It took a while to get through the tutorial when I played the demo. There was so much to read that I thought I'd never get it. But once you start to play it falls into place. There's more to the 1-up, 1-down solitaire that makes it fun. Plenty of wild cards and bonus cards! The hidden object searches are interesting but not too hard. It's a very clever game and a lot of fun.
I recommend this game!

This game would not install for me. It took forever; installed C++ twice, had to restart my computer. Repeat. After a half hour of fiddling around it finally stated that installation failed so I deleted it.

This game is addictive. I played Hidden Object games for a long time. I got tired of them and now I can't stop playing this. It's challenging yet relaxing because it isn't timed, but I wish there were scores or goals to beat to make it more interesting.
I recommend this game!

When I see a game based on a fairy tale or a fantasy-type game with fairies, gnomes, elves, etc., I'm eager to play it. This one was disappointing. I don't even know how to describe the graphics - old style, maybe? Just not appealing. It took me so long to figure out what I was supposed to be doing that I lost interest. Yes, I used the tutorial but it only covered the usual, not this different type of play. Some objects were clear, some so hard to see that I'd find it by accident. All of a sudden I'd have an inventory item I didn't even know I'd found. I tend to keep notes as to what I need to find and where to use it, but the gameplay was so confusing that it was a waste of time. Maybe it's just me but I found this game frustrating rather than fun. I quit the trial with time left. I gave it 2 stars for the developers' effort but needless to say I would not recommend it.
I don't recommend this game.

It's been a while since I played this game, but going by my copious notes, I doubt that I'll ever want to play it again. Take my word for it, you will need to keep notes to get through it.
This will seem crazy to some, but for me the game was too long! I'm not one to abandon a game I've paid for, but I couldn't wait to be done. On the plus side, there was lot to do and a pretty good hint system. On the negative, repeated HOS, some with tiny objects, repeated puzzles, fuzzy or faded graphics, too much running back and forth and too much inventory piled up cancelled out any good points. No map made it all the more tedious. This is just my opinion among many, but be forewarned.
I don't recommend this game.

This is one of those many games that hooks me in with the demo, but gets annoying and frustrating as it moves on. I liked the demo because it seemed to have some different things to do that were fun. There was that, but as the game progressed I got frustrated with unclear instructions for some puzzles. Most also have a hint button but in many cases it wasn't much, if any, help and I had to check the walkthrough just to get a clue. In some cases even the walkthrough gave only the same instruction with a picture of the result, but no actual directions as to how to get there.
It was sometimes hard to use an inventory item because it took multiple clicks, and I mean multiple, for it to grab and work. Again I found myself checking the walkthrough, thinking I must have missed a step or was doing something wrong.
I encountered what seemed to be a glitch and had to start over with a new profile. I won't go into that here but I did post about it in the forum.
All in all, the game does have it's good points and it can be enjoyable. Maybe it's just me, but by halfway through it I just wanted to be done and move on to something else.

I say I enjoyed this game right to the end because with so many I get to the point where they get so far-fetched that I lose interest either out of frustration or boredom and can't wait to finish.
This game is very well done and a pleasure to play. Each scene is nicely done with things to do, yet not so much that it's hard to remember what's where. I liked that each location has a name, i.e., smithy, dungeon, wheelhouse, passage... It's hard to keep notes when they are unlabeled.
I won't go into detail about points other reviewers have already covered. I really want to compliment the developers on the map and journal. Both were very helpful indeed!
The map design is not only easy to use and interactive, it indicates where something still needs to be done and where coins are still missing. The hint directs the player to the map location to be used next without giving too much away or saying the annoying "nothing else to do here."
This journal tells the story and also lists each task and checks it off when completed, saving the player from keeping copious, detailed notes. I find it a waste of time to use a journal when it merely repeats what I've already read.
These two features are probably the best I've seen in all my games. It made the game fun and interesting to play rather than a frustrating back and forth trek trying to make progress. I hope to see more like it.
I recommend this game!

I enjoyed this game for the most part. The fact that it has no demons, ghouls, vicious monsters and the like is a huge plus for me. Loved the goblin characters and their environment. The goblin fight behind the tavern made me laugh out loud! The storyline was cute, but I don't usually pay a lot of attention as most are too far-fetched. It is heavy on puzzles which I don't mind because it makes for a longer game. The hidden object scenes were very interactive, fun, and at times a bit challenging. I would have liked more.
My only snit has to do with the puzzles/mini-games. I appreciate that some puzzles are easy, some are harder, but some didn't even have clear instructions. I had to check the walkthrough several times only to find that it wasn't always clear either and I ended up skipping a few. Also, in some puzzles the pieces did not rotate easily; it would take several clicks just to get one rotation. This got to be frustrating and was the one thing that ruined my enjoyment. If it weren't for the puzzles I would give the game 5 stars.
The game flowed well otherwise. I'm one who doesn't like a lot of running back and forth, but I didn't find it excessive in this game. I only had to check the walkthrough as mentioned above and to figure out where I had missed an inventory item so I could complete the game.
All that considered, I recommend the game, but beware of those puzzles!
I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed playing this game. It was nice to have a game that stuck to the storyline, one with a little creepiness that didn't go off on tangents with far-fetched fantasy creatures jumping you at every turn, crazy time travel and mechanical repairs to do. I don't understand why some reviews say it seems like a first effort. I thought it was well done except for a few cons mentioned below.
My Pros:
- Very nice artwork that fitted the storyline
- Good voice-overs, interesting characters
- Great hint system that functioned as a strategy guide and a mere hint in the HOS
- Inventory items were generally used quickly. I find it annoying when I have a huge inventory that I have to scroll through
- There was some moving around but it was logical. Each segment of the story had only a few scenes that were easy to find
- Clear tasks and mostly fun puzzles and games
My Cons:
- There was a lot of dialogue but it made the story flow. I didn't mind it as much in this game as I do in others
- Some hidden objects were a little too well blended and hard to see
- Swap-the-tile puzzles that rotated and moved were just plain weird. I couldn't make sense of them and gave up.
- Boxes with items to be picked up didn't close automatically. Some still sparkled after the item had been picked up and there was nothing left to do there later
- The map was nice but not especially needed since locations were easy to find. I wish I could say that about other games.
I liked this game. Some may find it not challenging enough but it was relaxing and fun for me.
I recommend this game!

I like this game. The gameplay is fun, there is some interactivity, and finding items by a definition or description adds to the challenge. The downside for me is that it is SO slow to load scenes and the graphics are poor. Blurry? Fuzzy? Whatever it is, when I have to use a magnifier to find items, it's a no-buy for me.
I would recommend it for the fun factor though, so try it for yourself.
