Don't know exactly why some games grab you and others not, but with this games I think it's the mysterious atmosphere. I rated 5 stars in details but 4 stars in general cause it was a bit on the short side. There are no HO scenes but HOs all over the place. A bit on the easy side. The dialogue is great, humorous, loved the helper character. I just read on the developper's website Cateia Games there's a second one coming out Tales of the Dragon Mountain 2 - The Lair. It says 2013 I hope it's soon.
I mostly bought because I loved Margrave The Curse of the Severed Heart. The good: The graphics are just beautiful, the story is quite good a bit difficult to understand it takes a while to get used to, but charming, romantic, unusual. Some of the mini games and puzzles were good. Just enough HO scenes. The bad: Just can't get the flow, I never understood what to do next. Needed hints and the walkthrough. Many situations/settings, probably too many it was like getting thrown into another world at every turn. A skipped a lot of mini games, just didn't understand what to do or just too difficult not worth the effort. Could not have done it without the map, really too bad it wasn't a jump map I found it tedious to go from one place to another, the map did not quite reflect the directions. You have to try it to see if it's your cup of tea.
I recommend this game!

Played full SE. Graphics were beautiful, lots of puzzles, Elephant Games high quality, long, fairy tale story was fun although seen before, I liked the personalities, pirates, animals, more... What I didn't like is the flow, I constantly asked for a hint cause I didn't know where to go next, clues didn't make sense, some magical things were just that, no reason just a thing to put somewhere. Still had fun playing it.
Why so terrible reviews. Played the demo in spite of all negativeness, bought the game at DD price. Good deal to me. True not great, but I've seen worse, I've also seen poor English before and didn't stop me from playing, the story differs from insane asylums and demons which I played enough of. I like different cultures and exotic places. Rates as a good hopa
Even more than the first one. Graphics were nice and bright and still eerie. Great scenery, fell right into the mood. Loved the story like in Phantasmat 1, there are unusual ghosts. I like the maps here and there, instead of static in a corner. Minis way too easy, HOS easy, interact are almost always just something hiding under something else.
Like previously said, wasn't expecting that much. Graphics are cartoons, but perfectly suits the game, reminds of old 60/70s adventure cartoons, maybe Indiana Jones style. But then boy was this fun. Many hours of can't leave the computer. Many characters adds to the world, many things to do, many surprises, a jump map very useful but sometimes I liked to go to places the long way so visiting this world and maybe discovering new clue/tool/object. Is in my top 10 best games list. I generally don't give 5 stars, reserved for exceptionally good games. This one gets a 5. After this I got Hide & Secret 3 Pharaoh's Quest, was ok but this one was better. Totally recommend.
Good game, nice and long, Elephant Games does not disappoint. My only pet peeve is that a couple of chapters we're running from the house to the swamp through the house to the backyard, many many times and this is the worst I ever come across I counted 12 clicks to get there. Come on developers you're wasting our time, try a different trick to make the game longer. It's a good story, lots of places to discover, good graphics, good puzzles, right amount of HOS and mini games, it would have got a 5 but for the running for nothing reduced to 4.
I enjoyed the game, worth a bargain price, my pet peeve is that it is too short. Loved the story, reminds me of a movie I loved The Name of the Rose, with Sean Connery. Mysterious atmosphere set in medieval, well rendered. I liked the VO, liked the cut scenes, liked the horse cut scene. There are no HOS but you still have to find things. There are mini games, collectibles. Had a good time, just too short, maybe 3 hours, I'm slow too.
