Love Tower Defense games? Love TM/Strategy games too? Then get ready to call in sick to work, and forget about sleep, cleaning, cooking etc LOL! Because you are going to be in sheer heaven! If you love them, this is the game you have always dreamed of.
For starters, I'm new to Tower Defense games. I have a bit of an edge, from playing RPG/Action and Strategy games for many years. But I just don't do well on them, timers or the like have me feeling stressful. It's an easy concept, plan your stratagy, beat a wave, add an upgrade, build your army, play again... For me add lose, replay.. over and over LOL! But this is a game I can play, and made it through the demo! They really did a great job making this game. Bravo!
There is so much to do, I got lost in it and was surprised when the Demo hour was up! I made it through the first battle,(I knew I loved it right then and there!!) which is after the great Tutorial. It felt like a practice run when I was playing on the 1st level, so you learn more AND earn some better guys and gear!. There is NO timer, BUT, your wall can die, and you replay. BUT you still keep what your TM side did, so you can upgrade and pass easier, if you need to. Thanks to 7 levels of difficulty, I think anyone will be able to play this game. They go from "Classic (feels untimed and relaxing) To a "Non Stop Wave" which was pretty intense and a huge challenge, offering a replayability factor too!
Since I'm a big fan of TM/Builders, this game "got me excited and having FUN!" The TM game is integrated it into it. So, Kudos for not just making a hybrid game, but making a TM and TD game, with a smooth interface! It made it interesting, exciting, AND easy to learn/play.
I usualy don't trial TD games, just not my fav genre. This one I just couldn't resist giving it a go, and happy I did. I've never played a game quite like it! I can see TM/Builder or Strategy Players, really falling in love with this game. And if they have never tried a TD game, learning to love a new Genre too.
Moving onto the game play.. You are living and defending on the world of "The Wall", sworn to protect it, with a light storyline, not too diaglog heavy. BTW your wall has life (AKA HP in RPG) points, IT takes the damage and yes, it can die. It's also got game, and a few tricks of its own. ;)
Instead of just planning wave after wave; you also have to improve your resources too. This is done in a split screen. Mad Genius! You can go back and forth from TM to TD at will! Need some more gold/food to buy a Soldier? Just slide back over to the TM side, glide your cursor over the ones your workers got piled up, and your back in the mix to buy any fighter, and they are still going too on the battle side! So, Battle field on one side. + TM Workers doing their jobs on the other= LOVE IT! Amazing job to the Developers, truly a great concept!
You begin on the TM/Builder side. This is pretty easy and way fun! There you need to improving your castle to hold more workers. Then use them to mine gold, improve your food supply, train and improve your "army" etc. Anyone that has played or loves TM Builders will be drawn in, and feel right at home, as it's all done with the best of TM options too! Just set your workers ahead, with check marks and they continue there jobs until done; IE all gold out of a mine, which takes awhile BTW. Use your food and gold to buy different fighters for your army.
While there is no real timer, you do have a "call to action" when the troops approach the battle field...That takes us to the other side. If your ready to go fight before the attack alert is signaled, you can click it for more gold, or wait for it to sound while stock piling more food and gold on the TM side!
On the TD side, you can build and move your foot soldiers, Calvary at the gate, Archer towers (Just the 1st 3 fighters you have to start with.) You'll earn more as you go and learn new enemies too, with "?" to see what beats them! You can always add more during the battle!!
You move your ground troops by 2 banners anywhere on the field during battle. Need to knock out that Catapult? NO problem, move them while your archers hit it too, they won't launch a single stone! There are different banners that give your foot soldiers things like healing or reviving, harder hits, etc. There are also bonus items ON "The Wall", like setting boiling oil above the gate and placing Archers on it, as well as the towers you build for them. Picking up plundered items; food, gold, and gems (used in the main menu to buy lots of upgrades), is easy. Just like TM food/gold wave your curser over them, no clicking needed. That's another plus, its not overly "clicky" so after an hour my hands were not in pain from my carpel tunnel and arthritus. Unlike most TDs, you have full control, see what type of enemy is coming and can react in live action. In other words, you're not limited by setting up TD area and stuck with it. Battle is explained like "rock paper scissors" each type of soldier can attack and beat only 1 or 2 types of enemies.
