I do like the premise of this game. Set in the 40's or 50's with a city detective and irish police, an author of murder mysteries is under suspicion because three of his friends are found murdered in situations that mirror ones in his books.
As his wife it is up to you to prevent more murders, prove his innocence and catch the real culprit.
However, once the game gets going it is a very standard game. You dash back and forth picking up items, busy busy between saving one person after another from your clever husband's plots. (Surely you would have read his books and known what to look for? Surely you would be more distressed, more suspicious of convenient helpers?) The puzzles are easy and the map is useless. It tells you where you are and what other locations you've discovered but not whether there is anything to do.
In the end this game didn't engage me and when the demo finished I was happy enough to have the game closed.
I can't quite see what makes this a collector's edition. There are kettle symbols to collect but I didn't encounter anything else. What else will be missing when an SE is released?
Based on an all-too-short demo (took me 43 minutes) this is a sensationally good game. Innovative gameplay and links between puzzle and story I just want to keep on playing.
I played on the second level of difficulty, and liked that I got no tutorial and had to discover the collectable items, the working of the HO puzzles and most other things myself.
The intro story is perhaps a little unbelievable (surely not!), but once I was into the game I was IN.
This game is comparable to Drawn: the Painted Tower or Enlightenus. Artwork, Storyline and Puzzles all combine to make a game to love.
p.s. No corny characters or silly spiders yet. Even my helper is unobtrusive yet pops up when needed. And he doesn't shop!
Somewhere between Mayan Prophecies Ship of Spirits and this game there must have been a big shipwreck. Graphics quality and plot line have both been washed out.
Deep in the heart of an enchanted forest, a forbidden love blooms. Guide the human Eveline as she sets out to rescue her beloved from the clutches of a tyrant.
While technically well executed this game has no depth to the story and the puzzles are easy - less than 5 clicks and you're done.
I normally play almost anything for the full length of the demo, but I exited this after 35 minutes - not really interested in the fate of the heroine or the hero she keeps having to rescue.
The idea of the cat people is lovely but our heroine doesn't need me to help her to reconcile the two races: she already has true love, a convenient dragon helper and wizened forest wise women.
I played for the full hour on the demo (Mac). Lots of pluses:
1. configurable difficulty setting 2. HO scenes that contribute to finding items we need 3. Reasonable actions on the character's part (so far). 4. Interesting storyline. No sign of resolution at the end of an hour 5. Puzzles that weren't the same-old-ones.
Definitely sparked my interest and I was disappointed at the end of the hour.
When the entire audience disappears from a film screening at an old theater, you must go behind the scenes to find out who is running the mysterious Nightmare Cinema.
Fun-Creepy story has you entering a spooky cinema via tunnels then working to save those who've been caught by the cinema's mystery operator.
I loved this game's predecessor McInroy Manor - carrying puzzles and items between straight and twisted versions of the same place.
We didn't quite do that here, but the number and variety of puzzles available is good. Puzzles weren't very difficult - though I skipped a couple as I was on a time-limited demo.
Lots of small sets of collectables (5 of this, 3 of that) felt better than having to collect a large number of one thing.
No comment on sound - I always play with sound turned off.
Hope this game is long enough. I was on a a giant conveyer belt when the demo ran out.
I recommend this game!

A great game with surreal dream landscapes and a variety of puzzles that are different from run-of-the-mill set we see often. Although different the puzzles aren't difficult (boo).
Nice graphics, items to collect and achievements but nothing that is too obtrusive and distracting from the game.
No Hidden Objects during 50 minutes of demo. I turn off all sound so can't comment on music or voiceovers.
