The game started out promising. But then it was not clear where to go next much of the time. And the HOS scenes were tedious. It wasn't just hard to find items, but they were practically invisible. I was constantly using hints and finally just playing the Match 3 when it was an option. It was actually fun.I agree that the times where you had to find or match pairs on the Nessie statue were very annoying. I just kept clicking Hint and let it show me. I never do that in a game. I also skipped a lot of the mini games, something else I rarely do. And one game was find the differences, but it was only one picture, and I never could figure it out. I randomly clicked around until I clicked the right thing and got a check mark, and even then I didn't understand why or what it was different from! Then parts of the storyline were murky - like they never explained why a natural disaster related to Nessie. I literally finished it a couple hours ago and I've already forgotten the ending. It was very disappointing.

I enjoyed this one as much as the first installment. It's a game - it's fun, visually appealing, not challenging for expert players, but new players need something like this to learn on. I'm an expert, but not a game snob. I can enjoy a fun, easy game like this if it keeps me entertained, and so far this series has done that. There were some issues with this one, while the first one was very smooth. This one lets you replay each scene as much as you want to, and shows game currency, but that part only applies to the Collector's version. And at some point in Level 3, there was one puzzle that could not be completed in the replay - definitely a game error and not a player error. There were a few mislabeled hidden objects, and in the last few scenes, some objects you had to click on in multiple places until you found the sweet spot. That would mainly be annoying if you were trying to earn the game currency because you can't have any mis-clicks & you have to replay the scenes to earn the game currency. It was much longer than the first one, which made for more fun, but also made the story line drag out and frankly, I forgot how it all began by the time I got to the end. But the point is, the HOS and puzzles were fun, and even a beginner would not have to use hints(except for game errors not showing the object or mislabeling it) or use skips. There were several puzzles involving creating a path, and those were very clear to me so I don't understand the one review that said there was no grid. I think some experts get offended when a game is too easy. Again, I like an easy game sometimes, as long as there is a fun factor, and there was here. As with the first one, I think a parent and child could enjoy this game together. There was somewhat of an education factor, although there were mistakes in that aspect. Overall, when you need a nice break from the usual mysteries or scary stories, try this game and just enjoy some fun game play without the challenges. Not all games need to test your skills - a fun game is plenty of entertainment.

This game was surprisingly fun. It's very easy - no challenge for expert players. But for a nice relaxing change of pace, it was great. I think a parent could play this with their kid and both would enjoy it. At least the HOS make some sense and it isn't just a series of jumbled junk that has no relevance. It kept me entertained. Not every game needs to stump the player at every turn. It was nice playing through and not having any need to use hints or skip the puzzles, Just a fun game.

This should have been made and released as a different game. It felt nothing like a Mystery Trackers game. No Elf - love him or hate him, it was weird not to have him. You play as three different young people. Maybe this is meant to attract young players. I prefer the regular detective. I don't like switching between characters at all. Other games have it and I find it confusing and unnecessary. Part of what makes a mystery game creepy is being alone. The character's voices are just awful. One of them speaks with a strange and very annoying inflection. As others have stated, the mini games are simply not fun. And a couple have such confusing instructions I couldn't figure them out. I skipped a lot of the mini games. HO scenes were easy - too easy. The story implied one character was corrupt or behind the mystery, then was never heard from again. Finally I got a little over halfway through and the game stopped responding. It would not go beyond the scene. Sound was still working, hint made a noise but went nowhere. I checked a video walkthrough and it definitely wasn't something I was doing wrong. I had noticed other hiccups during the game. Read fast, because a page or note would be found and vanish quickly, and there was no way to read it again. If you have been a Mystery Trackers fan from the start and have all of them like I do, you probably won't like this game. Even as a stand alone game, I don't like it. Skip it and maybe the next one will be better. I won't buy another MT game if it's made the same way with the young, annoying characters and no Elf. Maybe it's time for them to retire this series.

This starts out very promising. A throwback point & click, like the old Myst series. It quickly sinks into a mundane exercise of clicking on things and placing them where it tells you to. No puzzles, no challenge. And I say quickly because if you blink, the game is over. It plays like a demo or beta test. An experienced player can get through this in about an hour. You spend the short duration of the game in the same location, and once you get out, it's over! A message pops up telling you it's the end and buy the next game! Since there was no continuation or mention of the storyline after the first room, I forgot what it was about. The description of the game is a big lie. There are no mysteries solved here. Just a waste of you time. You will feel very cheated when it abruptly ends. It's the same feeling as when a demo or beta tests ends, but at least then you know there will be more to it. This one just leaves you forgetting who your character is and why he's wandering around a dungeon. I got it on a Daily Deal, and I still want a refund!

I'm giving this 5 stars based on the release date of this game. All games are bound to become dated but for now this one holds up well. It does stick to a basic formula with some repeat actions. But, each time the theme is changed and I think the storyline keeps it interesting. It is a game you either enjoy as an entire package or not so much if you only want the game play. I love Match 3 so I really enjoyed the option of playing one for a while to earn more hints. I found myself using hints more freely just to play the Match 3 for a couple of minutes. The mini-games were fun and while "spot the difference" is not my favorite mini-game, they were short and easy to get through. This is actually the second time I played this game. I just got the sequel and wanted to refresh my memory on the storyline in case it carries over. I did not find it tedious to play even a second time. In general, if you want a basically fun game with moderate challenge and a decent storyline, you will enjoy this.

This is a definite improvement over the first installment. Better graphics - good depth to the graphics, nice spooky tone. Several types of hints make the gameplay pretty easy. But it was entertaining and I never found it to be tedious or too repetitive. I thought there was a nice amount of Hidden Object scenes, versus the first installment which just had too many. There were a lot of locations and not too many repeat visits to each HO scene. The photo map shows what tasks can be completed and where the next HO scene is, so with the jump feature it keeps you from wandering around aimlessly. The Vampire theme was weak, however there were a couple of truly creepy scenes. One scene in particular could make some players jump if you were playing it alone in a dark room. If you hate spiders, one scene is sure to give you a serious case of the heebie jeebies. The cut scenes were paced well this time. This won't be the best game you ever played but it is a decent length with decent gameplay so you will at least feel like you got your money's worth.

This game is just OK. It is fairly long, but not in a good way. It gets very tedious. There are a lot of hidden object scenes but only a few locations - you keep going back to the same one too many times. Many of the objects are poorly labeled or totally wrong. And the wash over the scenes leaves everything faded out which frankly makes some objects too hard to find. The story did have a lot of twists but the cut scenes were painfully slow and the Faster button did not seem to move it along. It is a game that should be better than it is and you want to like it but the monotony of the seemingly endless hidden object scenes takes away from the total experience. The entire game is a case of too much and too little.

This is an extremely pared down version of the original large file game. It can easily be played in an hour. All of the mini-games have been removed. It is mostly walking around and talking to other characters. If you try to use any of the posted walkthroughs, you will get very confused because all of the games and challenges they mention do not exist in this version. When you start out, the artwork is so good and the story is interesting, so it seems like it will be an awesome game. But after talking to all of the characters - some several times - and going to each location - some more than once, the "game" abruptly ends. With all of the challenges removed, I think even if all three of these parts were sold together for a single game price, it still would not be worth it. I was very disappointed.
