...if you love achievements. You will get an achievement if you play through the demo without any hints.
Other than that, Mad Head Games has put out another great story to the Nevertales series. This one is definitely unique in the way that you are able to change how the story is written. That is pretty cool.
You have a little robotic helper, and you do have to fix him from time to time. However, unlike many of the other helpers that games offer, this one doesn't sit on the side waiting to be called; rather, he follows you every where you go.
As far as the story goes, you have to save your boyfriend's soul from his mentor. However, neither may be who they seem and it's up to you to decide who's good and who's not.
If you're familiar with Mad Head Games, then you already know that they are tops as far as visual and sound quality goes, plus their games are loaded with extras, such as morphing items, collectibles, extra games (aside from the bonus game), and the usual HUGE hidden object puzzle at the end.
I will admit that I've only played through the demo before purchasing the game. I got through the demo in less than an hour, so that tells me that the game itself is probably about 4 hours or less for the main game, with about an hour for the bonus, which seems to be usual for Mad Head.
Over all, I highly recommend this game. Even if you've never played any of the previous games in the Nevertales series, you don't need to because this game is it's own story.
I recommend this game!

This particular game is recommended for fans of medical dramas (like Grey's Anatomy), fans of the Delicious series featuring Emily, and fans of time management games in general.
Yes, the game may be short for some (there's only 25 levels), but it is a great introduction to the series, which will hopefully be continued. Although this is Season One, the developer does have a sequel called "Time to Heal" which you can get either on their website, or as a mobile game. The second game is longer and follows the more familiar pattern of the current Emily games.
But back to this first game.
First of all, I love how the game starts. You jump right into the game where you play Allison Heart. As she's driving on the freeway, she comes across the scene of an accident and helps the doctor with the patient. After her help, the doctor suggests she go into medical school, which she does, and she ends up interning at his hospital.
As an intern, you will work with 5 different doctors in 5 different locations including pediatrics, a medical lab, and a maternity ward.
Each department has a few minigames that you will play, such as resetting broken bones, finding a fetal heartbeat (which isn't easy sometimes), and bandaging up a child's cut. You even get to teach expectant mothers yoga moves. And, just as Emily had her mouse, you have to chase a runaway guinea pig. And yes, he runs. He doesn't just pop up.
You will receive achievements that will decorate Allison's office.
Now, as I mentioned before, this game is also recommended for fans of medical dramas. And that's exactly how this game is played out. You have Allison involved in a love triangle, and you also have a crusty old doctor who is bent on NOT retiring.
One word of advice, though. When you first start the game, do not play it in one sitting. I say that because after you quit the game and then go back into it, you are treated with an opening credits scene that introduces all of the characters just like a television show. I loved it. You can bypass it later after the game finishes loading, though. But I found it adorable and amusing. Also, I loved how the game starts in an active waiting room, and when you press play, all of the doctors line up so that you can choose which room to play. This game also features little Easter eggs to find in some of the rooms that represent past Emily games.
All-in-all, this game was a fun and challenging game. For me, the sound wasn't annoying, and the graphics were pretty good. They're not as crisp as what you see today, but considering the game itself is 6 years old, the graphics are pretty decent.
Again, I highly recommend this game.
I recommend this game!

I try not to review demos, but after playing the demo on this one, I wasn't excited to purchase the game.
As far as game play goes, it was challenging enough that I actually had to use a walkthrough a couple of times. The visuals were wonderful, as I've come to expect in most of today's games, and I really do enjoy the fact cards that you find.
However, by the time the demo ended, I wasn't really excited to continue the game because the storyline just didn't grab me. I mean, he demo ended with an explosion, and I truly didn't care to find out how I survived it.
What was more disappointing was that this game focused on Norse mythology. I haven't come across any game that focused on that particular subject so that's why I decided to try it out. But, the storyline failed to capture my interest in this wonderful subject.
That said, I would still recommend this game for anyone who enjoys Norse mythology as you may find it more exciting than I did.
I recommend this game!

