This game has a little of everything. It's your typical collect resources/build game, and has two modes of play available in the options menu. Relaxed and Normal. I played normal mode for the demo, and it was fairly easy to gain three stars for the level without having to panic. I made it through level 12 in the demo.
The game reminds me of other games. You earn coins by completing levels and completing achievements (of which there are many). Additionally, each achievement completed gives you different amounts of coins. Some achievements are worth 5 coins, where others are worth 50 coins. You can use the coins to upgrade your buildings, which reminds me of the newer Farm Frenzy games.
Before each level, you're given an Interesting Fact about Chinese history, which reminds me of the Monument Builder games. Artifacts that you collect along the way also give interesting facts.
The timer is on the left side of the screen, and your tasks are on a pop-out tab on the side of the timer, unlike most other TM games which usually list your tasks at the bottom of the screen.
You can multi-click ahead, and you can cancel a queued task by left clicking; however, if your guy is already on his way to complete the task, you no longer have the option to cancel it.
Level 10 was a surprising hidden object list level, which sort of baffled me.
Another weird thing was at some point during an earlier level, the game warped me to a tower defense type situation. I found myself looking at a map with the area I was playing in shrunk to a small size and a horde of enemies were coming to attack it from all angles. I found that clicking on them killed them off until there were no more and it brought me back to my normal gameplay in progress.
There is also some random evil wizard that comes to town and sets fire to a random building, which destroys it and causes you to rebuild it.
I enjoyed the game, although it's a bit too easy for me, and at 40 levels, which is not a lot, I'm not sure I'd spend the regular game club price on this. However, since today is a special, I got it for half price.
I recommend you try it and see for yourself.
I recommend this game!

The planets must have aligned perfectly that TM fans received two TM games within days of each other. Yay!
I'm a big fan of this TM series, the last of which was release back in May.
There are two modes of play now, casual and expert. My review is based on expert mode. The previous installments didn't have this option.
There are no multi-clicks on expert mode, so you can't send multiple workers to chop down a tree for example.
There are other changes to the game, which I like. The main weather options, such as rain, sun, wind, are now a part of your taskbar at the bottom of the screen. They still have a short timer for regeneration after use, but they're all in one spot, which makes it easier to use. There will still be special clouds that appear on some levels as part of the terrain, but the main ones will be on the taskbar now.
The build menu is also different now, in that you have a larger window which shows each building you can build, and how many resources are required to build. The previous menu was much smaller.
Restoring the gold mine now requires the air cloud rather than sending a worker to rebuild it. Additionally, you now get rid of bad guys with clouds, rather than training soldiers at your camp.
Artifacts have been introduced to the game and give bonuses such as the Axe, which gives you 40% more wood when collected. You can use up to three artifacts at one time, and your chosen artifacts will be shown on the resource bar at the top left of your screen. There are a total of 18 artifacts, and you can choose which ones you want to use at the beginning of each level (after you've found the first one).
Character bonuses are now part of your taskbar and include run speed, extra resources, stop time, etc. Previously you had to build an altar to use these bonuses.
There are 40 awards, with bronze, silver, and gold levels to each award.
The premise is the same as the previous installments - collect resources, build buildings, defeat the bad guys.
It's a wonderful game, which I think most every TM fan would enjoy. Demo for yourself and see!
I recommend this game!

I participated in the beta for this game months back, and hoped it would be out for Halloween. I'm so glad it's finally arrived.
There's really nothing more to add to what's already been said in the 7 reviews already on here.
It's a really fun TM game, with a cute and funny storyline that had me waiting for more once the beta was complete.
Demo this, and I promise you will not be disappointed!
I recommend this game!

What a wonderful point and click adventure game this is!
The illustration of this game is actually quite beautiful, and I admire that it's not comprised of flashy 3D graphics found in most games today.
You have the option to play the game in English or German, which is a second language for me, so I found that to be quite a treat.
The hero, Robert, is utterly naive and charming. The voice acting is superb, and the dialogue is well written. The storyline is quirky, and everything that is whimsical, and it drew me in immediately.
The difficulty of the puzzles varies, and there is a great hint system available if you're in need of help.
Seriously folks, what a charming game this is! If you are a fan of the old school point and click adventure games, definitely try this one out. If you've never experienced a point and click adventure game, definitely try this demo - it will make you a fan.
I definitely recommend.
I recommend this game!

This is an excellent TM series that everyone will enjoy.
- Fun Storyline
- Three modes of play.
- Option to switch modes before a level is a nice touch.
- Lots of levels that are challenging.
- Strategic gameplay.
- Achievements.
- Replay value with beating Dev's scores.
- Added hidden object aspect.

