This is wonderful! This has everything you could want in a game. Yes, it's chatty, but therein lay part of it's charm. The rest is the graphics, sound, HOS, games and storyline. You do have the choice of listening to the conversation or skipping it if you find it tedious. I found that you learn little tidbits of the story if you listen to the characters. Set in what seems to be the late 1800's England, there is a killer on the loose who cuts the hearts out of people who are unlucky in love after he kills them. He then leaves them to be found in very public places. You are the father of missing girl and you are helping the detective on the case find the "Lonely Hearts Killer". Three modes of play. Lots of fine tuning like voice levels, music, environmental sounds, regular sound effects, graininess of the graphics, cursor, widescreen, etc. There is a hint that is of help outside the HOs, a skip for games, a map and a journal. The HOs are very crisply drawn and not dark; they are interactive. The games are different and likewise crisply drawn and fun. I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this game. I am always so happy to get this quality of game to play and this is a buy for me. I played the demo and can't wait to play the rest of the game.
The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.
What an awful disappointment. I loved the 13th Skull and certainly did not imagine the new MCF game would be anything less but......... The storyline was just fine; a ghost hunter program sends a camera crew to film the desolate town of Bitterlake to uncover ghosts. A psychic meets you there as the camera crew is leaving. Something is amiss. The psychic is Lea Thompson. I have never seen her act so badly in my life. She emoted like the old silent film stars. It was bad. Two modes of play, a map, a journal and a helpful hint button and an inadequate strategy guide. The guide is in picture form, no words, and doesn't help. I couldn't pick up the clue in the developer even though I was following the directions. The graphics are fine, no problem there. The music is fine, too. The look of the game seems very outdated. The magnifying glass is very small as are the navigation arrows. I did a couple of puzzles that were okay and no HOS. I really can't comment any further because I did not play through the whole demo. I really didn't want to.
I don't normally find sobbing my way through a game very entertaining. This one rates 4 tissue boxes. You have been in an accident and in your resulting coma you hear a voice that tells you you must rectify the bad things you have done in life. And you have apparently have done a few. The game itself is quite good. There are two modes of play, a journal and a hint button that doubles as a teleporter to the next scene. There is no map but it's all right. The musical score is very somber and old feeling and fits right in with the storyline. There are no ambient or environmental sounds. I thought it comical that when the cursor became an eye, it blinked at you. There are HOS in every room that are quite interactive, There are plenty of puzzles, too. The graphics are appropriate. The old farm house gives you an old house feel the way that it is drawn. I play slowly so I didn't get beyond the farmhouse. I found the game interesting but incredibly sad and almost felt like I shouldn't be having fun with it. Anyway, if you are in dire need of a cathartic cry, this is the game for you.
Explore the vastness of a ship lost in time, what mysteries will you uncover amidst its Mayan idols, menacing sea creatures, and exotic treasures? Find out in this exciting new Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game on the open seas!
This is every bit as good as the CE. You and your oartner and your prisoner are heading back home when your boat literally runs into a ghost ship in the fog. Now on board the ship, you must find your partner and prisoner from whom you have become separated. You have the standard modes of play, a map, a journal a helpful hint and places for the extras you must collect. You must find parts of a Mayan calendar and and sections of an artifact must be found plus the hummingbirds you must capture in the HOS. The HOS are very interactive (Yay!) These HOS are the very best of any of the games I've played. You also have the option of playing Mahjongg instead of the HOS. The puzzles are rather unique to this game. Everywhere you went had a bunch of stuff to pick up and do. You don't exactly use everything quickly but then there is a lot to do in a lot of places. You do have to go back and forth quite a bit but the map will be a help here. The graphics are well done but a bit sketchy. The cutscenes are good and the voiceovers are appropriate. The music fits the adventure well with abounding ambient sounds. CE or SE, it's a fun game with sea monsters and great fun, which is the whole point of a game, yes?
I have played the demo and so far I have absolutely no negatives to write about. I even purchased the game as soon as the demo ran out. The storyline is a little different. Blackwater Island has archaeologists digging on it and they uncover an underground building (among other surprises) The water turns black and a monstrous tentacled critter runs rampant over the island. You must find the two archaeologists who stayed behind when the island was evacuated. The game has the standard 3 modes of play with their expected properties. A map that relocates you to the scene of your choosing and a journal that records the notes you come across and well as your suppositions as you ihnvestigate. A helpful hint, a skip for the puzzles, turtles to collect and a chest of achievements rounds out your amenities. The puzzles I came across were ones I haven't seen before and were solvable without being too simple. The HOS were well done; the objects looked the way they should and weren't buried in blackness or too small to see. Some were interactive. The graphics are superb and the music is wonderful (soft and understated, no loop). The ambient sound is appropriate and really helps put you on that island and into the adventure. The items that are picked up are used fairly quickly; at least before you can forget where you needed them. This is an exceptional game that so far is great fun. I look forward to this developer releasing a few more games of this calibur soon. I recommend this game wholeheartedly.