I usually don't review demos, but I decided to review this one after playing it for 30 minutes. I own the original, and was on the fence about buying this game. I decided to purchase it because apparently, I'm a glutton for punishment.
This game is a sequel, but you needn't have played the first in order to play this one. At the start of the game, you are told a short story as to what happened over the years since you last left Green Moon.
What I loved about the beginning, though, is that if you did play the last game, you will immediately recognize where you are. Just like in the first one, there is a short tutorial and it mirrors the first one. You will perform a few of the same actions, but that's it. In this one, the house that you start off in reflects everything that you did in the first game. Remember the little mouse you caught in the kitchen (which is still buzzing with flies because apparently you haven't cleaned over the years)? The mouse trap is still in front of the mouse hole. The door you opened leading to the basement is still opened. And the sacks of coffee beans and sand that you cut open are still opened.
As you walk through the house, you are able to pick up everything whether you need it or not, because you will need it eventually at some point. However, your inventory isn't a just a panel with a few slots. It expands so that you can easily see everything that you are holding in one shot. So, instead of having to scroll through several items to combine the coffee beans with the mortar, just expand your inventory and combine the items you need very easily and quickly.
For those of you who like using hints (either often or occasionally), the hint system works pretty well. If you're looking for an item, there is a question mark next to that item. The hint directs you to the general location of the item so that you can find it on your own.
One thing that is different about this game is that it's pretty quiet. There is no monotonous music that you have to turn down. The soundtrack is minimal so that it doesn't take away from the game. Because I've only gotten through the first half hour of the game, I can't say for sure if there are any characters that you'll meet along the way. But if it's anything like it's predecessor, then there won't be too many people that you'll run into.
This game is a straight point-and-click adventure game with no hidden object scenes. It promises to be a long game, and I will admit that it took me the whole 30 minutes to get through the house and find everything that I needed to get to the moon. To put this into perspective, with most HO Games, you've usually completed the first couple of chapters of the game within the first hour of the demo. With this one, my adventure has yet to begin and I just made it to the moon.
Because of the level of challenge for this game, I wouldn't recommend it to those who like playing on casual levels. If you usually play your game on the expert modes, then this one is for you. This game makes you think, and you are mostly on your own. There is no strategy guide, so you have to use your brain and the hints if you get stuck.
If you love a challenge, this game is definitely for you.
I recommend this game!

I decided to try this game based on the reviews. And I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I played the game on Expert mode, which was completely different than the usual expert or hard modes you see these days. In this game, you had absolutely no help at all. And there were times where I wished I had activated the hint system. But, I persevered and finished the entire game. The one thing that helped me out a great deal was the jump map that always showed where actions needed to be done. What I didn't really like, though, were the sparkles on the HO scenes.
The game itself was pretty challenging, but not overtly difficult. It is mostly linear. There are times where you may come across an action to be done, but you won't have the necessary tools to perform that action until much later in the game.
The story isn't all too unique, but it's still a decent story. The characters look almost real, and there are voiceovers. However, I didn't think that the acting was the greatest, but it was decent enough.
What was unique was how the HO scenes are accessed. For example, you may enter a room, and it starts off as a hidden object scene. Then after you find the objects, you then replace some of them back where they belong. After that's done, and you receive whatever item you need, you are then able to explore the room. In one room, it started off as an HO scene, then it became a room to explore with a second HO scene in a corner.
All in all, I did enjoy this game and finished it within 2 days. It was, in my opinion, a fairly long game. I believe that if I sat through it, it would take me an entire day, not just a few hours, to complete.
I recommend this game for those who like a decent challenge.