There is also a menu screen to select read about or recruit/buy troops, banners, enemies for that level and bonus items at the start. I noticed areas in the map have stars, but it cut off them demo before I was able to see how many I got. So I don't know how it ranks you yet.
All and all, I will use a PCC on it, again for me that's HUGE. If you like TD games.. buy it! If your a TM fanatic, your going to love the twist. If your like me, give it a try and see if you can handle the challenge lol. I hope to see more TD games like it.. Well worth the money or a PCC. I don't always recommend (straight) Tower Defense games,(unless they really wow me, which this one does!) But when I do (find one with a twist like this) Yup. I do recommend, The Wall: Medieval Heroes. Stay Gaming my Fellow Fishies!
I recommend this game!

This game reminded me of the Trial of The God's series, and I loved the storyline. I was ready to buy, then gameplay started, I'm glad I finished the demo before I did. Even if my body isn't lol. My eyes hurt, and were watering. My Carpal Tunnel and Arthritis hurt too by the end of the Demo.
1. The graphic are horrible and as I mentioned, it was what had my eyes watering, after just the 1st M3 board. It strained my eyes, and while I do wear glasses, no game has ever been a problem that it bothered them so severely. The tiles are too tiny, the colors are all too vivid and bold, they clash and the objects on them blend together in a sea of more red, gold and Blue so bad, it's hard to see the matches.
There is a star button to turn of some off the most intrusive sparkles I've ever seen all over the M3 board (and I LOVE my HOG sparkles!) and while it does get rid of the "bling" (The character's word, not mine.. "I just love all this Bling!" Umm.. that doesn't exactly fit the vocabulary of the time period. lol) it does not get rid of the green sparkles that show you where your next match is unfortunately. That pops up too quickly for me as well, totally unfocused my eyes every 2 seconds. I can (usually) find my own matches just fine by myself, thank you. Although, in this game I needed help, just not in this form, UGH!
2. The game mechanics aren't much better. I had to click multiple times for anything to register. I had this problem in all aspects of the game, except the comic like story scenes.
The mini-games in the first level had you clean a vase, and the worst STD (spot the difference) I've ever played! Both ended up with me finishing fast.. yet, they still would not end! I love STDs, but they were microscopic and the instructions did not tell you that you can only click on the photo on the right. The vase cleaning looked easy.. but somewhere a tiny spot was stuck, after the whole thing was clean in a second. Both ended up going over the timer. Hovering over the buy button for the buildings, had the requirements screen pop-up right away, but I had to click on buy too several times as well.
The cursor also had moments of floating and being slow. I've never had this problem before, and own over 1700 games from BFG.
3. As said the Mini Games are (besides the response issues) too easy! The first is a jigsaw, I love to see them in game too, but that one I finished in 4 seconds.
4. There are bugs in the game, this IS after checking for an update.. there wasn't one. The first building I bought, the pop-up for it was stuck in the middle of the screen, going to the next M3 level. The Roman God explaining to me what the backgrounds meant was lost, as I couldn't see the M3 board as the pop-up screen covered it. Had to Ctrl-Alt-Delete to get out and reopen it. The other 3 buildings did not get "stuck".
5. Is there a un-timed option or not?! You are given the choice of timed or untimed in the options, but checking the untimed box didn't work. It still was timed, and not counting up. I felt rushed and stressed out from it and everything else on top of it!
This game needs to be taken down and redone, with major fixes. Because it could be a great game... but it's the first to be so bad it literally made me cry and left my hand and arm sore from frustratingly clicking for the reasons listed.
I cannot recommend this game. Besides timed only ones, I have rarely felt this negative about games in Genres I like. I buy a lot of games on BFG. This however, will not be one of them. It's (literally) painfully bad.
Try if you must, but only if you have perfect vision, a giant screen, plus a bottle of eye drops and pain reliever on hand!
I don't recommend this game.

