I'm scratching my head. After reading the reviews, I read the negative feedback but the pictures were too enticing leaving me to wonder if the reviewers may have had too high of expectations for this. Could it be that bad? Yes.
Didn't take long to realize the reviewers had good reason to rate this so poorly. It's unfortunate because it really has great potential. I think the developers used the old arcade pinball game machine as an example of what they wanted to create and they inserted a golf game concept into a pinball arcade game... I think. I loved playing mini-golf when they were popular.
In this, you click your mouse and hold it as you aim where you want the golf ball to go, then release the mouse and watch as the golf ball either rolls an inch or flies across depending on how long you held your mouse in a pre-launch position. The longer you hold it (or like pinball--pull the pole further back), the further the ball goes. Not a bad idea, really.
Problem is... the developers weren't thinking very clear. Rather than the game being played in a realistic, outdoor setting, you're indoors, playing on top of a 'virtual' table, in a 'virtual' room. Consequently, if the golf ball ends up with too much power and overshoots the green that is sitting on top of the virtual table, the ball will end up on the "virtual" floor. [Face-palm.] Developers, rather than create a virtual floor in a virtual room, why not develop the game with realistic boundaries that allow the golf ball to land in, such as a sand trap or a pond? I don't get it. I just know that I didn't like it... AT ALL. I probably would have enjoyed it, however, if it were set in a realistic situation.
I'm still scratching my head trying to understand how BF ever agreed to release this to the public.
I've been playing HOGS for years and cannot for the life of me figure this out. The hint button is unlike the other HOG games. You're supposed to place the inventory item over the hint button. Even then, it's worthless. I got stuck and could not figure out what the next step was. The game doesn't give any indication. It's sheer guesswork. You're supposed to use the goal button yet that's worthless. If stuck, don't expect help from the game to direct or guide you. What a waste of time. Horrible.
This has potential to be an addictive and fun game but it falls short--big time. It starts out fun like you're bowling. There's much more to this than just bowling.
This is as much of a pinball game strategy as bowling, maybe even more so. The goal of course, is to knock down the different colored pins using the same colored bowling ball. It's fun in the beginning, until I began to advance.
There are other parts and strategies to the game that are similar to pinball and as the game progresses, the ante is upped. For example, the bowling alley gets shortened.
The game isn't just about good aim but how to strategize around the obstacles that crop up with increasing frequency as the game progresses.
One aspect that I found fun had pins being parachuted down onto the bowling lane in strategic places, adding to the number that needed to be knocked down.
The developer also added different deterrents to prevent the player from succeeding in knocking down the pins. I thought of this as pinball bumpers or stoppers that look like paper airplanes or possibly crumpled up paper. (Still can't figure out what they were.)
I personally feel that the idea and title of the game was a bit deceptive for obvious reasons and went into it thinking it was strictly bowling. Um... not quite.
It had challenges that made it frustrating where I wanted to quit early. I didn't because I wanted to give it a fair shot and finish out the trial.
I don't think it's worth buying. But as usual, the only way to know if you'll like it is to download the trial.
As stated, I felt that this has great potential if the developer had kept it as a bowling game with some challenging parts but the developer added too much pinball game ideas that ruined it for me and made it into more of a pinball bowling game.
I love the clutter games so when I saw this, I thought it would be like the others but with a Christmas theme. This is an entirely different game that is nothing like the regular clutter games. It's also a timed game that continually keeps reshuffling and is anything but enjoyable. Sorry but I can't recommend.
I was so excited when I saw this available. It's been a long time since the last Agatha Christie game was released.
Unfortunately, my enthusiasm didn't last long. The graphics reminded me of when cartoons went from the hand-designed quality to the computerized, robotic design. Simply awful. Once you've had quality, anything that is less is bound to disappoint. But I wanted to give it a fair shot so I patiently waited as the game intro played out. Once the first scene was reached with the three talking, the player was supposed to find a clue on the man's suit. Interaction was needed to find a "clue" but despite following the instructions, nothing happened. I checked the help and rechecked it but nothing happened. I've played HOGs for years but this was a real disappointment. It seems that the latest HOGs are subpar, if that. It's really unfortunate. My personal opinion is don't waste your time.
Not only boring but the moment a match 3 game came up, the game froze. I'm encountering this more and more with these games and don't know what to make of it. I have W10 and enough memory so I remain bewildered. Ultimately, this was worthless and I couldn't even make it past the FIRST match 3. What a waste.
I'm a proofreader and still found this frustrating

I'm a proofreader by profession and am pretty good at spotting differences, whether it's letters or photos. Plus, I thoroughly enjoy spotting differences. Therefore, I thought this would be fun. Well, as it turned out, I'm glad I played the trial because it isn't at all fun.
Part of the problem lies with the defaulted time-frame that they've programmed to spot the differences in each picture. It was SHORT. Much too short and the developers should have provided the player the chance to change the time in the options.
As for the sound(s)... thankfully, that can be muted. The buzzing is awful. It would also have been better if the developers had chosen a pleasant, satisfying audio and skipped the buzzing. I don't think this is worth the money or the time.
Twice, I tried to play the trial game. And twice, I ended up having to turn off the computer at the power source because a warm boot wouldn't work. This game has problems. Hope that the developer can figure out what causes the game to go black and remain stuck, forcing players to shut the computer down.
Based on the reviews that I read, I honestly expected that I would enjoy this. Unfortunately not. This apparently isn't just an HO game. It also includes money management [which I don't particularly like]. Nevertheless, I played anyway. It went fine until I was down to two items left to find in the first scene. When I couldn't find either, I used the hint button, but in so doing, I ran out of money quickly. In the short time I played the trial, it appears that you use money to buy hint clicks. But the hint feature is very short and doesn't allow for much time to see where it's highlighting. I finally resorted to clicking in various areas which is a no-no in HOGs and didn't go over well with the game. I was subsequently warned numerous times that I would be penalized. Really? No kidding.
Suffice it to say, the hint highlighting is of little value because it only allows a short time to see the hinted area within a cluttered scene. May I suggest that the creators redo or find a better highlighting method than what they currently have. It's doesn't stay highlighted long enough.
I like to play games for fun, relaxation (and escape these days), not for frustration. Can't say that I recommend (or don't recommend) this game. Only by trying it will you know if you like it or not.
This game fascinated me. I liked the graphics and looked forward to the story but I didn't get very far. The typical question was asked if I wanted Tutorial Help. I clicked No. It asked another question which I replied no. It never accepted but kept asking over and over and over. I closed the game and restarted but encountered the same thing. Uninstalling. Developers need to look at that. Total waste of time!
