I love time management games, however am very disgusted with the rash of games released lately where you need a magnifying glass to see the objects you need to collect. The majority of the screen is wasted on empty space with tiny characters running around completing tasks. Additionally I had to lower the resolution on my computer screen to even start the game. Would not even buy a SE version of this game let alone a CE.
Didn't last more than one level on this game. The board is so dark and busy that it is very tough to differentiate between jewels. Color are very muted. Almost impossible to distinguish what squares are needed to be collected to finish the level.
Emily's back with husband and baby in tow. In the 10th (I think) installment of this game series, Emily's back in her home restaurant trying to restart the business after getting married and having a baby. However, she doesn't want to give up time with her baby while trying to run her restaurant. So she brings Paige with her. This adds a fun new twist as, along with regular game play, you now need to keep Paige happy so she doesn't disturb the customers.
All the regulars are back, game play is the same: fulfill customer orders and keep everyone happy. The challenges are back as well which could be finding objects hidden around the restaurant, cleaning up spills, accepting deliverys, etc.
The collectors edition also includes trophies to win, pictures to collect and a bonus restaurant level. Sound and picture quality are on par with the previous editions of this game (which I hope BigFish will offer soon).
Not sure what era they dragged this game out of, but guessing it was the '80s. The point of the game is to fill orders by matching items on the game board. Instructions are ok and maybe additional ones would have appeared to help fill out the blanks, however, after the first level I couldn't stand to play any longer and deleted game. I found the game play very clunky and it could not keep pace with my clicks.
I was excited when I checked the "new releases" page and saw Farm Frenzy 4 as this series is my ultimate favorite games. I have replayed all the originals numerous times. I even liked the Gone Fishing game which most found way too hard. So imagine my shock and disappointment when I started playing this game. My unease started right off the bat when I didn't notice the Melesta tag in the open developers sequence. (not a big deal, maybe they changed their logo). The unease grew when I was asked to select a child character and an adult character. (ok Scarlet's gone, but I've waited a long time for this game so just go with it). Following that was a very juvenile, cartoony video introducing some additional characters in the game and setting up the game play......which proved the ultimate disappointment. Beginning TM players or those under 10 might like this new game, however, those of us who played and loved the originals will be severely disappointed. There was zero challenge in the 30 mins I played....I achieved a gold rank on every level, most times well before the time limit (like 1:35 for a 6 min level!!!). I could not even finish the demo. I will give kudos for the new aspects like clicking on owls and butterflys to fill a bonus meter...and the moles are a new concept. However, this could not make up for the extreme let-down I felt with this game.
This review is based on the trial. This is a fun road building type of game. You need to rebuild your family fortunes by searching for gold in Alaska. There are two game modes: timed and relaxed. I only played the timed version. You get stars for finishing levels in gold, silver or bronze and can use these stars to buy upgrades to your town. Game play is standard, you need to collect wood, food and gold to patch the roads and build gold mines. I had to restart levels a couple times in order to get gold, so there is some challenge to the game which is nice for the time management lovers out there.
I love time management games, so was trilled with a new Rescue Team. Instead of just rescuing buildings and people, you also have to rescue wildlife, collect flowers, etc. Which adds some challenge to levels.
The one negative I have is the game mechanics are clunky. I had to click multiple times in order to checkmark a move, even though the circle was green around an action. Could see this being extremely frustrating when the levels get harder.
