Review based one demo play time only:
There is a fire in Pontoon Laboratories where a Professor Goodwin (Who is Head of the Lab)is trying to discover a cure for all sorts of diseases. He had just made an announcement three days earlier that he thought he had found the cure all when - Poof! Dissapears in all the carnage!
Yes again, we are an investigator assigned to to find out what happened at Pontoon.
Once you arrive you are met by the sister of one of Dr. Goodwin's patients he was helping, so she volunteers in any way she can to help.
Now the need to know information:
1.) 3 Play Modes- Normal, Hard and Detective
2.) The music is classically orchestrated.
3.) The Voice overs are crisp and clear. The Intro seems very realistic.
4.) Movement is a bit stiff
5.) We are given a case file with sections for evidence, a map, tasks, a diary and finally, a summary.
6.) * You do get to collect green radiations spots that have leaked from the explosion ( a little plus) and all 8 of Dr, Goodwin's awards.
7.) My biggest disapointment that thus far I haven't found and interactive HOS game!
As a parting small cliffhanger - once you get inside of the gates of The Lab grounds you are met by a hideous creature! So now, the rest of the story line is up to you fellow fishies!
If by now your interest has been a bit peaked, try the demo and remember you can use your punch card on the game before it expires!
Well time's up. Have fun investigating!
I recommend this game!

Unbelievable! Two Really enjoyable SE games in the same week, worthy enough for me to get up early with the chickens to write something.
Yes, this is another one of the "Dreamscapes" series. Maybe a little young, but still scenes that might frighten the "little ones".
You have your traditional game play info: 2 game play modes- Casual and Expert, Nice voiceovers, so not a bunch of reading. Graphics are a little amateurish but very bright and visible.
Story starts in a sleep clinic where your niece Emma hasn't been able to come out of her deep sleep and her tending dream specialist doctor asks you if you would be willing to enter into her dreams to see if you can help pull her "out of it".
As you start your journey you realize that Emma's condition" is due to some terrifying fears, so it's your job to help her overcome them ( along with the help of a cute teddy bear)
The Hos games are interactive and not cluttered (which I love) the mini games are fairly standard. You are also given a transport map and the hint button is an arrow pointing you along ( which you really don't need with the map)
Thus your journey begins through the boogie man under the bed syndrome to a spider forest, etc.
I have always loved dream/ mind searching HOPA'S Although not many bells and whistles, I found fun and pure entertainment during the demo and decided to scoop up on the special sale price!
If you are strictly Expert mode (Nilosh)and need lots of challenge, maybe this one is not for you. However, I feel anyone with even a peaked interest in dream games to at least try the free demo. What's to lose but a few minutes of your day? Enjoy!!
I recommend this game!

I was fortunate enough to play the beta version of this game and I must disagree with the rest of the reviewers thus far!
This SE HOPA game I thought brings a refreshing different and diverse fun factor to to the less than impressive SE games that I have tried lately!
There are three game play modes. You are the newest member assigned to a large and specialized team of professionals that play their own individual roles in the storyline/gameplay. There is actually voice overs and really nice and creative graphics. You also get a ghost meter to detect paranormal activity in specific areas.
I liked the interactive HOS games and puzzles. Maybe the expert players would get bored, but I too have been playing for a while and have been chomping at the bit to use my promo cards on something that I actually enjoy than out of necessity because they are about to expire!!
I too, have not followed this series, however I really enjoy a good who-dun-it and I feel that this particular SE has a lot more to do than any others in a while.
In summation, I truly wish that everyone whose a slight bit tired of water, island and era pieces and doesn't need immense challenge to have fun to give it a try. Enjoy!!
I recommend this game!

