I hope you've got a strong stomach for this one. The first few minutes were shaky camera movements, cutscenes which sped in and out of focus and distance. It gave me only the kind of nausea that a 3D movie usually does. Unplayable for me I'm afraid.
I hope that this is the kind of game that Big Fish will leave behind in 2015. Flowery, hyper-coloured and fuzzy graphics couldn't prevent this from being, well, boring. Unpleasant characters that made no sense, clunky puzzles and lack of clarity about what to do next. There are much better choices in the Big Fish menu at the moment.
Really nice game play. Lots of different scenes with lots to do. I had to use the map a lot to remember what to do next, but it was easy to use. I still have no idea why the bad guys were doing what they were doing, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of this game. Highly recommended.
Retro game style, which has its charms, but I found it increasingly frustrating. By retro I mean the dialogue style and the way you interact with objects. I wasn't about to finish the game due to a glitch.
I haven't enjoyed a game as much as this in a long time. Set in the modern day (yey!!), not driven by cutscenes. Relaxing and enjoyable gameplay, split into nice short chapters so that the game can easily be played over many days. I really enjoyed the music too.
An original storyline and enjoyable gameplay. Even though there is a castle and magic involved, this game isn't annoyingly sweet. The puzzles and adventure elements had good variety and the characters were good too. An enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
The storyline of this game is refreshing and original. A nice way of honouring and spreading awareness of the works of Charles Dickens. The villain was also an original and many of the puzzles were good challenges. Highly recommended.
This was a good adventure game, with an engaging storyline. It had an innovative repeating puzzle type based on the retro Viewmaster toy. I got a little confused by the characters at times. The scenes were interesting and the puzzles varied. The good news is that there weren't too many cutscenes. It would have been 5 stars from me except that a glitch meant that I had to restart the game again after getting nearly one third of the way through.
This is the kind of game that is great for relaxing and de-stressing at the end of the work day. Comprising dozens of discrete chapters and puzzles. The graphics are modern and realistic. Each hidden object scene has a number of things to do.
This game will suit those who like a slow-paced, easy to follow experience. Up against other contemporary games in this genre, the gameplay seems slow and clunky. Specifically there is a bit of waiting between taking one action and the next. The style of graphics is also my least favorite, I prefer realism and modern urban settings for my games, whereas these graphics are highly coloured and a bit like illustrations from a children's book. On the plus side, there aren't many cutscenes.
