually make very good Standard Edition stand alone games that aren't a Standard Edition of a Collector's Edition. I'm one who doesn't need the "bells and whistles" such as achievements, collectibles, morphing objects. Actually I now find them quite distracting.
I had no problem with the graphics. I thought they were fitting to the creepy story line. The voice overs a well done.
Where this game went way done the hill for me and yes my rating will be harsh because I know this developer has been around for a long time and very capable of doing a much better job than this since I've purchased quite a few of their games:
The no choice of play modes. Yes this has been the case in their previous games which I've mentioned this but I will again. The year 2015 here is coming to a close. Not much left of it. 2016 is just around the corner. Please step this up and offer game player more than one play mode and have it actually apply to the game. I like to play my games without sparkles and an overload of black bar tips either giving me hints or in the case of this game coming right out and stating what needs to be done.
The constant flickering of the arrow(s) and the pop up of goals on the screen. This was way too much of a distraction for me.
I also didn't like the "choose your dialog." Actually I don't like this in any game. Sorry but this was very poorly executed in this game. It seems as if you have to play this game in a certain order for it to make sense. I like my freedom of "wandering around" in the game. What I mean here is: You are given two responses, but you can only choose one. Also, depending on the order in which you play, once again seems you have to play the game in a certain order; you may get a response that makes no sense until you've done something else. I came across this several times during the demo and it really took away for me what could of been a great eerie/creepy story. So the story line itself I found to be "very good" however story not executed well at all.
I usually enjoy the HOS but these I found to be too much Sanford & Son junkyard pile. The puzzles while there was something a bit different than the usual games but a couple needed a bit more instruction and the rest I just found boring/tedious. I'm not a fan of the puzzles anyway. If you are you may enjoy these.
So sorry to the developer here but one star is the best I can do for this. This game, the game play and story didn't flow well at all for me.
As always though definitely give it a whirl and decide for yourself. A definite no go for me.
GAME PLAY: Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure: VERY heavy on HOS. This will definitely be "too many HOS" for some people. Some puzzles of course. Adventure-lite - There is back and forth to this game and lots of it and going back as far as the beginning of the game once you are more into the game. As my title says: Get Out Your Best Pair of Sneakers - LOL. There are "arrows" on the screen showing you which direction(s) you can go. There are a couple of scenes where you have to manually "scroll" it to see it by doing a click and hold on the screen moving left/right vise versa.
PLAY MODES: No choice here. There are some glints. Some "helpful" tips in the dialogue to give you a nudge in the right direction. . Hint/Skip didn't seem to take too long to charge back up. The hint is not directional outside of HOS. If you click on it, it will just tell you what you need to do. It won't point you in the direction you need to go.
MAP: No
Diary: This holds tasks and notes. When it glows green it is adding a new task. When it glows red it's adding a new note.
Gold Coins: You get these by completing some of the HOS. The coins are used for 3 things: 1. If you used your one hint and need a hint. 2. To skip a puzzle if you don't want to wait for it to charge up. The cost is 10 coins. and 3. You use the coins to buy some of the objects from the merchant at the store to use in some scenes of the game. The cost varies here. I thought the game was very generous with the coins. I had over 400 end of the game.
HOS: These are all found by standard word list. You will visit the same scenes many times and even finding the same objects and in the same place. As you move along in the game it will open up more/different HOS but like I said you will visit them many times. The scenes with sparkles which can't be turned off by the way but these scenes after completing them will give you an inventory item. The scenes with "gold coins" will give you coins and I've already explained the use of the coins. See above.
PUZZLES: The usual run of the mill found in many games. Some had a different twist/take on them.
VISUAL/SOUND QUALITY: I had no problem with the graphics. I quite liked them. Very fitting to the game especially due to subject matter. Not for the faint at heart. I really can't say too much about sound cause I didn't notice/pay attention to music and there are no voice overs to the game.
LEVEL OF CHALLENGE: Though there were the arrows, sparkles, glints and some "helpful" comments in the dialogue which I wish wouldn't of been there but at times I didn't find this game to be so easy. I had to put on my thinking cap where to go and what to do next so "level of challenge" pretty good.
STORY LINE: Well the story line itself I found intriguing however I thought there could of been a bit more story telling and I would of liked to have seen more character interaction. I also think some well done voices would of added so much more to this. This does have a conclusion and looks like there may be a sequel.
FUN FACTOR: I've definitely played better games but I didn't think this game was all THAT bad. I thought it was OK for the most part but even I would have to say "too many HOS" though I like and don't mind doing HOS. If the developer does decide to do a sequel to this I hope they do cut back on the HOS especially visiting the same scenes and finding the same items over and over again. Also have a couple of play modes to chose from. One play mode without sparkles, glints, helpful messages. Oh but I do hope they keep the coin feature and going to the merchant to buy objects. I thought that was a great idea for the game. I think this feature can still be kept without having to visit the same HOS over and over again and many times and finding the same objects. I give this 3 stars. An OK time passer game.
As always give it a whirl and decide for yourself.
I recommend this game!

What A Breath Of Fresh Air - FINALLY - A Game - Completed Game
GAME PLAY: Point/Click Adventure. Pure adventure. NO 360 MOVEMENT. There is no tutorial/instructions, hint/skip button, puzzles/mini games. HOS (hidden object scenes), map or journal. You find objectives (inventory) in the scenes and have to figure out how to use them to move forward in game. LOTS of back/forth (time travel) to this game.
VISUAL/SOUND QUALITY: The reason some disliked this game is exactly why I liked it: This game isn't like the current releases at Big Fish. This is old school, cartoon like characters. The voices excellent. Some parts are just text reading with no voices. Can be clicked (speed up) to get through quicker. I didn't click to speed up. I read everything. I didn't want to miss anything.
LEVEL OF CHALLENGE: There is no hint button as I mentioned but there are some helpful comments in the dialogue to give a nudge in the right direction. I thought the level of challenge was quite good. If you do get stuck you can do a search online the game title (The Silent Age) for a walk through. While I didn't use it but looked at it since this game is listed as a "puzzle" game which it's not. It's very well put together. Step by step instruction for each chapter.
STORY LINE: While the time travel is definitely nothing new I still found this to be a breath of fresh air. This has both humor and a suspenseful plot twist to it. I really liked the charters and story. This story really had my attention.
GAME LENGTH: 10 chapters. This was about 9 hours for me. Definitely long enough. May be more/less for you.
FUN FACTOR: It's been almost a year since I've reviewed/purchased games. I got tired of the same old games the current offerings. I must also say I almost passed this game up since it was listed under "puzzle" genre. Something kept bringing me back to this game. I'm so glad/happy I decided to try and then purchase this gem of a game. This is my current favorite game. I would love to see more point/click pure adventure games like this one. I was hooked to this game right from the get go and played it straight through.
RECOMMEND: I recommend this to those who like these old school point/click pure adventure games. If you are one looking for a game like the current offerings at Big Fish with HOS, puzzles/mini games, etc., this won't be your game.
As always give it a whirl and decide for yourself.