Wow!! I almost missed this dynamite SE- that plays very much like a CE HOPA game!
You are given 4 gameplay modes:
* Casual
* Normal
* Hard
* Professional
Graphic are bright, colorful and real actors are used in cutscenes!
Game's opening scene begins with a lab tech or scientist drafting a schematic of combining plants, electricity and a man. He has a chamber which it shows him flipping the switch to- then BAM- cut to a police car radio announcing the town's turmoil, fires and immediate evacuation. You are there and witness two children trapped in a two-story building. They throw down a sheet-rope but alas the ( I will refer to him as electro-man) appears, burns down the rope and takes off with the children.
Needless to say it's up to you to save them.
This game offers so much to do:
* Achievements for your accomplishments
* Collectible exotic plants
* Earn game money to build up your own garden with different objects and plants
* HOS scenes are interactive and connective to each other in some ways (FUN!)
* Mini games (not my forte really) appear common with a bit of a twist, at least in appearance.
Overall, I am so SHOCKED (lol) and happy to FINALLY get a hold of a very fun and unique SE game. Bought it immediately. Try it. I think you'll have fun!!
I recommend this game!

I haven't written a review in a while, even though there have been a couple of games worthy of mention. I am not going to add anything else to what Nilosh said, because he wrapped this game up in a nutshell.
If anyone has even a little trouble with cluttered miniature HOS scenes/objects then eyes BEWARE! Have your reading glasses or magnifying glass handy. I, like Nilosh, enjoy stories of the occult and am getting extremely tired of time period pieces, ice covered all white scenery games and island and ship themes that anything out of those genres peaks my interest. Plus I could have gotten this game with a promo code. But no such luck. I fought to stay awake from pure boredom. I have never totally dogged a game like I am today. If this game allows anyone pleasure from playing it hooray...but it won't be me. Truly SAD!!
I don't recommend this game.

Well finally a fun SE that I purchased halfway through the demo because of it's uniqueness.
You are a detective that deals with the supernatural and you receive a frantic phone call from your long time friend Helen, who is a reporter covering an annual Serpeant Festival in a small town named Serpeant Creek.She needs your help- so off you go.
You have 3 playing modes to choose from- Casual, Advanced and Expert.
You also have a journal that you keep track of the people involved in your case. your clues and objectives.
The music is creepy and daunting. The graphics are good but cartoonish in a fun way.
Ambiance also creepy with lots of thunder.
Upon your arrival you encounter a snakelike being! You also find a warning note to Do Not Drink the Black Mamba! But there are barrels of it in town. The towns folk are walking around slow and zombie-like and talk the same but add a hiss to that.
My favorite part was when I am starting to look around and I had to find all the clues in an area, deduce a conclusion from them and in this case I stumbled upon a dead body, that is the co-worker of your friend! This is just fun with a variety of things to do. I like this game a lot. Have fun...SSSSSSSS!
I recommend this game!

Wow I got involved in this game right at the start! How nice. First of all , the opening scene has the storyteller- female whose husband "Alan", ventures off into the "Dark Forest" that's outside their town, in an attempt to lift their town's curse. Against Alan's wishes, his wife follows him armed with their family's amulet- an ancient relic that blesses them with the power of light- and entered the forest, too. Monstrous trees soon attack her. She uses her amulet until it ran out of light and she had to go back home to recharge. Suddenly, their lighthouse explodes and you #the game player# are now informed that light is what keeps your town safe from the evil forest! So now your mission is to fix the light house ASAP- or no more Home Sweet Home #so to speak:#
"Child of the Forest" offers you 4 game play modes: 1.# Casual, 2.) Experienced, 3.) Masterful, and 4.) Custom- where you can set all your game difficulty options according to your likes and skills.
There are some awesome and creepy graphics and they truly put you into an animated world of spooky realism!
The background ambient sounds resonate through your bones!
Extras include your standard strategy guide with 5 chapters and a Bonus Chapter, Achievements #Collect 34 acorns# , and a "Huge" Surprise at the very end!!
The hint button #my best friend...lol# recharges quickly, there is a journal that feeds you the story throughout the game.
There are different and kind of new to me styles of the HOP games.
The graphics are so bright and bold, clear to see throughout. Looking forward to getting on with playing this one. Love it so far!
I recommend this game!

