Pure Hidden is unlike any other HOG in so many ways, which is one reason I go back and replay it on a regular basis. I purchased this game two years ago and have played it many, many times since then.
There is no storyline, just, as the title says, pure hidden objects. Collages form the basis of the artwork, with a variety of art styles so that the different scenes don't get boring. The objects are carefully drawn and placed to make finding them a challenge. There are also enough different objects that no two games are alike when replayed.
There are objects hidden so cleverly that I'm certain it could be frustrating for some HOG fans - lots of object/ground puzzles that are almost optical illusions and excellent use of negative space for hidden objects. Hints recharge quickly. which is helpful when the last 2 HO's are just too hidden.
With such sophisticated artwork and HOGs, I find it odd that most of the mini-games are almost childish. In one, you choose and place objects in a bathroom - that's it. No right or wrong answer, no puzzle. Luckily the skip button works just fine.
I expect I'll still be playing this game for years. I just wish there were a 'Pure Hidden 2' in the works. Sigh...
I recommend this game!

Lost Souls: Enchanted Paintings
After the police and FBI come up empty in their investigation, Bella turns to forces beyond our world to find her missing son!
Exactly the right level of challenge: just enough difficulty to be interesting, but not so much that the gave was frustrating. Each painting, or scene, was a self-contained quest, which I liked because it kept the back-&-forth hunting for items to a manageable level. Graphics were beautiful, though the hidden objects themselves repeated from painting to painting. For example, there was an hourglass and a pair of binoculars in almost every scene. I normally don't read the story, but I did with this one and enjoyed it. I found it interesting that the title and beginning implied that this would be a dark, dire story, but in fact it wasn't. There were a few things that bothered me, but they were minor. Did the pirate really need to be Captain Jack? I enjoyed looking for the coins in each scene, but I didn't really get the point of using them to buy the trophies. Overall a fun game and one I'll play again.

I've played the game through twice in the past week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't be put off by the hokey dialog or the Farmville-style farming - you can skip both and just play the hidden object scenes. I played the full game one time, then just repeated the HOG scenes the second time.
Positives for this game include: -Wonderful artwork. The scenes are beautiful. -It works with a touch screen!!! -Extra HO challenges are great (for example, "find 3 objects in alphabetical order") -Objects are generally correctly scaled in size. -There are enough objects in each scene that you'll be searching for new objects the next time you visit it. -I enjoyed most of the puzzles as a nice change from HOG scenes. -Ability to skip puzzles if you don't like them. -A positive storyline - no murders, ghosts, nightmares, undead pirates, etc.
Negatives (and there are very few) include: -Gems are often too small and don't look like gems, making them hard to find. -After each HO scene, "Manny" appears to tally up your score. He's annoying & can take 3 clicks to get rid of. -A few objects are very hard to find, even for an experienced HOG player. -The sound of the cash register dinging is very annoying.
Advice: -If you plant crops & raise animals, use the upgrades to increase the water, feed, etc. You'll get the points you need faster. -Turn off the music & keep the ambient sounds, which are mostly animal sounds from cows to birds to frogs. These vary from scene to scene, a nice touch. -If you play all the way through, be sure to read what happens to the characters after the end of the story - very funny.
I recommend this game!

I needed a game that was totally mindless, but not as repetitious as the usual match 3 game. Finding Doggy fit the bill perfectly. As you progress through the game, the bonus tiles are explained one at a time, making it easy to remember which is which. My only dissatisfaction with the game is that it doesn't work with a touch screen, but I don't expect older games to always work with one. Note: I didn't rate the sound quality because I turn off the sound on all games so that I don't bother my husband.
I recommend this game!

Victorian England?!?! How could they get this wrong?

In the Big Fish teaser/ad for this game it says that this is set in Victorian England. How did someone get this wrong? Jane Austen died 20 years before Victoria became Queen, so Pride & Prejudice could not possibly be set in Victorian England. In fact, it's set in the English Regency (which lasted from 1811 to 1820).
The drawings for the game were beautiful and generally accurate to the time period. I like hand-drawn artwork in games, so this could have swayed me. However, I found the game play frustrating.
The search & find silhouettes were hard to recognize, especially because the 'Parts' screen automatically disappeared from view. That meant I had to keep clicking on 'Parts,' then trying to find a piece from memory.. After 15 minutes, I'd had enough.
If you want a good game based on a classic novel, try Murders in the Rue Morgue or The Great Gatsby. Both are far, far better than this one.