I had originally chose this game because it seemed interesting, the reviews were positive, and I had a coupon code. The game was more than interesting.
You play Ben -- a man in search of his wife. He knows that something has happened when he sees her ghost beckoning him to follow her. He follows her through many areas that they both enjoyed during their relationship.
This game does include live acting, which I know many do not like. However, this time, the live actors do not deter from the game. Ben is telling his story, and you only see the live actor as he is moving from one scene to another. Once he reaches the scene, it is then computer generated.
The game is challenging, but not frustrating. Some of the mini-games may be easy to challenging depending on your own level of expertise with the puzzle. A walkthrough for this game is helpful, but not overly necessary. You can find both a well-written walkthrough and a YouTube video if you search for it.
This game does have collectibles and achievements that aren't too difficult to obtain. The audio and graphics are very well done. As far as the storyline goes, the ending left me a little misty-eyed. I have heard that there is a CE version of this game elsewhere, but the story for this SE wraps up very nicely and is complete.
I highly recommend this game, even if you don't care for live acting. The game is a great one.
I recommend this game!

Full Disclosure: I picked this up when the developer pre-released it on Amazon Mobile before it was fully released on their own website for everyone else except members. My review is based on game play only.
I have to admit that this game goes a little beyond the normal chapters of Emily's life that we've played so far. Little Paige (who is about 3 years old now) has come down with a mysterious illness that causes blue spots to appear on her face. The doctors are stumped, but her father seems to be the only one who believes there is a cure. The same cure that his grandfather discovered when he had the same illness. Of course, Emily and everyone else believes that was a fairy tale, but Patrick knows better and sets off on an adventure to cure his little girl.
The game play is pretty much the same as the later Emily games, in that you are serving drinks, food, and other items to customers. The twist is that you are not always playing Emily. You play a different character depending on the scene. For example, in the first chapter, Emily, Patrick, and Paige head to the beach where Emily's mother is serving everyone. And in the second chapter, Patrick is serving customers, and so forth.
There are 6 chapters with 10 levels and 5 bonus levels in each chapter. In the 7th chapter, there are 5 levels and 2 bonus levels. Each level contains a challenge to be met, and you will receive a gem if you succeed. The collected gems allow you to help Paige open up presents. And yes, you still have to find the mouse in each regular level.
Another great feature in this game is that you get to travel with Patrick. As he travels north, you'll help him serve customers in a lumber camp. Later, you'll follow him to an Inuit village and finally a monastery where monks serve their brethren. At times, you will also be back at home with Emily as she tries to take care of Paige, while serving customers in her backyard garden and Patrick's flower shop. The game itself can be challenging as you progress in some levels, while others you'll hit 3 stars with ease.
Because you are traveling, you will meet different character customers as well. However, on the side bar, if you pause the game during the level you are playing, there is a button marked customers. This will tell you which customers need to be served promptly and which can wait. The customers vary in each location.
As far as the story goes, there is some funny dialog between the characters as well as some sad moments. Towards the end of the first chapter, when Patrick declares that he is going on a mission to find a cure for his daughter, he takes on a hilarious hero's stance. Later, when Emily asks Francois to put chlorine into the pool, he puts some type of lime slush which turns it green and sweet smelling. Later, when Paige seems to get sicker, it really pulls at your heartstrings. This game really does well in trying to pull you into the story.
One thing that I did notice in this game is that whatever happened in the previous games is noted in this one as well. For example, if you played Home Sweet Home, you'll notice that the trophy's you earned to decorate Paige's room are still there. As you decorated the O'Malley home with gems, those items are still there as well. So the design hasn't changed from one game to the other. Also, you'll still see other characters from Emily's and Patrick's extended family that you met in previous games as well. That to me speaks volumes in terms of game continuity.
This is one game I definitely would recommend to Emily fans. And if you haven't played any of the Delicious games yet, you may want to after playing this game.
I recommend this game!

