While the graphics were very nice, I found the story line didn't seem to compel me. I purchased this CE, and quit playing after two hours; I was bored.
Too much predictability for me, not enough to do - just a lot of HOGs. I know I'm the minority in my opinion on this game, but this ranks as the ONLY CE I've regretted purchasing. Ever.

The interface for the game is a simple point and click - not the see-saw mouse type.
Navigation is easy, but the challenge level is a bit on the high scale. This suited me fine - just warning others.
The biggest con for me is that you can't click past the converstaions. And there are quite a few between Delaware and *VIC*/Kelly. Yes, it's useful, but I can read the conversations in a fraction of the time it takes for them to be spoken aloud.
Lots to poke around, find, and figure out in this game. If you like *gimme* games that always provide you with the very thing you need right when you are going to need something, this is not the game for you.

While the game has a decent story line, it gets very thin in spots.
The basic formula of the game is go to a *scene* in time, do 1 or 2 things to get a ring. Go back to the crystal ball area, place the ring in the orb, go to the archive room and collect objects for the time period. Repeat.
It isn't a BAD game. But there really isn't much of a challenge if you're looking for a true adventure type of game. If your main desire is to play HOS's, you'll be fine.

Though the game seems to be a bit older, it's very in depth and loaded with puzzles and logical problem solving issues.
Be prepared to work puzzles - you can NOT skip puzzles with this game. You will have to slog it out, or look up a solution online. (Most are rather doable - give them a try - isn't that why we buy these games?)
You can earn help and hints through the fortune teller machine inside the castle, though it costs three lucky coins. Don't worry - you can get more coins by working at the bar at the inn downtown.
The navigability isn't as high as in games made today, however, it is still very good. You will still explore the castle, though the interior isn't very large in terms of exploration. Don't judge on that - there are plenty of things to find/do all over the castle, as well as on the castle grounds.
Even in Junior detective mode you are really going to have to think outside the box to decide what to do next, where to go, or how to get past a particular obstacle in the game.
No one gets a free ride in a Nancy Drew mystery! And, quite frankly, why would anyone want to? You get a lot of challenge for the money you spend with this game.

Beautiful graphics, and great ambient sound.
Hidden object scenes weren't the usual variety: You are looking for *pieces* that come together to make the object, rather than looking for a particular object in a jumbled mess. With that said, they were not overly difficult to find.
The hidden object scenes were, to me, anyway, back-filler for the main portion of the game. The real focus was collecting different things, figuring out how to access certain parts of the palace/room/etc.
Difficulty level wasn't as high as others, but that wasn't a minus for me today.
Game length is more than fair for the price.
There is also a map available to show you where to find hidden object scenes, where you currently are, and where some clues might be found.
Look for the phantom shifting objects everywhere you go. They will make your hint button recharge faster.

If you like lots of things to do, or tasks to complete before going forward in a game, you will like this game!
Prepare to gather herbs in various places throughout the town to make potions in Nostradamus's lab room. Search the night skies in his observatory. You will be doing everything in this game!
You really have to think of what you need to do next, and where you should go in this game. It's a good adventure game, rather than HOS type.
The graphics are beautiful - my only complaint is that the town is so inviting, I'd like to explore more there!
Settle in for a long day (or several days) of game play. If you finish this in an afternoon, I'd be surprised. (And suspicious!)

Beautiful, eerie and well choreographed! The musical score is beautiful, and unlike many other games, the repetition didn't grate on my nerves - I left it playing!
I like hidden object games, but not when they're thrown in without reason or purpose. THIS game did NOT do that. You came to a hidden object scene when it was needed - to earn you a key piece to move forward in the game.
The game has a logical set up for game play. By that, I mean you don't find something in the first few minutes of the game, then hold it inventory until the end of the game, and most things you need to move the game forward come to you in the order you need them. (not all of them, but 98%)
There are many subsets of things you need to acquire in order to acquire another thing, which is the thing you need to open the door/box/etc.
All in all, it's a thoughtfully woven game, full of clues and objects that lead you along the play line at a good pace. Lots of playtime from this game!