What's not to love?!! LOL I LOVE them! More More More.. Pretty pleaaaaaasssseeeeee??!!! :P
This is a M3/HOG, Very few HOG scenes, one per Chapter, with 10 or so items. If you like both M3 and HOGs it's a nice add on, (HOGs+RPGs are my 1st loves, then I tried M3s like this and Builder's, so I love Combo games!# if you don't like HOGs, the good news is; They are only a tiny part of the game and pretty easy! It's the kind that seems like new after awhile and you'll go back to play over and over with 2 play modes! I keep it on my portable at all times, when I'm bored in Dr's or long trip/bus ride. The length is as far as I got #forgot to finish it until now, after a OS reinstall# is good, a few days if your not a speed demon like me. There is about 60 Chapter's on the Map, but if I recall correctly, there was other Maps beyond the main one, in the 1st game..so there may be more Chapters/Maps in this one too. Sure you could try to zoom through, play timed... but it feels more like a game you slowly enjoy the ride and never want it to end!
The options alone in this game make it amazing! The highlights:
1. Most important.. YES this has TIMED AND UNTIMED OPTIONS!! TY Developers!!
2. It fit's both my older and new laptop screen. On my new one, I just had to adjust the settings.. #I know.. BUT it IS possible!!) and only took me a few seconds to change back/forth. For some games it's worth it, this one is!
3.Both Music and Sound can be adjusted, I kept the sound on medium and like the satisfying sounds of matches/game actions.
4.YES, there is a story! It's played out in several beautiful hand drawn scenes at the end of every chapter, and messages in levels from those Adriane meets along her Journey; including the Gods/Goddesses whose Temples you must rebuild along the way
5. 2 Different Modes: Adventure, which is the story Mode, and must play to unlock Wallpapers. Ariadne’s Loom, where you play 10 levels to "weave" each Tapestry. The latter being one of the things I loved, the timer in it goes up and offers a HUGE replayability Factor..this is a M3, you'll want to play more and can't get enough of!! You unlock more as you finish them.
6 Wallpapers. You must finish the Adventure to unlock them.
7 There are also "achievements" to earn for Trophy's. Adding more to Replayability, if you don't earn them the 1st time
8 As was in the 1st you are (Along with saving your man, LOL) "rebuilding" each Goddess's Temple. Wish it was my choice, as it is, you earn a peice of each per level. At the end of the Chapter (or in between levels.. you can chose that) you take the pieces you've earned on each level and place them where they go..there is a shadow area indicating this too, again very liner, but a few times I had to really look for where to put some of the patterned or smaller Temple pieces.
Game Play and comments/thoughts:
Standard "swap" M3, but with ability to make combos as big as you can imagine. Each level has different goals, Adventure ( Classic story mode) has pearls on certian tiles you must match to collect. Do not let the begining fool you, the levels do get harder, and you will run into things like items to get to the bottem areas, where you must get them to a space or more over to the right or left, clear the board. Typical locked tiles, the power ups differ and are added as you go alone the way (don't want to spoil too much! :) Tiles are clear, and easy on the eyes, as is the background for clearing the board when needed (you always can, some goals just don't require it) with some very light HOG scenes here and there. The HOGSs are well drawn, clear, some items cleaverly hidden, and all in the period of time... no cell phones or "Modern" Items give it a real feel, and each HOG scene, ties into the story. Love that, wish more Devs would've done/do so too! Cursor works fine, doesn't feel clunky or slow.
The extra "Tapestry" levels, I just adore! More next time please!! In them, a cloth is woven into an animated picture over 10 levels or so each. Playing it tonight, I challanged myself to clear a whole board in one click, and did so stratagizing for 2 hours! The timer on it goes up. AND.. this is the only M3 I've played, that the longer you play and earn more "jewels" the more your points go up, instead of the other way around, where you have to rush to get a high score. GREAT IDEA LOVE THAT. The Jewels BTW are the power ups in it too. They are different for bigger/types/faster matches and thay can make awesome chains!! You can move them, or double click to set one off where it is (they are on the space where you moved the tile to). You can rush is you like, challage yourself many ways, or compete with a friend/spouse etc (time finished, points, see who can earn a Tapesry 1st etc.. in that mode, the only limitation is your imagination. Each Tapestry is a beautiful wallpaper. Normally I don't get excited, but I did. Part because I earned it, part because they are so well done.
