I was checking this out trying to find an easy, RELAXING mahjong game for my elderly mother...
Overall this could have been an enjoyable game, but it was ruined by fairly quickly being shown hints as to the next move WITHOUT clicking the hints button. I couldn't find an option to turn that feature off.
Seriously though, why even HAVE the hint button if we're shown the next move after about 10 seconds regardless.
I liked the butterflies, having normal and expert level and the available moves countdown. But about 3 boards in I had to quit because I just couldn't take hints anymore while trying to go slow and relax. If the hints was fixed I'd give this game either 4 or 5 stars.
This version also has jigsaws & too many similar colors

I played about 30 minutes of demo. I just played a full hour of Version 4 and could not bring myself to do the full demo on this one. I really WANTED to like this game, but I just can't. (Same pros & cons apply to version 4.)
CONS: 1) Does not name the image when done, which at times is tough to figure out. 2) Do NOT like jigsaw puzzle levels especially with no option to skip them. If I wanted a jigsaw game I'd have played one. 3) Many levels have too many similar colors - some levels WAY worse than others. PROS: 1) Offers various levels, including "easy" level with no need to manually change colors yourself. 2) Colors bright and images pretty. 3) At least during demo, logic always worked so no guessing. (Even penguin series has this flaw now and then.) 4) Advances pretty quickly in puzzle sizes. 5) Do not like default big black dot being used for background squares BUT if you click the DOT itself at right side - you can change it. (I missed that in version 4 because it didn't seem obviously changeable.) 6) Like that you can change the "style" of the colors, such as flat without a pattern, a gem pattern, reflective pattern, etc.
IF no jigsaw levels and a lot more variety of colors, I would recommend this game. (The other "cons" were not deal breakers - just these two.) But I could barely play an hour so there's no way I could play longer and enjoy it.

In another, 2 pinks almost identical and a red - but all 3 VERY close in color.) 4) While I do not need it, only saw 1 screen for the tutorial. 5) Do not like a big dot being used for background squares (those without a color). TM games are my fav and I really do love this game! That said, I have not yet bought the CE only because I'm not sure there is enough added to make it worth it, but I may change my mind. (I don't care about wallpapers, etc.)
The MANY positives have been mentioned, so I'm focusing on negatives. They are NOT reason enough to skip enjoying and/or buying this game though - they just need to be mentioned.
The biggest neg for me is you can not click ahead. So if your pirates are busy, you must wait until one is free before clicking the next task. That is suuuuper frustrating for me.
In some places, items are very close together and it can take a number of tries to get the exact item you want. It's not a biggie, but it's annoying. (For example, treasure has sometimes been right up again a fallen tree and I had trouble clicking the treasure instead of the tree.)
A negative AND a positive... the game is challenging!! I normally excel at TMs... frequently reach gold levels, rarely run out of time, etc. Not in this game. (Part of that may have been I was kind of tired.) And in relaxed mode it doesn't end the level if you run out of time. Seems to have a lot of replay potential.
So while the challenge is actually a plus, the neg is that if you're like me and get frustrated sometimes when you don't do as well as you usually do - the game may frustrate you. But again, overall the challenge should be a positive thing - especially with it having relaxed mode.
Lastly, the task list could be in a bigger font. But perhaps that's because I'm no longer 21. :)
So while I've not bought the CE yet (but probably will), I definitely recommend this game. And like some other players, I hope there are more versions of it in the future!

I love griddler puzzles (such as the Fantasy Mosaics series) and I consider myself an expert at these so I was excited to see something with perhaps a bit more of a challenge added - shapes. But... after playing, I realize MANY of the very low reviews were spot on!
These CAN NOT be solved just using logic - you are required to guess or keep using hints, which defeats the entire purpose of griddler games and make it no longer a game, but a steady stream of clicking hint after hint after hint.
Agree with others on other problems as well like crossed off items become a problem when changing shapes, you can barely even tell there is a counter when dragging across multiple squares let alone make out what it shows, the tutorial (which seems put together in about 2 minutes) is very VERY lacking in being helpful in describing how to play - even more so for beginners or those that are not experts at these types of games - especially the swap instructions - useless (and it's not intuitive).
This game HAD THE POTENTIAL to be a wonderful game, but it's really not a "game" when you just click hints over and over, and it's frustrating when some aspects are confusing without instructions. At first I thought some of the low review were folks who perhaps just didn't play griddler type games as much as players like me (die hards with all 13 FM games able to almost always solve w/o errors or hints), and that I'd certainly have it in a snap, and "of course" they're all solved by logic along - that's the point. But no, just no.
DO BELIEVE AND TRUST THE BAD REVIEWS. I don't recommend even downloading this one, but if you're going to try anyway, BE SURE to play through the whole demo time before you even consider buying it.
Because there are multiple good full reviews about overall play, I'm skipping that part. But here are some TIPS (partly based on negative items in reviews). Hopefully they will make the game more enjoyable.
* Want RELAXED mode? Like most games with a relaxed mode, if you're already in timed mode, simply create a new player and then choose relaxed mode. * Do NOT want to be told what to do and when to do it? Then turn off Hints (via Options). Hints are ON by default, probably because there is no tutorial, at least that I saw. If new to the series, leave hints on for a few levels until you feel comfortable turning them off and going it totally alone. (You can easily turn them back on later if needed.) * You CAN get more workers. Rescuing people in regular clothes gives no new workers, BUT, rescuing people in a hardhat does. Keep that in mind when choosing who to rescue first, although sometimes it's not best to rescue workers first. * DEMOLISH buildings. Remember, you WILL at times need to demolish and rebuild - such as when you no longer need money but you need lots of food - demolish houses and build restaurants. Hope these help! :)

