I don't know how they can call this a solitaire game other than it uses cards. It's more matching/majong but without the challenge. It's sooooooooo boring. The music is inane and the only way to earn three stars is to not touch your deck and just buy wildcards with coins which is incredibly stupid.
There are two modes... expert and relaxed... however even relaxed is possible to lose as the only difference is that you get double the deck of cards to start. I played expert and it was so far from expert that the light from expert would take a million years to reach us.
Bright cartoonish colors so might appeal to little kids so I gave that an "ok" rating... otherwise this thing is awful all around. I hated it. But you never know... maybe this is your cup of tea... just go in knowing that if you care about stars you can not also care about saving coin and you MUST buy the cheats in order to win three stars which is super counterintuitive.
I don't know when devs will ever learn. I play to relax but that doesn't mean I don't want to earn stars!!! For goodness sake do you want people to buy your game or not? When I play relaxed mode I STILL want to earn stars for finishing, finishing within certain times, or number of moves... but I don't want to be forced to replay for not making time or moves. This isn't rocket science guys. If I can't play the way I like I won't buy.
Aside from that, the text was very hard to read. The white text over multi-colored cartoon graphics was too hard to read so I couldn't enjoy the story. I love games with storylines so that was disappointing. Egyptian themes are one of my favorites so I was really looking forward to this... but... it was just boring.
There are a lot of match 3 games out there that blow this one out of the water. Try the demo by all means, maybe you'll like it. But I hated it.
I've almost completely stopped buying CE games because paying double just for extras I rarely use is a waste. (And a lot of games I don't even want to play the bonus game because it's clearly a quick addon with no real play value.) But this one is actually worth the money! Morphing objects, puzzle pieces, and sin cards to collect AND if you collect all the sin cards you find a secret bonus game... so you get the extra bonus game typical of CE's but you also get the second hidden bonus game if you collect all the cards. Not only that but this dev nails it by letting you go back and collect them if you missed any! I was trying to find them all during play but I somehow missed one and thought I would be out of luck but NOPE! This dev has got your back! You can go back and find the ones you missed. My only "wishlist" item would be to add more puzzle pieces as I love putting them together after finishing the game.
I am also a fan of the evidence collecting... it would be better if they didn't highlight where the evidence goes and instead allowed us to figure it out but that's minor. Even better would be having a hard/easy mode so for those who don't want to think it would be highlighted and for those like me up for a challenge you get to figure out where the evidence belongs.
I'm actually going back to check out other games in this series I was so impressed with this one.
This game is "practically perfect in every way"!! It's a fun mix of strategy and RPG with resource gathering and professions both with a hint of hidden objects searching for treasure, mushrooms, and other tiny things. I had trouble pulling myself away to write the review but wanted to add {another} five star review to this games growing collection of raves!
There are a few things on my wishlist for the game that would tip it up into the next level... (do devs read these reviews? this part is for you)...
1) The ability to customize difficulty level would be nice so that we could turn off the signals on the screen when herbs can be harvested for example to make it more challenging or turn on signals when resources have respawned for those times we don't want to strain our eyes searching for the tiny things. 2) Being able to customize our avatar would be nice as well... having an equip function for example and choosing gender. 3) Having a vendor available at the beginning that buys extra weapons or things we find would be great too since there are times you end up waiting for the free resources to spawn in order to gain more life hearts to continue. 4) Adding lockpicks to the early vendors would be great 5) And finally, adding narration to the story portion would also be fantastic!
All in all a solid five stars! With a minor ding down to four stars for visual/sound quality and level of challenge... but those dings are minor and do NOT change my overall five star rating.
HINT: (but not a spoiler)... do not judge the game on the start. The beginning can be slow even if you choose your quests carefully and spend your life hearts wisely. At least play the entire demo before deciding because it really picks up as you go along.
Enter a fantasy world, where a young elven princess and her fawn friend oppose an evil that threatens to consume the Kingdom in this exciting time-management game
It's 2019 guys... if you haven't figured out by now that people who enjoy playing relaxed still want to earn stars for completion then we have a problem. If you program your game to be "your way or the highway" then you lose sales. I play relaxed because my life is stressful... not because I can't play hard mode... but make it MY choice.