Summery:
I LOVED the 1st. just finished when the 2nd was released (HELLO Orneon, we need more of this Series!!) I'd almost finished this one, when I had some tech troubles (my laptop not the game, it runs smoooth as silk on all my PCs!) Forgot to reinstall this game to continue the story, (the 2nd in the series) when I saw it on sale, I was happy for the reminder and got lost in it for 4 hours! Since it's and on the Dev's sale today it's a steal!! Try if you must, but I found it to be a very fun, relaxing M3, that is as challaging as you wish to make it. I wish we had more like it that have an Untimed option!! So I highly reccommend it! Buy it on todays Dev Sale, as a DD, use a credit or PCC.. just get it!! You won't regret it if your a M3/HOG/Adventure fan. and if you like greek/Roman themed games!
Happy Gaming!!
I recommend this game!

After reading many bad reviews, and calling this HOPA old school, I was scratching my head looking at the screenshots and watching the video! Since when is "Old School" a year or 2 ago?! I had to try for myself, and as I knew I would, I loved it! The graphics and storyline, are great! A teeny but pixelated, but much better as you go further into the game. (As I played I thought to myself..Am I playing the same game here?!) The opening scenes and voice overs are top notch. Nothing at all like most "Old school games." You play a friend of a perscuted "Witch" who must save her Daughter Lily (My DDs name, how endearing for me!) There is a diary and a Map. You have an inventory and it plays much more like a Adventure that a plain ol HOG! You can talk to people you meet along the way, so the voice overs continue in gameplay not just the opening scene. Some of the Mini-Games quite unique and I liked them, even though they're not my favorite part of a HOG. So that says a lot! I had no problems clicking or placing anything and bought this up in a snap! At 3/4 of 1gig again, this is no way like the old games that were 100-200MBs or even less!
I'm thrilled to see a well done SE that is NOT one of a CE! My PCCs can be used, hooray! We've seen quite a few SE HOGs like this lately, so Mine are not expiring or gathering dust anymore. Even if I did not have one, I'd still buy this game, or spend a game credit on it.
The only conclusion that I can come to, as to why some high quality SE games (esp HOGs/IHOGs/HOPAs) are being given bad reviews; is that they are being compared to CE games. No there is no Bonus Play, Screen Savers and all that. But that's not what is in a TRUE SE game! I own almost every single HOG on this site, including CEs. To me comparing a CE to a TRUE SE is Apples and Oranges! Also, in my opinion, "Old School HOG/HOPA" means, it is a straight one; no story, or a small one, no voice overs, story animated scenes and is 5-6 years back. Even those I still enjoy every now and then, when I want to just relax, not look in a SG or need a walk through. But, this is NOT one of them in any way at all!!
Speaking of, I found the game to be of a fair challange (and I consider myself an Expert level player), without too much hand holding. You can choose a from a casual (hints refill faster, skips and sparkles) or Advanced (No skips, slow hints and a random click penalty), so you can play the game as you like. It filled my laptop screen just fine.
Oh, and NO, my screenname has nothing to do with my rating of the game. Although, just as some really like Farming, Romance or Dash etc etc game Genres.. I do love a good "dark tale" and themes of Magic and Withcraft, esp based on the History of the "Witch Hunts", also Murder, Detective Mystery, Fantasy, Asylum or "Occult" (I deeply dislike that word and think some great games, have gotten a bad rap, or just outright slammed due to it's use.) Yes the game/plot contains some Magic/Spell/Witchcraft/Dark themes. Sort of reminds me of several "Salem" story SE HOGs I played, and it's graphics are just as good if not better then they were! Some of thhose didn't even have the well done voice over's this game has. Again, Old School it is not! In fact, this game could have been a CE with a little more work. If a must compare, from "back in the day".. lol that being the first CEs, or a few great SEs of several HOG "Must Haves" we all loved before CEs were offered twice a week. Some of which, became and lead to great CE series games. This could be one of them. I can't wait to see if the ending leaves room for a sequel! My hats off to the Developers, that I've not seen before. I hope to see more games from them!!
But. Don't let me be your guide. If you enjoy a good HOPA, with good graphics, voice overs, great charectors, a well done story (I thought the storyline scenes were very high quality for a SE) and have PCCS to use.. You'll def want to give this one a try and decide for yourself! Unless the theme bothers you, I'm betting many find this a great SE game and use up a PCC that so many of us have to use! Though I am in sheer heaven and hope to see more SE HOGs like it, my PCCs are always waiting for one and I'm giddy with delight to see one as a TGT!
