Some of the pieces won't place in the puzzles. I turned on the ghost image and was 100% sure where two pieces went, tried them 15 times and they would not place. When you only get 8 pieces at a time, this is a huge problem. Once the puzzle was done, one of the pieces finally went and the other took like another 6 tries. It happened again on the next puzzle and I decided I was done.

I've played almost all of the Nancy Drew games and this one is my favorite, mainly because I loved the puzzles. I love Sudoku and nonograms and I wish I could find more of the renogram type puzzles out there now that I've finished this game. It was long, but I was kind of trying to draw it out so I could play all of the puzzles, but there is a lot of running around talking to everyone. I liked the spooky atmosphere and I really enjoyed figuring out the map, but I did like that you only have to do it once for each location. Great game!
There wasn't as much storm chasing in this game as I expected, but there was still a lot to do. There are a lot of extras in this game that are fun, but not required for the story. It makes you want to play it again. I didn't need hints or the walkthrough with this game to see what needed to be done next, which was nice, but I did need it once or twice to figure out the puzzles. The mini games were super fun! And the out takes at the end are great, esp. if you are a fan of The Phantom of Venice.

This is one of my favorite Nancy Drew games. Of course, I did consult the walkthrough a few times, but with this game it was more due to my lack of patience than the fact that I had no idea what came next. I ran into some minor frustration when I couldn't find something I needed to move the game forward, but the forums helped and I was able to figure it out. I loved that the mini games are not just completely random, so it is possible to win them and it makes them more fun to play.

I enjoyed this game because it's a Nancy Drew game and I love castles, but the navigation could be a little annoying. After playing many of the more recent ND games, this seemed more cumbersome to navigate; if your mouse isn't on the very center of the screen in one specific location, you can't move around. It was better once I got used to it. Another difference was that the game wasn't as free flowing as some others...well it was, but then it didn't make sense. I played it very out of order from the walkthrough (which I needed to be able to finish the game) and some of the dialogue didn't make sense. The characters would talk about things they shouldn't know about and then after I found a different "trigger" then they would have the initial discussion that was missed, it was a little odd. This game had a lot of triggers where you can't do something else unless something specific is done first. I still liked it, but have enjoyed some of the later games more.
I recommend this game!

This is a fantastic game and worth every cent. This is one of the few games I've found that I can play over and over and over and never get tired of it. The mini games and puzzles available after completing all of the levels the first time are so much fun, I would buy just a few of those by themselves. Be careful though, it's addictive!

I saw the title of this game mentioned in another review and purchased it without doing my homework. The excellent mention of this game that I read referred to the original version and not this mess of a tiny piece of the game. This probably took me about 3 hours to complete. Large file game, what?! I get that this is now supposed to be the first half, but it wasn't much of a game by itself. I admit, I did go to the walkthrough once or twice because some of the tasks didn't make a lot of sense, but that isn't what made the game so fast for me, there just wasn't a lot to it. I don't want to spoil anything, but if the point of something is supposedly to match colors, then shouldn't the colors actually match (legs); if they don't, it isn't a puzzle, it's random trial and error. The walkthrough I looked at was for the original game and several things from the original game are missing from this version which seems odd since this is now just "part 1". The story line was robust and if you can find the original full game, it's probably worth the money, but I'll never see how the story ends because I'm not wasting my money on part 2 since this one was so short and disappointing.

Gingergal gave some good information about the game. I normally do get annoyed when it takes too much time to get from one place to another in a game, but all ND games have some of that and I didn't find the trip between train cars to be too bad. I was enjoying the game until I got to the first stop and tried to play the yeti game in the store. I played it for over an hour, an hour!! I tried fast balls, slow, and everything in between. I tried leaving and walking around and going back to the game, but nothing improved the odds. I finally just stopped playing the entire ND game altogether. Someday I will probably go back and try to finish, but I really wish I had skipped this one. I normally love the ND games, but maybe they should think about adding a skip button for this annoying minigame. A walkthrough or strategy guide can't help you win a random game.
The game only took me a couple hours to complete and was nothing but a straight string of hidden object scenes. Each scene had maybe one action item to complete, but instead of adding to the game, I found them frustrating and annoying. There are much better games out there than this one.