This is the third in the Shadow Wolf series and every bit as compelling as the first two. This story begins with the upcoming wedding of Veronica and Mr. Smith. They are to wed in Paris. But things go awry with the appearance of a werewolf threatening to wreak havoc upon the proceedings. It is your job to find his identity and neutralize him. There are three modes of play; I chose casual for the demo. This game has everything I like. Good, clear graphics; a hint/skip button; a notebook; appropriate and appealling voice overs; a good musical score and environmental sounds that help draw you into the game. This game has everything that I expect to see from this developer. The HO scenes are clearly drawn and some are at least two of the items are interactive in each scene. They are not as interactive as some I have seen but they're cute. (Bust falls into a cupcake and the frosting makes a beard) The puzzles I came across were different even though the basic principles are ones we've seen before. Navigation is an arrow with walking footprints. There is a strategy guide that saccesses easily. The demo went by quickly and I said "Noooo" when it ended so I bought the game. I have all three installments now and it is one of my favorite series.
The entire town has been put into a deep, dark sleep by a mysterious evil force. Now young Lillian must find allies and uncover the dark secrets of voodoo in order to save her master and free her friends before it is too late.
Let me stress, little. The graphics are very sharp in this game but very small. There is a lot crammed into one scene. It's rather monochromatic with just hints of color. Not made for widescreen, you just get to play on a square in the middle of the screen. This makes it difficult for players with visual issues. Even the print is small and doesn't stay on the screen anywhere near long enough to read it when it first appears. The story is that there is a curse on the town where you were born. Your Grandma is dead so now it is up to you to use your virgin powers to remove the curse. Your dead Grandma will help you. You get spells to use as you play along. There are two modes of play, a mortar and pestle that you can use to create spells, and a hint button that works outside of the HO scenes. There are puzzles to play which are not ionteractive and items to pick up for your inventory. You pick up a lot that you won't use right away. The music is extremely dramatic but it fits the mood. The mood and artwork are grey. i liked this game even though it was a strain to see. I wish the games would have the option to choose widescreen. This one's a keeper.
This game is a visual delight. Bright and colorful, it's a joy to look at. The music leaves a lot to be desired, though. It's a match-3 game with a couple of different boards. I liked the honeycomb one. There are pretty icons and you get a new one almost each new board. You rack up coins to use for building your town as you complete the levels. Instead of getting a whole building when you buy, you get just the start of the building. Then you upgrade until the building is complete. It's a little different than the other games where you buy buildings. The first house is a pumpkin house that you plant and then with each upgrade you watch it grow on the vine until it's complete. You even get a circus ! There are power ups that you receive along the way and little mini-games to do. The only drawback is that the boards are little so it's a bit of a strain if your eyes aren't the best. I thought this game was cute as a bug and fun to boot.
I found this game just delightful. A mom takes her daughter to the carnival and becomes trapped in the haunted house. You are the detective that is summoned to the scene. In your investigation you find the mom trapped in the mirrors. You must release her. There is much more to the story but I won't spoil it for you. he graphics are wonderful; just what a carnival makes you think of. Bright, colorful, gaudy. The music is appropriate with a light carnival sound but not overwhelming. Just perfect. There are 3 modes of play, a notebook, a map and a cute little monkey that will help you retrieve things that are out of reach. There are some different amenities to this game. You don't always have to have an item to open things; just a click of the mouse will do it. There is stuff to do everywhere and the things you have to collect are used pretty much right away. The HO scenes are clear and things are found pretty easily. They are lightly interactive and you can play Monaco instead, if you wish. Monaco is a Mahjong -like game and for every match you remove one item from the HO list. A very nice touch which seems to be becoming the norm. You receive achievements as you play. There are no "beyond" objects which is fine with me. The puzzles are different without being impossible and have good instructions. The voiceovers are nice though kind of few and far between. The rest is readable dialogue. This game is a lot of fun. When the demo was over I went "Nooo" so I know I'll be purchasing this one.
This storyline did not do it for me....mad scientist periodically snatches townspeople and now he's got your son.... yawn. I bet you have to rescue him and save the town now. There is Rudy, your son's friend who helps you. There are voice overs for them that are clear. I was disappointed that the mother had no real concern or panic in her voice as she tells Rudy his friend her son has disappeared. The graphics are all right but the HO scenes are misty in their appearance. They are junkpiles and some of the items were beyond difficult to find. It was impossible to find the fish without using the hint. There are 2 modes of play, casual and expert, a notebook, a hint and you can either play the HO scenes or match3 instead. I didn't come across many puzzles and they were very easy. You have a skip button for them. Game play moves along smoothly, items are used pretty quickly and there are a lot of them in each scene. As you go you collect blue crystals that are suppose to help you save him. They are easy to find, they glow and you are led directly to them. The music is not bad nor is it memorable. This is an okay game if you've been through all your other games and need to fill up time. I guess what I'm saying is I'm not impressed. It's not a bad game, I would play the whole thing but I don't think I would purchase it; it would have to be a freebie..