If you can't tell already by my review (LOL).. I highly recommend this game!! I'm leaping with joy to have a SE HOG/HOPA come out on a Bonus Punch Monday that I can use a PCC on! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU again to the Developers!! Great Job on a HOPA! Please keep more of these HOPA SEs coming, esp in this Genre! There are a lot of fish that enjoy them and are hungry for more!!
Happy Gaming Fishes! ;)
I recommend this game!

I am surprised at the lack of any reviews, both on the Game's webpage. and in the forum! Guess it's up to me to get the ball rolling!
This review is of the TRIAL. I played 35mins of it so far, and knew it was a buy. There is literally NO other game, on BFG, like this one! Seems to be an old release, but plays and looks like a modern new game. Developer's, were way ahead of thier time when they made this!
First, most important in a game for me... YES, there is a timer. WAIT! Don't run away yet!! (later there is an untimed play mode# I HATE timers, having severe painful hand and eye problems.. they kill a game for me, cause me pain, and stress me out. However, there is always the VERY rare exception. This game is one of them. It didn't bother me, plus, there are plenty of time increases and other power-ups. After a few levels, I didn't even know it was there and relaxed. You can also turn off time sounds!! YAY! So this wasn't a game killing one. I'd love a re-release without, but I can play it with! Very few timed games can I say that about!
Though the game play looks odd, it's not as hard as you think. It's also not too easy or boring. You'll need your little gray cells for this one. Thank goodness they gave us a very funny, friendly, hungry and smart beaked side kick, to guide you through the Tutorial, and game. I think the tutorial is well done. Better than most I've seen in fact! In 20 minutes, I was getting the hang of it and actually smiling. I prefer darker games, but love to come across one, where the writers add wit and humor!
The story is well told so far..You play a young woman, stuck on an island. It's not deserted as there seems to be other homes, your castle, shared with your sweet Mom and a market to pick up your moms requests.. this is the storyline not the game play mind you. The young Lady #Our heroine), is bored and seeking something besides picking up produce and praticing her sword skills. Meanwhile, in the games opening..we see a rather sinister battle for a Treasure map between a rough Pirate and a not so nice himself wig wearing "dandy" man and his men. Something tells me thier stories, will all colide..I can't wait to see more! AND.. no one seems lost yet.. just a mysery left by a Father who seems to have passed away and left to his Daughter to solve.
The story and game are done in very easy to see, in clear, crisp, soft edged, comic style hand drawn graphics. The colors are bright and all very pleasent to the eye! I felt very immersed in the game and story.
There are TONS of options! Not even kidding, an entire FULL screen of them! You can turn on/off out Herones voice, 2 forms of music, and sounds. Cursor and it's speed, Graphcs options, a map, and widescreen are just a few. This game WILL fit, play, run and work for any computer screens, or new/old PCs with this array of setting! Bravo to the Devs for this!
The game play, as I said is like no other M3 I have played. Your sword weilding Heroine, pushes matches to the bottom row where you must match 3, or get a power up. Again your Cracker loving companion explains this complex at first, way to play, so well, you'll be swashbuckling though the levels in no time! You do have 3 lives, but I only lost one. It looks as though you replay the same level if you lose them. Levels are the normal set up (1-2, 1-3, 2-1 etc etc) of level 1 through 6 of Level 1, as seen often in M3 games.
There also is great replay value in this game! You start with playing the Adventure Mode, then when you have won that, there are many other gameplay choices, zen, timed... and take on a highscore. The Highscore is not your usual offline, preset beat the Developer's score! You can actually submit yours ONLINE, and you can even see the top 10 scores in your area! So far I'm not even on the worldwide board.. but I am at the top for my local area! ;)
There is a lot I'm leaving out, because there is so much to explore in this game. It's a shame more people have not tried it. I'm guessing a lot gave up too soon, before your feathered smart.. umm "tailed" (lol) little friend has you understanding how to play. I also saw just enough of the GREAT story, to be totally hooked on wanting to know what will happen to our heroine on her Adventures!
