Compared to previous Midnight Mysteries games, this one doesn't really measure up at all. Graphics, storyline, sound effects are all like bad imitations of the first four games. They've shuffled the series off to a new developer partner and it shows. There are millions of mini games, a few clovers to collect and a half-hearted storyline that makes little sense and has next to no detail. The HOGs are basic interaction type.
I don't recommend this one, even with the sale. If you haven't played the first four then you are in for a feast of good games no matter which one you choose.
Orphan Evy wakes to find herself in a fairytale kingdom under threat from an evil witch. Help her save the magic kingdom with Marble Popping puzzle duels.
This has an excellent level of challenge, with the levels getting progressively harder as you move through the game, The storyline is well thought out and more detailed than most games of this type. This is a battling game, where you fight various strange opponents. The balance of their skills to yours is good, and at each battle you collect coins and crystals that allow you to upgrade your skills. The allies you meet along the way are equally odd but fun. The whole game has an Alice in Wonderland feel, and dialogue can be clicked through. The drawbacks are no widescreen on my laptop and no voiceovers. I bought the game and there appears to be a huge number of levels as well. All in all this is one of the better marble games out there and definitely worth a look.
The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.
Its better than 13th Skull, which wasn't very good, but it is more movie and less game in a lot of ways. The cutscenes are extensive and well-done, as are the visuals and sounds. There are also some uber-creepy moments in this game. That said, its adventure lite with a few hidden object scenes and a lot of picture matching. Pros: visuals, voice-overs, sounds, storyline Cons: Strategy guide, which is truly awful and made me glad I don't often need a guide; minimal puzzles, which were overall easy; too much repetition of matching pictures and "readings" puzzles, and overall level of challenge, which was low. The "bonus" extras are negligible, and not worth the extra money. All in all, this was a decent game but nothing spectacular. Lea Thompson was very fun as the psychic and definitely added some uniqueness to a pretty standard game.
I'd recommend the regular edition, since the reasons for buying the collector's edition aren't really there, and probably not for expert gamers.
As someone else said, I think this is the first game we've seen from this developer, and they did a good job with it. The graphics, music, and technical parts of the game play are all very well done. Its adventure lite, mixed with some hidden object and association scenes, and these I thought were fairly clear, although I had some issues with the association scenes.
The storyline is a bit weak, not as enthralling as I would have preferred, and leaves questions unanswered. I think it may be the weakest part of the game. There also is no map.
The game is fairly short, under 4 hrs for me, which is too short for a CE in my opinion.
All in all, its a very good first outing for this developer, though I would recommend waiting for the SE unless you are really into the bonus content, wallpapers, etc.
I was excited to see this game because I have all the others in this series, and loved playing them. Visually, this one doesn't disappoint. The graphics are beautiful, although the fragmented items can be very small. The soundtrack is good, the voiceovers are well done, and the strategy guide and map are well laid out. The story, however, doesn't seem very well thought out, and didn't hold my interest. I played the entire game, and can honestly say it pales in comparison to the others. For me, it was very short and the level of challenge was minimal. I would recommend it to newer players or to those looking for a less difficult adventure game.

This was similar to the first one, with an interesting storyline, great graphics, ability to change modes of play, which is a great option, and nice music. Unfortuinately, the game board floats around the whole time you are playing the level. I'm guessing that this was developed to make the game more challenging, but in my case it just made me seasick :(
Definitely give the game a try because it has a lot of pros, but the one con did it for me and I won't be buying.
This is a nice, easy, extremely linear game. Visuals, puzzles, storyline are all well done. Its adventure lite, but it is way too short, and so I could only give it 3 stars. Honestly, I would recommend waiting until you have a punch, or its a Daily Deal to purchase it.
Houdini's the latest additon to the Midnight Mysteries Series, and while it wasn't my favorite of the series, the game doesn't disappoint. Pros: excellent graphics and atmosphere, good puzzles, clear HOS scenes, integrated (and excellent) strategy guide.
Cons: Sketchy storyline, some weird game mechanics, and level of challenge less consistent than in previous games.
I really felt like this one did not have the story to it that some of the others have had, which made it less intuitive to know what to do next.
Overall, I would say this is definitely one to try and a pretty good additon to the series.
I really liked the first Fear For Sale, but this one wasn't as good. I found the story line more silly than scary at times, and the game just seemed less polished and more rushed.
Pros: mechanics-game ran well without bugs or glitches
Cons: graphics quality, game length, which seemed shorter than previous Fear For Sale, storyline, ending which seemed arbitrary and rushed
Good for a rainy day off, maybe, but better games have come out recently.

Exquisite graphics, interesting puzzles so far, and beautiful music. It does have to load between scenes at some points but the level of detail made this a minor issue to me this time.
Hidden Object Scenes are intricate but doable, and it appears to be a pretty even mix of adventure and HO scenes.