WOW!! What a fun, jam packed game we got
today!
You're a famous journalist who works for Fear for Sale magazine. You receive a call from Lily, the wife of one of your co-workers who knows of your stellar reputation. She has a bizarre story to tell you and asks you to record it just in case anything happens to her. She explains that she and her husband Adam had received an invitation and tickets to a premiere of a movie at a theater that had been closed down for years. Lily herself didn't want to go but Adam did. He has not been seen or heard from since. Just today she receives another ticket to another premiere and gives you the ticket to go and see what you can find out. You see a poster advertising the World Premiere Lily tells you about and it comes to life! A huge, scary anglerfish hiding behind the cinema lures some smaller fishes into a trap! Now you wonder if there's a correlation? You go to the cinema and hand your ticket to the Grim Reaper's Twin! Your ticket goes up in flames and the cinema's doors slam shut! So off we go to investigate.
This game offers you everything! There are 4 different volume controls, 4 game play modes- Casual, Normal, Hard and Custom.
You also have to find collectibles and 66 morphing objects! You get a diary for all your notes, your integrated strategy guide and a map that not only shows you where your objectives are but transports as well.
The music is totally conducive to the scene you're in. Lilty for just looking around and dark and ominous for the scarier scenes.
The graphics and cut scenes are so wonderfully done that I immediately became immersed in being in the story.
Mini-games new but for me hard. But I am strictly a HOS girl. I am pretty sure that the majority of the players would love this aspect!
And speaking of the HOS scenes. They are extremely clear and interactive, but if you don't want to play the HOS games you can play a jigsaw puzzle instead!
One more thing I feel important for any doubters, the hint button fills up fast! !LOL! This game is definitely a keeper!
I recommend this game!

Only the bad witch knows the answer to that question!
You and your daughter are driving when suddenly a raven hits your windshield, causing you to go off the road. Lucky for you " or so you think" off in the distance, through the fog, is an inviting looking cabin.
Upon your arrival you are invited in for some nice hot "and spiked" tea! When you come to you are now outside of the cabin and your daughter has been kidnapped!
Now for your basic info: there are only 2 game play modes. but let's us remember that this is a standard edition game.
The music is very spooky and creepy and can literally send chills up your spine.
There are no voice overs so you do have to read the conversations.
Personally I found the graphics just fine for this game- well suited.
The hidden object scenes are packed full. Almost too much and are interactive. No map or bells and whistles. Just some good old-fashioned game playing!
So far I am happy with my game that I got here at the end of the month "and my funds are just about spent" lol! I got to get this game with a promo code. Those are sometimes the best ones!!
Now, it's off to finding what that old hag did with my daughter.
Hope you have fun too!
I recommend this game!

Well happy days aren't quite here for me yet. We have another inherited estate with issues game. Of course there's a bit of a twist, but still the same when I saw a new Hidden Object CE, I got excited, but as has been with all the ones#FOR THE MOST PART# IN THE PAST MONTH OR SO, THERE HASN'T BEEN $14.00 WORTH OF BANG!
The game starts out with you being an expert about dealing with things in the dark. A woman has inherited an estate on a remote island in Greece and requests your assistance because she is hearing strange things coming from her basement/crypt at night when it is dark. When you arrive, she takes you down to the crypt to show you and there's a coffin that's moving around like something's trying to get out! While trying to open the coffin, you accidently break a lamp and something bad escapes from the coffin, mumbles something about the eclipse and disappears. POOF! Hostess and all!!
You are given your usual three gameplays- Regular, Advanced and Hardcore. I do want to say that the music is orchestrated wonderfully to suit the ambience of the "dark": You are provided with a journal to record all special game actions and events. Also an integrated strategy guide. No map or bells and whistles# morphing objects, achievements, or collections#
Right off the bat you are given a very basic mini game to play and you know, this really is just a very graphically beautiful and realistic SE HOPA.
There is a nice special with the purchase of this game, where you can get the other two games in this series for only $2.99. However, I already own both, so I guess I will be saving my dimes and nickels for the SE. Because this game is nice, just too much $ for what you get.
I recommend this game!