I rarely play and review Hidden Object games, because they are pretty much a dime a dozen on Big Fish. Seen one, you've seen them all, you know?
Additionally, the genre is really not my cup of tea; however, sometimes a game comes along that checks all of the boxes that I look for in a game like this.
Warning label on the package? Check!
Genuinely creepy voice-over work? Check!
Disturbing ambient sounds? Check!
Eerie and sinister background music? Check!
Fantastic and frightening graphics? Check!
Awesome and chilling cut-scenes? Check!
I played in Chosen mode, which is the equivalent of advanced. This game reminded me of Resident Evil, particularly because of the child's voice, which was so creepy and effective in drawing me into the story. There were even some sly references to E.T. and X-Files during a puzzle scene and as part of the dialogue.
Speaking of puzzles, they are very well done, and make one think. The HOP scenes are not your same old same old item list, but more puzzle like and interactive.
The inventory and map are also interactive and nicely done.
I really can't recommend this game enough, and I wish there were more games like this. I really enjoy horror themes, and even if this didn't scare my pants off, it definitely creeped me out.
There are other reviews better than mine, but I wanted to speak more to the people who don't normally play this genre. Check this one out!
I recommend this game!

I played through 12 levels during the demo, and finished in gold time on all 12 levels. Two of the levels were cutting it close, but overall it wasn't buzzer beater challenging.
The gameplay is the usual concept of build, collect resources, and complete your tasks. The tasks are clearly given at the bottom of your screen, and the tips given in between levels is helpful, i.e. click on a building to produce the resource faster.
The dialogue within the game was a bit much for me, but you have a skip button that does away with that.
The game map was cutely designed as a house with ten rooms; five levels to a room that were curtained and revealed as you began a new level within them.
I bought this game at the half-off price of $3.49, and honestly I probably wouldn't have purchased if it were full price, even as starved as I am for a good TM game these days. I fear TM games on BF are going the way of the dodo bird.
I recommend the game for those who don't want to be super challenged, but will enjoy a relaxing game with nice graphics and a cute look regardless.
I recommend this game!

This is based on 30 minutes of a 60 minute demo.
You have the immediate option to play this game with a mouse or touchpad. You can also switch between either in the options menu if you prefer to later.
There are 10 levels in each area of the map, and an assortment of awards you can earn as well.
I was pretty bored after the first 30 minutes. You have a revolving wheel of fruit options to make smoothies for incoming customers. There's four smoothie makers behind the smoothie bar. Why four? No idea. Maybe later levels are more hectic and you need more hands to make smoothies?
There's a stationary hostess that basically does nothing. You can purchase two extra employees during each area of the map who will add to your tips. Nothing special.
There's some random flying fruits and swirly blue circles you can click on to add points or coins to your totals.
There's no rhyme or reason to this game. It just....is.
Boring for me. I flew through 10 levels in 30 minutes with three stars each.
Try it and form your own opinion.
I don't recommend this game.

This is quite an interesting strategy game, where you build your settlement from the ground up.
The game offers a detailed tutorial; however, it also took me the entire demo to really get the hang of it. By the end of the demo I was confident in how to build up my settlement.
You can choose to play casual mode or not. I chose non-casual, which added a little more challenge to the game play. You also have an option of Campaign or Endless mode.
Your tasks are listed in the upper right of the resource bar, and if you click on the task, it will open up the starting window that provided you with the task details at the start of the level.
The movement options of my explorer was a bit of a clunky design, and I have to admit that I wasn't a big fan of that.
This game is definitely something that grows on you, and I have the feeling that folks will either love it or hate it. I love it. It's interesting, different, challenging, and fun.
Give it a try for yourself!
I recommend this game!

I'm overjoyed to see the second installment, albeit two years later.
Same premise as the first installment, the look of the map is different, and it has some new features that I like:
Artifacts with bonus items that reward you with things such as extra resources.
Chest bonuses such as the Horn of Plenty and Sandals of Speed can now be picked up without being automatically used. They go to the top of your screen and are available to click on when you need to use them.
This game is strategic and doesn't begin until you start a task so it gives you time to review your objectives and plan ahead somewhat.
As long as you use your bonuses wisely, and plan strategically, the timer really isn't a big issue. There's definitely a learning curve and I encourage folks to give it a try.
I look forward to playing this game and definitely recommend you do too!
P.S. Wealth Scales halve the cost of Market items.
I recommend this game!