If you're not willing to eventually just play 2 levels before you have to wait a long time to be able to play again - DO NOT even try this game. You'll get frustrated. Yes, the game IS free, all the way through. Playing runs on your coffee level. Coffee runs out - you either wait a while, buy coffee with coins earned in the game (expensive#, or you pay $3.99 of REAL money to have unlimited coffee. For the laser, don't recall if in settings, but there IS an option to say yes or no for holding down your mouse for a second or two and getting a laser #shows where the marble will land#. The quests are pretty useless, boring, and go away after you click on them at the beginning of the level. They are cumulative thru the game NOT for each level. #like unfreeze 20 marbles - can take 1 level or 10, doesn't matter#. Game NOT clear in that you can earn up to 3 stars each level. Once all the way thru the first time, unless you keep playing, NO idea you're not done and can get more stars each level. At least once #think twice# I got stuck and had to Ctrl-Alt-Del out of the game #and REDO the level). The pot had a FLAT bottom, only the 3 'star' marbles to touch and end the level. The couldn't roll to each other because it was flat. And because only the stars left, I could not drop another marble to smack them to each other. Even in the 2-star levels, got to where playing TWO levels made me run out of coffee - so I'd play those and just come back the next day. Annoying. AND, after some beginning levels, coffee NEVER REFILLS more than half or a little more, no matter HOW many hours or days you wait before playing again. REALL DO NOT recommend this game for long-term play. Which is too bad because it COULD have been really fun.
Great Game for Novice or Expert. Lots of features, lots of puzzles

A few helpful HINTS and extra info is also included, because some other reviews have wrong info.
OF NOTE: For max shape change or max # of pieces, DO NOT only use the slider - it omits the last increase. Either use only the PLUS sign, or max the slider and THEN ALSO click the Plus Sign once to get the last increase. Example... Box 1, Screen 1, Mardi Gras guy. Max pieces via slider is 294, via plus sign is 345. Max shape change via slider is 99, while via the plus sign it's 100.
The max # of pieces I could find was 345, but I didn't mess with every puzzle so it's possible some go higher.
Cons: Just 1 – only has ONE side tray for getting pieces out of the way. Hint… jigsaws do not have storylines, so having no storyline is a given and NOT a con.
Pros: even tho it's jigsaws I like the trophies and scoring features, unused pieces behind the worked puzzle pop to the front when those are only ones left - so don't easily "lose" pieces, LOVE fasten to table feature, can change background color, ghost image, a pop-out with the full color image, piece rotation is OPTIONAL on all puzzles, can change piece shape, can change number of pieces, can move multiple pieces at once to the side box, a button gets you border pieces only.
Yes, there ARE 1000 puzzles. In each box you see 8 puzzles with 1-32 at bottom. Use arrows to switch screens 8 puzzles at a time. 31 screens have 8 puzzles, the final #32 screen has 2 puzzles. So that's 31x8 plus 1x2 for a total of 250, per box.
You CAN turn off piece rotation, even if puzzle shows 'rotate' icon in the display before choosing it.
HINT on "fasten to table" option. If confused by this one, it simply means when a piece gets put in the right spot, it gets locked to the table and no longer moves if you click on it.
So... for those that enjoy jigsaws, this is a wonderful game with A LOT of user-friendly options. It seems great for EITHER a novice or a pro, depending on which features you turn on or off. I'm buying this one as soon as I finish my review! Definitely recommend it!

GREAT game! A favorite, helpful feature is the auto-fill that fills in remaining 'no' squares of a row or column after you correctly mark all the 'yes' squares. For example, 15-square row, 5 are part of image, 10 are not, and you just finished marking the 5th 'yes' square... the game AUTOmatically cancels out any of 10 'no' cells that you haven't already crossed off. I've gotten pretty spoiled by this feature now.
Other pros... images are colorful, grids go up to higher numbers of squares very quickly, and has a good variety of images - with names of what they are. ALSO liked that no themes were mentioned in the various sections, which made for GOOD REPLAYABILITY by not triggering memories of what the images might be.
Cons... no storyline - just ads items to a garden in the order the game wants, no trophies or specific goals, no way to tell if I had an error when I played a level before - so no way to try for perfect play on every level, grids don't go higher than 15 x 20, and only 100 levels - wanted more levels because I enjoyed it so much!
BIG con was the music and sound does not totally mute no matter how many times I try. There's still enough sound that I can't listen to audiobooks while playing unless I turn them up a tiny bit louder than I normally would.
Hope this dev team comes out with MORE versions of this game!! I purchased the game about 15 minutes in to the demo, and definitely recommend it for those that enjoy these types of games!

The developer obviously doesn't understand these games can NOT involve guessing. There must always be a logical non-guessing solution. These are riddled with errors and was so frustrating I could not even finish the trial. Because of the GUESSING involved, you get needless errors, have to start over, AND miss out on trophies. You collect candy but there's nothing to spend it on - so it's pointless. After about 2 minutes I had to turn off sounds they were so annoying and tinny. This game really REALLY missed the mark. I wouldn't keep or play this anymore even if it were free because it's too frustrating and not worth my time.
