Although this game is mostly very difficult HO scenes, I persevered with it till the end.
It does have a story of sorts and leads to a sequel.
I’m not sure what got me about this game but once I started I couldn’t stop.
Even though the hint system does not work outside the HO Scenes, once you’re in a scene, HO or just normal, you cannot leave that scene until you have completed all the current tasks, which works like a hint system of sorts. In fact there facets of this game which are very clever.
It is also a very long game, and I must confess, I’m looking forward to the sequel

If you have never played this game and you enjoy adventures, this is the greatest adventure game you will ever play, this is the greatest adventure game available anywhere on any platform.
I have both the original Siberia I and II games, and of the 400 odd PC games I own, Siberia I and II have no equal, of the hundreds of PS1, PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360 games own, Siberia I and II still have no equal.
The story is beautiful, interesting and compelling. The game play which can occasionally be difficult is stunning and enthralling.
I will buy this game in it’s current BFG iteration, just to have the experience again.

I was very disappointed in this game. Lucky enough to buy the C/E version for $6.99, I though I had hit the jackpot.
Unfortunately I found the game tedious, the story line could have been good, but it was too fragmented.
Objects and items seemed to me to be inappropriate for their application and having to leave a HOG scene to find additional objects to complete the scene, just made me cross.
I was so bored I played the game almost from start to finish using the hint button.
Having said all that, the graphics, voice over’s, hint system and strategy guide were very good and it is a very long game maybe 7 or 8 hours even using the hint system regularly.
My favourite Elephant games are: Raincliffe C/E, Lost in the City 1 & 2, and Urban Legends the Maze.
I can only recommend this game to people who prefer HOG games to adventure games and don't mind using the hint button all the time.
This is a great game, even though there is only one mode of play where the HO scenes sparkle, and places of interest glint, it still keeps you on your toes from start to finish, without any hand holding.
This developer (Top Evidence) know how to keep you intrigued.
I really enjoy moving around large spooky homes with lots of rooms to explore and heaps of puzzles to solve. I didn’t use the SG at all because the hint system was sufficient, with out being intrusive.
I also liked that the developers remained faithful to the period, if you were looking for a ‘plane’ in a HO scene, it was one of the wood paring variety, not the flying kind and a ‘torch’ had a flame not a battery.
It’s a long game and I felt completely satisfied when it ended, I almost didn’t feel the need to play the Bonus Chapter, however the Bonus Chapter rounds things up very nicely but isn’t necessary, so if your interested in this game and can only afford the S/E version, you won’t be disappointed.
Even though movement within the game is reasonably compact, there is a lot of area to cover and a map would have made a great game perfect.

For me this is a true 5 star game and an absolute “must have”.
I read about Amerzone and Benoit Sokal, (the author) when searching for Siberia III, which unfortunately for all adventure gamers, may never materialise.
Anyway regarding Amerzone, at this stage I have only played the 1 hour demonstration but knew I would be buying this game from the outset, despite the negative reviews it seemed to be getting. I was almost delirious when I accidentally discovered BFG had acquired/released the game on 16th of Jan.
The game play is so direct it’s refreshing, and by direct I do not mean easy, I mean there is no confusion about what you are doing, where you are going or where to go next even though the only help provided is what the different cursor symbols represent.
Like all good adventure games the story is deep and engaging, almost hypnotic and makes you want to know more, which is so typical of Sokal games, and that Part 1 may be short does not bother me at all, I will be hanging out for Part II.
I am no great adventure gamer, even though I love adventure games. I almost always have to refer frequently to the game walkthrough, however if the remainder of the game is as direct as the first hour, then I may not have to use a walkthrough at all for this game.
But be warned! This is an adventure game. If you don’t enjoy finding your own way around and you do not like to read the material provided through-out the game, you may not find this game as engaging as I did.
Unfortunately it starts off so slowly. I’m amazed anyone would buy it after just a 1 hour demo, but don’t be too hasty with this game, it develops very well.
I really struggled through the first hour, the hidden object scenes were murky and difficult to navigate, the slow screen changes were annoying and the initial game play was boring.
But, but, but, once I understood the game play, I was completely enthralled and did not stop playing until the game ended. The Hidden Object scenes seemed to become clearer, the slow screen changes no longer bothered me and I was anything but bored.
I played in expert mode and had to use the walkthrough twice, so the game was challenging.
I used the PCI (Electronic Manual) and map frequently to keep abreast of things, personally I enjoy reading the dialogue, but if you don’t like reading you can just focus on the words highlighted in red, their the ones pertinent to the plot.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It had everything, although the graphics were a little murky at times, the game play was clever and the storyline involving.
The voiceovers could have been a little better but generally this game had everything I like:
- two modes of play - more adventure than Hidden Object Scenes - challenging puzzles (shippable) - many original concepts (morphing between light and dark) - lots of area’s to explore but not too many as to be confusing - lengthy playing time (about 5.5 hours for me).
I would like to give this game 4.5 stars but as there is no ½’s I will give it 4 stars.
I played in expert mode, and although I stumbled at the beginning (before I decided to use the very cleaver hint system), once I found my way I couldn’t stop until I finished the game, probably 3-4 hours for me, I found every minute involving.
I’m amazed this tiny game (117 mg) is so well structured, full marks to the devs (CERASUS MEDIA) for great presentation, intriguing storyline and unique game play, this game is by far their best game yet.
For me it was necessary to read the dialogue between the players, to know how to proceed and keep in touch with the story. Don’t be put off by this as the dialogue is kept to a minimum.
This game is superb. It has everything, an intriguing, mysterious story that makes sense, a great environment in which the story is played out, magnificent graphics and a Bonus Chapter which compliments the original game. I’m so pleased I bought the C/E.
I actually bought this game in May, started playing in Casual Mode and decided it was too easy, too many sparkles and too much hand holding, so I put it aside.
Last week I decided to try the game again (hence the late review). This time I chose Hard Mode. Oh Boy! this game is hard and I loved every minute of it, (all 720 of them).
Story Line, Great, unusual, intriguing 5 stars Graphics, Exquisite 5 Stars Bonus Chapter, Superb 5 Stars Cut Scenes, Beautifully rendered 5 Stars Characters, Well Developed 5 Stars.
