I played the Collector's Edition. I liked the main game alright, although it's not my favorite in the series. I'm not sure why, to be honest. The visual and sound quality of the game was just as good as previous games and the puzzles were challenging without being overly so. I think it was just the subject matter of this particular game that I didn't like as much. This one just wasn't as interesting to me as previous games in the series. I also felt that Richard was vastly underused. I did really enjoy the bonus chapter though. That storyline did interest me quite a lot, especially the way it ended, and I really hope we will see it continued in a future game! Overall, I still felt this was a good game and I would recommend it.
After the disappointments of Key to Ravenhearst and Ravenhearst Unlocked, I was ready to write off MCF. I really don't like where Eipix has taken the series at all. When I saw the trailer for what used to be called Hotel Victory (a much better title than Rewind, in my opinion), I thought maybe it would take the series back to the good old days of earlier games. I was wrong. The same cheap graphics, the same messed up storyline (I don't want to give away spoilers, but based on previous games Victor shouldn't even be around anymore), this game was just as disappointing as the previous two Ravenhearst games. MCF is officially dead to me. This game just finally clinched it. I'm done with this series.
I really liked this game at first, having enjoyed the demo. It was better than Key to Ravenhearst and Ravenhearst Unlocked (which were disappointing travesties in my opinion), but nowhere near as good as the first three Ravenhearst games or earlier MCF games under Big Fish. I liked the graphics and the voice acting. I liked the creepy atmosphere. I found most of the puzzles to be pretty easy and not much of a challenge. I found all but 4 of the puzzle pieces and if you go into the extras section after beating the game it will take you right to each scene to find the rest of them (and the reward was not worth it to me). I think I only found two morphing objects and I'm not sure what the point of the trophies was. Again, you can go to that section in the extras area after the game and it will take you right to all of them. They're in plain view. No challenge there.
I thought I understood the storyline until I got to the end, then I was confused as to exactly what was going on. I never did understand what the villain was trying to accomplish. I don't want to give away spoilers, but something that was said towards the end of the game in regards to the Master Detective just didn't make sense to me and was never really explained.
I also felt the bonus game was way too short, made no real sense and added absolutely nothing to the overall game.
I keep buying these MCF games, but I don't know why since I've been disappointed with most of them since Eipix took over (I liked Broken Hour okay, but still nowhere near as good as the first three Ravenhearst games). I'm going to think long and hard next time another MCF game comes out before I buy it. I think I'm pretty much done with this series, which makes me sad.
If you like lots of puzzles and a creepy atmosphere but not much else, you might like this game. If, like me, you long for the days of the first three Ravenhearst games, you will probably be disappointed.
I've played all the Grim Tales games and really enjoyed them. The characters and storyline keep me coming back for more. This one not only did not disappoint, but I think I may have enjoyed it more than any of the others. It was creepy and had a nice, unexpected twist to it. I felt that the dialogue and overall storyline were just extremely well written. The puzzles ranged from quite easy to challenging. There were a few points at which I had to use the hints to figure out what to do next, but that might have been because I was really tired during those points. The ending of the bonus game really makes me wonder what is coming next from this series and I really hope we get to find out.
I was worried after playing Key to Ravenhearst and my fears were confirmed with this game. Eipix has deviated so far from the original Ravenhearst storyline that these last two games don't even make sense. There are pretty major plot details that directly conflict with details from the first three games. The quality of the art has really gone downhill too. In my opinion, the last two installments in this series just fail miserably. If this is where the series is going, I will not be playing any more of them. Very sad and very disappointing.
I gave the demo version of the game a glowing review, but after playing the full game my opinion has changed considerably. I have played all three of the previous Ravenhearst games so many times that I have lost count, but I don't think I will be playing this one again. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but the storyline is confusing and contains many direct contrasts to previous games, which just make no sense at all. The graphics, while pretty, were flat compared to previous Ravenhearst games, especially the third one. The lack of live actors is a big negative for me. The characters' clothing seemed to come from the late 19th century while other details in the game place it clearly in 2015. I thought perhaps the characters were only wearing costumes, but the bonus game negates that idea. It's as if the game designers didn't know what time period they were working in. Overall, it just did not feel like a Ravenhearst game to me. I was very disappointed and wish I hadn't spent the money on it, even at the sale price.
I don't recommend this game.

I am a huge Ravenhearst fan. I've played the first three games more times than I can count. I enjoyed this demo immensely. It was challenging without being overwhelming, the graphics and music are beautiful and it alludes to previous games just enough to keep me wanting more. Based on this demo, I cannot wait for the full game to come out!