This game has many levels too, and looks to be a very long one, with days or weeks even of gameplay. Your going to get your moneys worth, so use a credit, buy full price or on sale, or use PCC. It's worth it! At the very least, give it a try, and play through a few levels. I'm glad I didn't quit the trial quickly, because the game play did get easier to understand. By the 3rd level I had it down.
Yup, I wholeheartedly, unequivocally, absolutely and most definitely recommend this game! ;)
Happy Gaming!
I recommend this game!

and my impression was, ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Seing the word "Quest" on any game, then "Adventure" mode in a trial, makes me think there will be SOME kind of story. Not so here! Sure if you REALLY like Bingo/Slingo games it's OK, but it got boring..after 1 Island, and getting the bonus and winning each round mindlessly spinning..not to mention feeling stressed to get the star for time, which is hard if you don't have sharp eyes..maybe I'll wait till I get new glasses to play another...then again..my hand it sore. Warning to all with hand issues. I have RA and mine is killing me after playing the trial. NOT fun.
Anyway.. if this is your thing.. maybe it's OK for a DD, but I wouldn't waste a credit. I think even kids might get board with this one. Maybe the other slingo games are better? I don't reccomend it.... unless you LOVE SLINGO. Then get it free with a PCC or as a DD.
I don't recommend this game.

This one is a classic and I played the trial, will add to my buy list...The game definatally has a learning curve to it. I played the full trial. I read everything and don't rush (I like to enjoy my games at a relaxing pace), there is a bit to read in the tutorial, and you should also play a "practice" game to learn what your doing. I didn't finish a full "game" during the trial. Even if I didn't read everything, I can't see how anyone beat the game with 10 mins left in the trial, unless as another reviewer said "They must have rushed".
I'm a long time RPG player, so wasn't a strech for me, but still much to learn, I did get the basic combat and turns right away. You get 5( or was it 6?) turns. Which means you can move so many places (the flags help you add your moves) to; take over a state, ask robinhood for help, rescue/kidnap a princess, attack a army, bulid a castle or keep, or do a tourneyment.
You can also buy and build your army. This is one example where you needed to play to learn. Keep in mind that is a 2 step process. You buy them.. and if you are on land with a Castle or a Keep, you can transfer them and your army grows. If not.. you'll have to move to one or wait a turn!! If attacked, you won't have them, if you couldn't add them after buying!
The cards help defence or offence. When offered 1 you can place it in your "hand" below, or if you don't want it, EXAMPLE: you have a 100% upgrade your knights, and you are offered a 50% one? Obviously you'd keep the 100% card. Instead of adding it to your hand, drag it to the deck to "reject it". I didn't get far enough into battles to learn how to change cards during one.
I lost1 battle learning and won 1. Trial ended midway in my 3rd battle.I liked the game! It's a great way for beginers to learn this type of gameplay, or improve it to play harder ones. It has great replay value, as you have 4 "Kings"(?) to chose, each with different +/-'s, and the moves the AI (computer players, they are highlighted to the left) are different, based on your actions. You can also move the options to where ever you want on the screen, if you don't like how they are set up. Nice option.
For me, its a buy. I read there is no save? If that is true, I'm not bothered by the "no save" feature. Just play the game when you have time to finish. Kind of like saying "OK, lets play a game of *insert board game here*, you know it's going to take time. For me it will be a go to game when I have a few hours to play, in between other genres I normally play. Like HOGS, Adventures M3s and Builders etc. It's what I call a "game pallette cleanser". No walk-through required, no sneekers (lol) just a relaxing turn based combat (I do not play action based games due to hand disabilities, So I love when I find any turn based games! If your a HOG M3 player.. it's like prefering Untimed/Relaxed game play. No stress to make your move. For me, it was a nice surprise and a hidden gem!
It's a game you must try first, while it won't be everyones cup of tea, don't let the lack of reviews stop you from giving it a test drive yourself!
Happy Gaming!
I recommend this game!