This is my favorite style of game... strategy and resource gathering... so this would have been an insta-buy for me if not for the missing stars in relaxed. (And by missing I mean you get to stare at the blank stars for not earning them I don't mean they just aren't there so that makes it even worse.) Perhaps it gets better later on but it's a pretty standard resource gathering game. Nothing special.
They have voice controls so I expected narration but the only voice is annoying fake "hurry up" type sounds during game play there is ZERO narration of the actual story. I ended up turning the sound off because it was cheesy and got annoying.
Anyway... try it... but if you like a full relaxed experience then this isn't the game. If you don't care and only play timed then you may like it. Probably not worth the CE price depending on what you like... the extras to find are super lame... basically a pink cylinder shape and a square card shape and then a tiny morphing thing that if you are timed and trying to find forget about it.
The other reviews are more comprehensive but I love these games... strategy/TM... and I play relaxed mode. TIMER = NO BUY... you'd think devs would have learned this lesson by now. Do you want to try and order me to play your way or do you want me to buy your game? Cause you don't get both. Either offer a relaxed verson with no timer AND that allows you three stars (assuming you use stars) for completion or I won't be buying. End of story. That said... I'm not sure I'd have bought this anyway because the graphics are just so... GREEN. Very, very green. I prefer more interest and variety. Perhaps it gets better later but I couldn't get that far.
I misjudged this game based on demo. I almost didn't get it. That would have been a mistake. Take your time, read all the journal entries, invest yourself in the story. My only complaint is a personal preference... I miss the live actor videos... they are my favorite.
Lots of puzzles including multiple sections that MCF is famous for... and a variety of difficulty to please everyone. Some hard, others easy, and it's possible to skip only specific parts of the complex puzzles so you don't have to skip the entire thing.
Length of game is hard for me to judge since I leave it open and take breaks but overall I spent 10 hours in game. The length of the bonus chapter was super short and I'm not sure how it fits with the main game. But the girl in the beginning was done excellently.
Achievements were fun, some unique to this game, Lots of extras such as morphing objects, leaves to kick, and cards to find in the main game as well as letter pieces to find in the HOS.
I haven't posted a review in a long time and haven't been a fan of recent MCF but this one is really GOOD and well worth playing. Wish there were more like it.
Loved this game! Unique story line that kept me interested to the end. Even had extra crystals to find in order to see some extra scenes which was fun. The feel graphic-wise is kind of like Lost in the City... a linear hog with extra puzzles to solve. I would have preferred some instruction offered on the puzzles as I wasn't always sure what I was supposed to be doing but that wasn't enough of an issue to knock a star off. I wish we would see more games like this!!
Bought this based on the "intense psychological thriller" tagline... The story line has so much potential and I was really looking forward to playing but... it's just... tedious is the best word I can come up with. Same old same old... remove broken ax handles... put a new handle on... sharpen the blade... ad infinitum. Boring, pointless tasks... glue on a broken microwave handle?? Really? Why can't I just push the open button? I doubt I'll finish the game... and regret spending the money. I really wish they would offer games that are TRULY for mature audiences... at least like the old MCF games or Sanitarium... or Redrum...
So setting aside that idea and looking at it from the standpoint of is it a good game in general? Nah. It's ok. There's nothing inherently wrong with it... but... it's just generic... It is also super simple... you can click almost anywhere and it will do whatever is meant for you to solve... so no brain needed... just click the screen and the game does it for you.
Pick it up on a coupon day or something if you must but there are better games. I don't recommend.
I don't recommend this game.

The idea is you get a bunch of cards in different cities and you try to make poker hands by connecting cards that touch each other. So you couldn't use one card on each side of the board in a single hand for example. Your goal is to make certain hands in each city but you also need to try and get an expert score so if you settle for the hands they want you to make... lots of two pair, three of a kind... you won't make expert. So you can basically choose... either go for the hands they suggest or go for the best hands you can find. Expert is super easy though... unless it gets harder really quickly there isn't much challenge to the game.
I played for half an hour and was amused at first but it just got boring... super repetitve and no real storyline. The cities just seemed like an excuse to call it "world tour" in the game title... no point to it really. Plus you have to make notes on what hands that your goal is since once you start playing they don't tell you what they are, in fact they don't even tell you if you reach the goal so that was annoying. If I'm going for a goal I'd like to know if I reach it!!
If you live for poker and are bored then maybe give this a try but I do love poker and I couldn't even last out the full demo hour. Boring.