...or any night you want to be scared.
Ok, so I'm jumping on the 5-star bandwagon, but this game truly deserves it. I know lots of games tout the creepiness factor, but this game actually goes horror story level. For those of you who scare easily (like I do), this game will have you jumping out of your seats. It is truly a break from Mad Head's usual fantasy genre, but like all their games, they have kept the bar up high.
As usual with Mad Head games, this game is jam packed with CE goodies like collectibles, morphing objects, a bonus HOP, achievements, a bonus game, and a bonus chapter. Also, both the visual and audio aspects are top-notch. The game isn't extremely challenging, but it isn't extremely easy either. As far as where to go and what to do, it's pretty self-explanatory.
What I liked about Maze was the journal. Instead of a book opening up, there is a side bar that pops out and gives you your objectives and clues each time something is recorded. It's actually very helpful, especially since I usually am not a fan of having to open a book every time there is an objective. There is also a jump map that takes you from place to place, although I have to admit to only needing it a few times.
The most surprising factor for me was the uniqueness of the storyline. While you do start off in a maze, the whole game doesn't take place completely in the maze. Once you get out of it, you realize that you are actually asleep in a small town, and all of the citizens are also sleeping. Just when you think you are able to escape, you find that to be impossible. So, it's up to you to figure out what is going on so that you can finally leave. The story is completed in the main game, which is good for those who prefer the standard edition. In the CE, the bonus game ties in very well to the main game, as it is just an extension of the story.
This game does have voice acting. I have to admit that the voice acting, in my opinion, was pretty good. I like that the only high-pitched voice was the little girl, and even her voice didn't grate on your nerves. It seems that the devs lined up the perfect actors for the characters.
Overall, I highly recommend this game. This game is best played at night in the dark.

This is a great game, but the fun factor wasn't completely there for me. I actually had to force myself to finish the game because it just didn't draw me in like I was expecting. That being said...
I will admit that this could be a great game for vampire lovers. The game mechanics were different than what I was used to. For example, to get a hint or access the menu, you had to either click on the pink rose in the bottom left of your screen, or hover your mouse at the top of the screen.
The game was a bit challenging and I actually had to skip a couple of the minigames, which is something I never do. During the game, the hint system was pretty helpful for me. Given that there are no achievements or collectibles to worry about, I relied on the hint system when necessary.
The length of the game was decent. Although, I can't honestly say whether it was longer or shorter than many of the games I play, but I do know that the game didn't feel like it was dragging on.
There is dialog and voice overs, and I really liked the actress for the main character. I thought she played her part well, and she didn't sound flat or over the top.
The only thing I didn't like was the ending. This game ends on a cliffhanger and it begs for a sequel. I really hope the developers have one in the works. The game also begs for a prequel as well, because I would be interested in the main character's background as well.
Even though it did take me a while to get into the game, I did enjoy playing it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good vampire game.
I recommend this game!

I have played several of the Delicious games so far, and they seem to be getting bigger each time. This particular game is no different. It is packed like a CE, but priced for a SE. There are 92 levels in this game, achievements to win, mice to capture, pictures to take, and hearts to make golden.
In this game, Patrick and Emily are now on their honeymoon. Emily's brother-in-law bought a cruise ship with no staff. But that's okay, because Emily's and Patrick's friends and family are there to help out. While they are doing the majority of the work, Emily and Patrick get to relax and be catered to, at least most of the time.
As far as the storyline goes, each character has his/her own storyline that is integrated with everyone else's. Patrick wants to start a family, and Emily feels pressured. Francois wants to be king of the ship, but has to compete with a child. Angela wants to be a fashion designer, Emily's parents meet an old flame of Evelyn's, and Patrick's mother Brigid finds love.
The game play is fairly simple, and some may find it challenging, while others may not. It offers three levels of difficulty: easy, normal, and hard. The graphics are crisp and clean on my system and the music is the usual Delicious tune. This is a long game that will give you hours of play. For me, it took several days on and off to finish it, so I wouldn't recommend trying to get through it in one sitting.
I would definitely recommend this game for anyone who enjoys time management games.