Nat Geo has put out 1 or 2 OK games, this one however, is the worst games I've ever played on BF! Each level has 4 parts of the country to Migrate through, but it all looks the same. Each of the 4 areas has 4 waves of the migrating "animals" to reach the finish line. You make yellow "Leaders" for them to follow, but the waves don't come all at once. If you have 20.. 5-6 might come out, and then 1 by itself that wanders off, no matter how long I waited flying a Leader back and forth at the start. So that 1 is a usually a goner. You fight wind current, or use them, but must time it or the birds eat you. Other bugs attack, but there is no HP or health reading, so you don't know when your butterfly/animal will die. This game is full of bugs,(the PC kind and insects..if you hate spiders in a game, don't even try it!) horrible graphics, stressful and boring. While there is some mild thinking to do; this is more of a "Arcade/Action game, not a strategy one.
1) If you have any hand/eye, sight or hand problems, (I do) this game is not only bad, it's painfull! 2 hours after the trial I'm still hurting.
2) Scoring is pointless, and along with getting them to the finish line, is the main goal of the game. Your goal is to get your animal (or the 1st lvel, butterflies) from one side to the other, without other bad bugs, birds, animals etc killing them. Each level ( I played 33 before trial was up) I lost 1/4 of my butterfly's, but it gave me a "Perfect" score and said I saved 100% of them? OooooooK.
Even for players that like fast paced clicking, this game will be far to dull for all it requires.
I do NOT reccommend this game at all. Not even for free. If I could give it no stars I would. Stick to TV show Nat Geo, your games could be great, but like this one, somehow just end up boring and you seem to listen to nothing us players want.
I don't recommend this game.

This M3 is like none I've ever played!! In a long list of games I'm trying, I intended to only play a few minuted to decide if it's worth buying and if I could play it. (carpel tunnel and arthritis makes some games impossible and stressful) Well the hour flew by and startled me when it was up! That is always a clear sign to buy! As the only other reviewer said.. it is indeed VERY addicting and so much fun to play!
No timers here.. really. It's very different..you play till you reach a goal as seen on the left. I haven't quite figured that out yet. But something I've never seen in a M3; as you go from one level to the next.. your matches and "Big Jellys" you worked on building up in one level, the next level they are still in the exact place! So it's like you never stopped playing! Yet another cool feature, that adds to the amazingly relaxing, fun and "Just one more level" draw this game has going for it!
But, don't let the evil enemy "The rocks" fall off the bottom. By the way, they're given some very dumb, low IQ (and hilarious!!) personalities. LOL! If they reach the bottom, then fall off in 1 more move, each one will stack to your right, and 6 I think (can't remember) block your laser and its "Game Over". Now, don't let that scare you off!! Even though I hate that in game, with this game it's different somehow. It's so relaxing, I don't mind replaying an area. It's not too easy and it isn't at all frustratingly hard either. It is the perfect level of challenge! I think I only lost the first area (I don't know how many levels it is to beat an area, I was almost past 5th of the 1st one when the trial ended) because there is a learning curve and the tutorial is kind of vague. Which is my only "Con" with this game. However... I learned easy enough how to play and beat the rocks. Which can be done by "Bonking" them on the head with a match above, or the sides with a combo. Especially helpful when they have "hats" that protect them. Which are kind of like moving (down the board) chains or ice. Depending on a fabric or metal type hat they'll need an extra bonk or two on the head before they crumble!
It's not a swap, but a drag and match or chainish type M3. Again a very unique feel to the game play too. You can match 2 or more, building bigger Jellys. Anything more than 3 wipes out the line, so there is a bit of Strategy required to rack up points. In between levels you play a bonus game, the goal here is to eliminate all or as many jellys as you can to get coins. Again play one or 2 and you'll easily figure them out. That is timed.. but you have plenty of it as they are very easy, to earn coins in it. You use the coins to buy bridges, or other improvements and new areas to play. Your first new area gives you zen mode..so it will be even more relaxing!
You can make this game as fast or as slow as you like. Earning Zen, or continuing in arcade mode as you play the first area in..though it wasn't hyper fast I would imagine it gets harder and area 1 is again, meant to be a "learning area", or you can switch to Zen if you like after the 2nd one. It seems to be quite a long game too. It's worth a Credit. PCC or if it's ever a DD snatch it up!
I highly recommend this very fun, addictive, funny game! The graphics are clear, plays like a dream and has a cute quirky side story. Why it isn't more popular I don't know?! Perhaps it was a "Soft Release"? Anyway.. whatever kind of games you like.... I think all will LOVE this one. It has a great re-playability factor and will appeal to all ages, the young or young at heart. For me, it will be a awesome game to come back to in between my HOGs, RPGs and builders. A Match 3.. made in heaven!
