Wow, I cannot believe all the positive reviews. First, I found this game to be a little short for a CE. Second, the story line was dull. I could not get into it. Your "sidekick" Francis Drake was annoying. Very few morphing objects. There were words to find in each scene which a monkey could have found. The graphics were also nothing special. Don't waste you money or time.
It has been a LONG time since I have submitted a review, much less a positive one that I would actually give 5 stars. I have been pretty much disappointed by just about all of the games being released lately....but not this one! I will admit I wasn't expecting much, but this was a refreshing storyline. You are a detective hired to provide personal security for a scientist when everything goes awry. Yeah, I know, doesn't sound original, but the way Elephant Games played this one out it was far from the usual boring stuff. The VO were extremely well done. Often I am disappointed by VO as many of the voices either do not suit the character, are overly acted, or just plain annoying. All of the VO were well suited to the characters and the actors got into the character voices in a believable way. The spooky feel of the game was well done with excellent graphics. I generally buy the CE for the collectables, morphing objects, etc and rarely play the bonus game. This time I gave it a whirl and it was as entertaining as the game itself. It is a prequel where you are now the man who volunteered for the experiment. Both the game and the bonus chapter ended with me wanting, and hoping there will be, more. I really look forward to a possible sequel to this game.
I'm not sure what all the hype was about regarding this game. While the graphics are top notch, I found his game to be like all the other HOG, just a little different storyline (but not by much). There wasn't anything really original about this game at all. I played on the custom level and found the game to be fair as far as challenge (which I do not mind since I hate wandering aimlessly trying to figure out what to do next). If there had been something extraordinary about the game I would have probably given it at least 4 stars, but as a collectors edition, I expected more achievements than just finding 7 dolls and an owl in each scene (and I found all of both, so again not very challenging). At least the games with morphing objects give you a bit of a challenge. I got this game on sale, so I'm not too heartbroken over spending the money, but I would not recommend you pay full price for it.
Since there has been a HUGE lack of time management games released, not to mention any that are unique in nature, I decided to peruse through some older games. I came across this gem and after a few minutes of game play bought it immediately. This game may have a similar theme when comparing game titles in this genre, but it is far from any other "spa" themed game I have tried. First off, the graphics aren't too cartoon-like like they are in other games. The overall graphics are original and enjoyable to watch. The characters personalities are much like Diner Dash, etc. with some that are patient and others that are not. The different spa stations are a riot to watch the characters interact with (reminds me of Dance Craze, another excellent time management game that is definitely in a class of its own). There is a good level of challenge with some of the levels needing several tries to get the gold crown. Overall, if you want something different from the same old time management games packaged under different titles, then you will love this game.
This game is a good brain challenge. You need to make words out of the pictures and letters presented. It really gives your brain a workout as you try to decipher exactly what the pictures represent. At first you are only shown the pictures. Once you make a word using a certain picture you are then given the word that represents it (i.e. one picture had a woman bandaging another person which stood for "aid"). Lots of fun. If you want something to challenge your brain, this game will definitely do that.
While I thought this was a cute game, I really don't like time management games that you cannot que up tasks. In this game, you must wait for the character to return to the house before you can que up the next task.
I was looking for something different from the usual HOG and time management games. This game definitely fits the bill. It becomes addicting as you try to exceed the customer's expectations and try to figure out exactly what they are looking for. If you are looking form something entertaining that is different, then this game will not disappoint.
I purchased this game based on other reviews and boy was that a mistake. I found this game to be so boring that I couldn't even finish it. You are constantly going between about 3-4 different scenes. I couldn't get into the storyline. Don't waste you're time on the trial.
There are some changes from the first game. The ones I like the most is the ability to know if you have completed a perfect game and you no longer have to have combos to get a higher score. The one change I do not like are the new mini games. While they were rather annoying in the first game, the new ones are worse, specifically the flower and food games which are silhouettes. I wish they would develop the game to be like Operation Mania, where after a certain point in the game, you can choose to complete the mini games or not. It gets annoying to be interrupted by a mini game when you are in your groove cuing up tasks.
Over and over the same nightmare is following you: your sister Anna is trapped in a strange existence, begging you to help her escape. But what if these are not just random nightmares?
I couldn't even finish the game I was so bored. Some of the HOS were so dark that even with my monitor at full brightness, I had trouble seeing some of the objects. The music was annoying. There really did not need to be a sound with every move (there was this annoying swooshing sound with every mouse click). I ended up turning off the sound which made the game even more boring. The storyline was unimaginative. The HOS were a mix of interactive, except the interactive objects were not in a different color, so you had to scroll all over the screen to find them. I will admit I am a little biased on HOS like this because I do not like them. I don't need an added challenge to the HOS. Some of the HOS were the type where you were given the shadow of the object to find, and again, you had to find certain objects to interact with other objects to complete the HOS. I also hate HOS like that. This game was definitely not for me.