Just try it! I dare any Casual Gamer, any skill level or genre lover, not to love this game and be "Hooked"! ;)
Happy Gaming!
I recommend this game!

First off, I rated the level of challange "Excellent" because it was VERY hard. I wish they had an "Impossible" rating, because "Excellent" makes it sound good, and nothing about this game was for me!
Second, if you get sea sick, or have a fear of water, well don't even bother! Even scrolling and 360 games I can tolorate, this one made me ill! It's not "hand disability" friendly either. Just for the 1 hour trial, I needed a nausea pill and some pain reliever after playing. My mouse finger is throbbing, as you have to hold it down to keep your diver swimming along with some fast/double clicking.
Third.. the options are very limited, you can't turn off the super stressfull annoying music, but without it, you wouldn't hear the dreaded oyxgen warning. Yeah, note to the Developers; don't use that. Ever!
AND this is NOT an adventure game. Really, it should be under Arcade games. Someone also mentioned in the forums, when you die (run out of oxygen) you start over with your spears replenished.. not so! And some areas you need them, to get to a new box of refills. Not sure if this is a bug?
I've been expending my gameplay lately. My first love will always be HOGs in all forms, Adventure/RPGs and just about any game with a good storyline. I really wanted to like this game, and I did, for the first level.. it went from easy (I wasn't even on the hard option), straight to hardest game I've ever played on the site.
I'm not big on arcade console games, anymore, due to hand and eye problems from being disabled. What I love about BFGs, is even the hard/Arcade ones, I can play! This is one of the rare ones on the site, I just can't and wouldn't anyway, so no big "loss".
Yes there are bouys to save your progress, oxygen tanks and more spears to help, trouble is there are very aggressive pufferfish, sharks and eels (they look more like weird lock ness snakes), that deplete your oxygen so rapidly, it's often times impossible to get to them in time, before you run out. I died over and over.
The lantern recharges too slowly and is needed a lot, as many areas are too dark to see. The map is hard to follow, and sometimes doesn't match up with where your swimming.
While those good at arcade/console games may love this, most casual game players will find it difficult, frustrating and boring. I've played console games for years, and I love BFG, because the games are more relaxing. This is not! You look for what seems like the same things over and over. Also why did they make the word at the bottom of the instructions/level info "Yes" when it should be "OK?" For grammer pet peeves, there are lots.
I just can't imagine the level of challange if the 2nd one is so hard! Not for lack of tips, and I got the learning curve and "how to's", The music when your running out of air, flashing red (WARNING for those who are prone to seizures, by flashing screens, it doesn't but your diver who your looking at does!) and your flailing about, just made me stressed out and panicky! I do not play games to be stressed out. The controls are frustrating as well, though there are upgrades, they are expensive.Very unbalanced that the puffer fish and sharks can swim 5Xs faster than you, before you can come close to upgrading! So you must click to speed up lose oxygen and lose more if they touch you. Hit them with a spear, they take a good 4-5 seconds to disapear.. then reapear in the same spot! (Bug #2?)
So your diver is slow, hard to swim around tight areas and the rocks are confusing too. Some rocks are dead ends, and some you can swim past (where your diver is not seen, until you swim past, to the other side) so you really can't tell the difference.
There may also be a bug (#3!) in the 2nd level, as I found the treasure the mission required, but it wouldn't progress to the next level as the 1st one did.
While it isn't a horrible game, and some may like it with better eyes and none of the above mentioned ailments, it's one of the worst I've played on BFG, and to me it just doesn't belong on BFG. This would be better suited on a console, big TV and contol pad not a mouse, since you have to hold the "button" down, as in many console games. Although I don't see consoles wanting to pick up, this poor quality of a game. And I don't see many BFGamers liking it. I can not recommend it.
But if you like this sort of thing..I do suggest if your even considering buying; try the full hour first, before doing so! Had I stoped after the first level, I would have been asking for my money back! If timers (although not timed, your oxygen acts as one) and dying frustrate you. Dark games you have trouble seeing in, and your not swift with hand eye... swim away without looking back!
I don't recommend this game.
